Fuzzyfeet!

by Wendy on January 28, 2003

As promised, to go along with yesterday’s “before” picture, here are the “after” pictures of my Fuzzyfeet, which were knitted for me by Kate.

I felted them bad boys down to perfection! It took maybe half an hour in the washer. I mooshed them onto my feet while damp, took them off, and let them dry in the proper shape. And they are wonderful. Thanks Kate! And thanks Theresa for the great pattern!

Guess what I finished?

Ta-da!

photo

Yep. Second sleeve goes really really fast when one is determined to finish it. I’ll do the official page on my website for it this weekend, when I’ll get a photo of me wearing it.

So I spent last evening winding thousands of balls of Jamieson & Smith shetland wool into centerpull balls in preparation for starting the Oregon Cardigan. And cast on and did a couple of rows in corrugated ribbing. The horror! Two-color corrugated ribbing is not my favorite thing, but it beats two-color garter stitch in the round.

So there you have it. Photos when there’s anything worth photographing.

Just a test to see if the comments are working!

I’m uncharacteristically speechless,Wendy! The 5SB/5SG sweater is magnificent! Well, done, Knitting Goddess! The slippers look so comfy–my first attempt at felted slippers was a disaster—they are probably housing a family of mice in our woods now! Maybe I’ll try again with Theresa’s pattern!

I love how the felted slippers look! Lucky you to have a great friend like Kate to send you those.

Your sweater is simply gorgeous! I liked following along while you were making. Can’t wait to see what’s the next one you’ll be making!

Wendy, you are a true inspiration! :)

Wendy! The sweater is just beautiful! Wow! It looks great as a pullover! I can’t wait to see the beginnings of the Oregon Cardigan. I have always thought it was luscious!

And those slippers are just great. I think I may pull out some lamb’s pride and make something warm for our VERY cold feet here!
(how many exclamation points can one use in succession? lol!)

Thanks guys! The slippers were really easy to felt — I encourage you all to give them a try!

Wow Endy the sweater looks fabulous! How can one knit this nicely and so fast?! Do you have a secret to it all?
The slippers are great too, I’ve been very tempted too try felted slippers myself, but I think it would be too much to watch out for them. I can “protect” my socks from them dogs, but slippers? hehe

Wendy, I cannot believe how beautiful that sweater is! You should be very proud - that re-design really rivals the original.

And I’m envious of the slippers - I just might try a pair myself. (Although I’m wondering if there’s a way to put a sole on them — I’ve been seen in the supermarket wearing my pink fuzzy slippers before since they have a rubber sole.)

No tagging today - work is crazy! Hope the dentist went well!

Hi Andrea

Thanks! :-) I think you can buy stuff to “paint” on the soles of your slippers to make them non-skid, but I bet you could figger out how to do apply a real sole, too.

Beautiful. Lyrical. Frickin perfect. Wendy, you ARE the finest knitter I have never met. Thanks for sharing your lovely stuff.

I’m in awe. The sweater is awesome.

(Teresa bows and lays circular needles and yarn at Wendy’s feet.)

I’m not worthy! I’m not worthy!

Looking forward to pictures of you wearing the sweater and the Oregon Cardigan!

Wendy — it’s gorgeous! My two favorite colors are red and black (I’m making a constant companion bag with these colors right now). You are just incredible! I can’t wait to see the next sweater.

Wendy, love the sweater and the slippers. I think I will have to make slippers for gifts next year. After I make myself a pair, though. Can’t wait to see Oregon in progress.

Wow, wow, wow! I agree, the redesign is fabulous. I wasn’t crazy about this sweater until now that I see what you’ve done with it. Great work.

Fabulous sweater! I can’t wait to see what’s next! :-)

15 Geane Helfrich 01.28.03 at 11:03 am

Oh My God. Wendy, it’s fabulous. And the sleeve caps are sewed in so artistically! I’ve always had trouble with shaped sleeve tops. It’s truly better than the original and will no doubt serve you well these cold Winters. Kiss, kiss!

Gorgeous sweater, I too love the changes you’ve made - much nicer than the original!

I left a comment ,1st 1 ,about how fantstic the girls look ! And admiring your Fancy Feet.
Did it get ditched when you changed Mother Ship ?
Anyway,The Virgins tunic looks absolutely wanderful, and I’m looking forward to seeing it finished.

19 Emma 01.28.03 at 12:17 pm

Whoops ! Not finished ! I meant worn.

20 Melissa 01.28.03 at 12:46 pm

You should go to the dentist more often! Look at what you got done! The sweater is gorgeous and now I am going to have to make myself some fuzzy feet. You are knitting royalty (as the magnet I gave you signifies)!

21 Wendy 01.28.03 at 12:55 pm

Thanks for all the great comments you guys! Yes, if you commented early this morning, it disappeared when I changed to the new Mother Ship. But I did get your comments via email, so nothing was really lost. :-)

Another beautiful sweater! I visit your blog every day for a dose of knitting inspiration.

23 Caroline F 01.28.03 at 2:22 pm

Gorgeous! Do you like how it fits??

24 Wendy 01.28.03 at 2:25 pm

Thanks Caroline! Yes, it fits well — more fitted through the top than drop shoulder sweaters, but not unpleasantly so.

25 Angela 01.28.03 at 3:07 pm

What a beautiful set of Virgins, be they foolish or wise!

Your version is why I have decided I absolutely MUST get myself a copy of Norsk Strikkdesign.

(we still miss you on kbth)

Hi,
I don’t know enough English to say how beautifull your Virgin sweater is. Thank you for sharing it with us.

27 gian 01.28.03 at 4:54 pm

When I saw it I said outloud, “That is gorgeous.”

Well done..

The virgins jumper is really yummy. Thanks for sharing the journey with us.

29 miranda 01.28.03 at 6:45 pm

oh, my. the grrls and bitches look fab. I’m waiting for my copy of Norsk Strikkedesign in the mail myself - did you know, Amazon isn’t carrying it? i ordered from KnitPicks - but I don’t think that’s the one I’ll tackle first! If my grandmother were still alive I’d beg her to make it for me, but I don’t think she really did much stranded knitting.

haven’t ordered Sweaters from Camp yet per yr suggestion, but will be doing so soon. eeee! excited!

and the slippers look comfy, too!

30 kc 01.28.03 at 7:01 pm

I LOVE it! =D

I really love the look of those red ‘bad boy’ slipper/socks.
How can I go about getting the pattern for them?
Cheers Jenni
