Weekend Wraps

This showed up in my mailbox last week:

Bookcover073116 182x240 Weekend Wraps

A review copy of Weekend Wraps: 18 Quick Knit Cowls, Scarves & Shawls by Cecily Glowik MacDonald and Melissa LaBarre. Published by Interweave, its publication date is Tuesday August 2, but it is already available at Amazon.com at the link above.

As the title says, there are 18 patterns in the book — for cowls, scarves, and shawls. And they are all knit from worsted or heavier yarns. You can see all the patterns on Ravelry, here.

My faves:

CableLace073116 192x240 Weekend Wraps

This is the Bias Cable and Lace Stole by Leila Raabe. The sample is knit from Brooklyn Tweed Quarry, a bulky weight wool. This would work up nice and fast!

GanseyShawl073116 192x240 Weekend Wraps

This is the Gansey Shawl by Kate Gagnon Osborn, knit from The Fibre Co.’s Cumbria worsted weight yarn. I love all things gansey, and this shawl has a lovely textured all-over pattern.

WantastiquetCowl073116 192x240 Weekend Wraps

And this is the Wantastiquet Cowl by Rachel Stecker. It is knit from Frabjous Fibers March Hare yarn, a worsted weight merino wool. I love the strong main cable and the cabled edges.

As I said, there’s a total of eighteen patterns — something for everyone. You can whip out something for yourself, or start knitting up some pretty spectacular holiday gifts!

Who’d like my review copy?

humm, this book actually fits my “must consider knitting more than one pattern from it” philosophy. My choices: Gansey Shawl by Kate Gagnon Osborn, Highland Hooded Scarf by Kristen TenDyke, Fireside Shawl by Leah B. Thibault & Hiker’s Shawl by Melissa LaBarre 🙂

  6. I’m smitten with the Wantastiquet cowl. Those cables are gorgeous! I’ll have to check the book out.
