More On Comments

by Wendy on April 1, 2007

Tracy commented on Thursday’s blog post:
How do you manage the comments you receive? Do you just set aside an hour, or two, or three each day to read them all and then respond accordingly? Or do you read them periodically through the day? I have to admit, you seem to be one of the best comment-acknowledge-ers I’ve seen!

Well, I’m glad I give that impression, because I feel that a lot of time I fall down on the job of comment acknowledgment. Comment management is sporadic here at WendyKnits. Sometimes I respond via email, sometimes in a subsequent blog post. Sometimes I don’t respond at all, if it’s been a particularly busy day and I’ve had a lot of email to respond to as well.

I’ve been blogging for a long time (um, for 5 years as of TODAY, actually) and have never really been sure of blog etiquette on comments. Are you supposed to respond to each one? Do the commenters think you’re a pest if you do?

As I’ve mentioned before, a lot of the time when I respond to a comment via email, it bounces back to me as undeliverable. (I’ve noticed this particularly with hotmail email addresses.) Sometimes if the question is asked several times, or it’s one that I think would be of interest to many, so I answer it in a blog post. I’ve gotten email from people who tell me they like this, and I like it too. I like hearing what other people think, and I like the back and forth exchange it seems to foster. So I’ll continue to do so.

And Speaking of Comments

Here’s a good one from Judy:

I bought drop-dead gorgeous lace-weight yarn at Stitches East. It’s a single100-gram ball of 2400 yards of stunningly variegated 100% merino thread, practically. The colors are deep plums and auburns and blues–very autumnal.

I want to challenge myself and make a stunning lace project with this yarn, yet I’m so overwhelmed by the choice that I haven’t been able to do anything but stare at it.

The vendor is a Russian couple and the name of the booth (and site) is Skaska Designs, if that helps place it. I’ve looked for a photo of the yarn online and can’t even find it on their site.

Anyway–I’m nervous about ruining the yarn, but also about choosing just the right lace pattern to show off the variegated yarn. The color changes are slow from what I’ve seen so far.

Any ideas? I’d love to see/read what your readers might suggest, or to learn if anyone else has used this yarn.

You might not like this answer (grin), but depending no how variegated the yarn is, it would be better suited to a simpler lace pattern. The more the variegation, the more it will hide intricate lace.

Has anyone used this yarn? Judy, could you mebbe post a photo of it on your blog?

Speaking of Lace

The Alpine lace:

alpine040107.jpg

I’ve got 25 more rows to knit on this. I’ll likely not block it tonight, though. In fact, I may wait a bit. I ordered some interlocking foam squares to aid in the blocking process and I might wait til those arrive before finishing this off.

Five Freaking Years

As I mentioned above, today is my five-year blog-i-versary. Wheeeeee! In celebration, if you leave a comment on this post by Thursday April 5, noon, EDT, you will be put in a random drawing to win a fiber-y prize. Yup, this time, leave a comment (as opposed to sending an email). Yes, you may call this “blatant whoring for comments” if you like. Carry on.

The Lucy Report

We’ve spent the weekend pampering her and catering to her every kitty whim. Clearly this agrees with her.

She’s still limping, but I think she’s feeling better.

Happy Blogiversary. I love checking in to see Lucy and your latest WIP. Will you be flashing your stash this year??? That’s something I’d love to see!

2 Leone 04.01.07 at 1:33 pm

I hope all the pampering helps speed Lucy’s recovery along. Congratulations on five years of blogging! You are one of the most consistent and sincere knit bloggers out there and I’ve always enjoyed reading your blog.

3 Adriana 04.01.07 at 1:36 pm

Happy Blogiversary!!

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy reading your blog. It’s so nice that you keep it updated so regularly and I love the daily dose of Lucy.

4 Anne 04.01.07 at 1:38 pm

Happy anniversary! I’ve enjoyed reading your blog (and comments for that matter) for almost 3 years, learning many new tips and gathering inspiration along the way. Thanks!

5 kristy 04.01.07 at 1:41 pm

Happy blog-iversary. I have loved reading this blog for the past two years. It is one of the few that I check daily. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences with us. Thanks also to Lucy and the KOARC.

6 Lauren 04.01.07 at 1:41 pm

Happy anniversary. Five years is quite an accomplishment — I’ve only been knitting for one year myself. Keep up the good posts.

7 Valerie 04.01.07 at 1:43 pm

Congratulations on your 5 year blogiversary! I just discovered your blog recently, but now I never miss a post, and also appreciate your consistency–I always know what days and even times to check for a new post. I especially like to read your evaluation of new yarns, particularly with the abundance of gorgeous sock yarns available now.
One question: are there any sock yarns you can think of that you don’t like? (Or maybe you don’t want to name names…)

I love your blog which I discovered by buying your book! I wish we call all magically be good kniters. Any advice to those of us who seem stuck with scarves (not another scarf I swear!) and a few hats? Just impatient to learn and do, without making the errors that need fixing!
socks might be my next “mindless knitting” once i learn how to do them. by the way, i have a lucy like cat - whose fur comes off in massive amounts when brushed. contemplating someday felting her fur into something - maybe a cat toy, i saw someone needle fetlting alpaca fur at the pet expo. made me think of gracie, the lucy look-alike. (except gracie is a himilayan who sheds boatloads.

Happy Fifth Anniversary!

I enjoy reading what you write and I really like your book. How about another one? Or have you said all you have to say?

Happy anniversary! I hope you will continue for a long time, your blog is one of my favorites. It’s not even all due to Lucy, I really like your knitting and writing style as well ;). I have learned a lot from you, and gotten much inspiration. In fact, I think I’ll have to order Victorian Lace Today now, and knit the Alpine Lace Shawl…
I hope Lucy will recover quickly, and that she is properly spoilt in the meantime.

12 Missy 04.01.07 at 1:51 pm

wow!
5 years!
congrats.
I just started knitting a little over a month ago… and last night I turned the heel of my very first sock… I think an addiction is starting to form :)
Thanks for being such an inspiration!

13 Casey 04.01.07 at 1:51 pm

Happy Happy Anniversary!! This was one of the first knitting blogs I read when I began knitting and is still one of my very favorites. Hope Miss Lucy recovers quickly.

14 Gail 04.01.07 at 1:52 pm

Happy blogiversary. I am loving (and in awe of) the lace. And a big hug to lovely Lucy - the brave little soldier, putting up with all that adoration.

15 Nancy J 04.01.07 at 1:52 pm

Happy April Fool’s Blogversary!!! Miss Lucy, Mr. Nikki is purring his little heart out wanting to share your comfy cushion with the snow flurries predicted after 70 degree temps this upcoming week.

16 Lisa 04.01.07 at 1:53 pm

Happy blogiversary! :)

Happy Blogiversary!

I’m glad to hear Lucy is feeling better.

18 Delores 04.01.07 at 1:55 pm

Love your blog! So glad Lucy’s getting better! Hope the limp goes away soon. Wow! 5 years! I’m still working on being more regular on my blog. I am claiming life will settle down soon and I can knit and blog a lot more.

Knit away!

Wait, I think I remember when you bought that car. Isn’t it at least 2 years old? Wow, that’s kind mileage. Your Honda must love you. I just sold my Honda (dearly loved) last year, it had 250,000 km on it and ran better than the day I bought it.

Anyway, happy bloggiversay and tell Lucy that Meechat and Annie are sending kittie kisses to her knee.

20 Crafting Jen 04.01.07 at 1:58 pm

Five years - wow! Happy anniversary, Wendy.

I only started reading knit blogs about, oh - 2 1/2 years ago. And yours was the very first I found. In fact, I didn’t know about knit blogs until I was googling some technique or other and your blog came up in the results.

I started my own blog soon after, and on April 23rd will be my second blogiversary. Blogging, and reading blogs, has had an immense positive influence on my crafts. I see what so many people are doing by reading their blogs, and I pay closer attention to the details of what I myself am doing by writing about it on my own.

The end result? I gain a more in-depth understanding about the entire process of crafting, whether it’s knitting, needlework, quilting, or any other craft I engage in. My technique improves, my confidence is boosted to where I will try new things pretty fearlessly, and I’m producing better finished objects.

All from being part of the blogging world.

Thanks, Wendy, for introducing me to this whole blog thing. And once again, Happy Blogiversary!

21 alyson 04.01.07 at 1:59 pm

Daaaang - five years is a very long time to blog! Congrats - and I’m glad Lucy’s doing better. :-)

22 Linda 04.01.07 at 1:59 pm

Happy 5th!

23 carrie 04.01.07 at 1:59 pm

Lucy’s got life by the tail. I want someone to cater to my every whim! =) Happy Blog-iversary. You’re a fun read. I love the lace shawl. Who will be the lucky recipient? It’s really beautiful.

24 Jeremy 04.01.07 at 2:00 pm

5 years! Congratulations. I really enjoy reading your blog. It is such an inspiration.

25 Rachel 04.01.07 at 2:00 pm

I have never owned a car with that low a milage. In fact my favorite car had over 250,000 before it became non repairable.

I enjoy reading you answers to comments. Thanks for the entertainment.

26 Kat 04.01.07 at 2:01 pm

Happy fifth blogiversary, Wendy!

27 Marianne 04.01.07 at 2:02 pm

I have been reading your blog for several years now and I have learned much from you. I use your toe up sock pattern for toes and heels if I go toe up. I think you may be the reason I started knitting lace, I bought the yarn swift you have so maybe I am a Wendy wannabe oh, and of course I was born and raised in Georgetown. That makes me think, I am coming home to visit in May…could we meet for lunch downtown?

28 Nikki 04.01.07 at 2:03 pm

so glad Lucy’s feeling better!!

Happy Blogiversary! :)

29 Marianne 04.01.07 at 2:05 pm

oops, I forgot to tell you that I have a Maine Coon who occasionally gets a swollen leg and he holds it up and limps. The vet thinks it is from being such a big boy and jumping down from something. Anyway, if he is real uncomfortable I get an ANSAID from his doc…otherwise, I just do warm compresses several times a day till swelling goes down!

30 Barb 04.01.07 at 2:05 pm

Well….I am about to start my first lace project. I will be using a hand dyed yarn from Farmhouse Yarns called Bo Peep sock yarn. I don’t like it for socks, but I think it will make a yummy lace yarn. I will be doing a very simple lace pattern. I will show you when I am done.

I am happy to hear that Lucy is feeling better. You do realize that she will be limping when you are around for a while for sympathy from her mommy;-)

I hope I win the fiber prize. It would be a nice way to finish off the celebration of my 40th birthday yesterday.

Happy knitting

31 CatBookMom 04.01.07 at 2:07 pm

Wishing you a very happy Blogiversary! I’ve been knitting and reading for about 3 years now, and I’m more in love with Lucy than ever. Glad she’s feeling better! I’ve learned so much from your comments about knitting, and the fact that I’ve become a sock-yarn hoarder has nothing to do with you, lol!!

I’m not good about responding to general comments, though of course I get a mere handful by comparison to you. I just can’t think of enough different ways to say ‘Thank you’ to simple encouraging comments. What’s the Blogiquette? How do we decide?

And I’m ROFL about your low car mileage! We bought our Camry 8 years ago this month, shortly before I became ill and quit working; we haven’t yet turned over 30,000 miles - which is amazing, here in drive-everywhere LA. In contrast, DH’s car, which he’s been driving to work daily, is approaching 90,000.

Thanks for being a part of my life!

32 alice 04.01.07 at 2:09 pm

I’m gonna comment on comments. Personally, I don’t expect a reply to a comment, especially on a “busy” blog, but I’m quite delighted (perhaps too delighted) to get one.

As to commenters who use bogus addresses, I’ve noticed a great divide on usenet about this. Oldtimers like me use real, replyable addresses and filter out spam. Younger/newer posters use fancifully distorted addresses and consider it misguided to do otherwise, while we oldbies consider it rude to actively solicit email replies without providing a legitimate email address (and something that requires guesswork and manual editing doesn’t count as a legitimate email address!). On your blog, I suspect that some folks are so used to doing this that it hasn’t even occurred to them that they might receive a personal email from you!

33 Norma 04.01.07 at 2:11 pm

Happy bloggiversary! I like to get acknowledgment of comments, and like to GIVE it, too, but sometimes I can’t keep up with it and I’ve gotten kind of lazy about it in the past several months. I must say that some of the acknowledgments I do get from other bloggers seem like a waste of an email, though. Often it’s “Thanks, Norma!” And I really don’t see the point of that. I can’t even remember what the comment was that they’re giving cookie-cutter thanks to half the time. Heh.

34 Leah 04.01.07 at 2:12 pm

Thanks for five years of wonderful knitting. You have been a real inspiration and help.

35 Liz 04.01.07 at 2:12 pm

Happy blogiversary!

I think it’s great that you respond to as many comments as you do, considering the traffic this site gets. I wouldn’t hold a grudge for an unanswered comment, and I think it’s kind of unreasonable to do so, unless the comment is some kind of emergency… which would just be weird anyway.

36 Emily 04.01.07 at 2:14 pm

Happy fifth blogiversary! 5 years is impressive. I hope this year brings many great conversations via your blog. Well wishes to Lucy.

37 Kat 04.01.07 at 2:15 pm

Happy Blogiversary!

I love watching your parade of cool projects and hearing your opinions on yarn, technique, and anything else knitting related.

Our car only gets driven about 3 times a week on relatively short trips. The dealer is always sending us reminders to come get service (based on our estimates you should need the ____ mile service now …) thousands of miles before we have approached the next service.

38 Christine 04.01.07 at 2:15 pm

I’m a very new blogger, myself, and still don’t know what to do about comments. (Heh, not that I really need to worry about that, not yet, at any rate.) I found your blog a couple of years ago, and have been reading it regularly since discovery. Lucy is a doll, and I’m glad she’s recovering so nicely. And I can’t wait to see the blocked, finished Alpine Lace ~ it looks gorgeous!

39 Darci 04.01.07 at 2:15 pm

As you are whoring for comments…I am whoring for prizes! Love you, love Lucy, love the book and the blog…that should cover it. Now getting up off my knees.

40 Lise 04.01.07 at 2:19 pm

Congratulations on 5 years of blogging! Thank you for your steadfastness, and your willingness to share with all of us. Reading blogs is one of the things that keeps me knitting, and frankly also makes me wish I had a cat. Although I am not sure Scooby the little dog would approve. Happy knitting!

Congratulations on 5 years of blogging, Happy Blogiversary.

44 Micki 04.01.07 at 2:23 pm

Warm felicitations on your milestone blogiversary!

Your Alpine lace is looking divine. I can’t wait to see it blocked.

45 Elizabeth 04.01.07 at 2:24 pm

The lace is beautiful, as usual. Happy 5th Blogiversary. We need to throw you a virtual 5th Blogiversary party. :)

46 Stephanie 04.01.07 at 2:24 pm

Congratulations to you and Lucy on your fifth blogiversary! (Okay–I know you got Lucy in May of 2003, so it’s not technically HER fifth blogiversary, but she’s such a big part of the blog now, it seems wrong not to include her in the celebration!) I really love checking in to see what you’re both up to.

47 Chrissy 04.01.07 at 2:25 pm

Happy Blogiversary! Low mileage–looks like you’re saving the earth by taking public transporation. Good job!

48 Jenn 04.01.07 at 2:27 pm

Re: the comments - I’m on the fence about the replying. I do like it when other bloggers reply to my comments, but sometimes I don’t feel like replying to comments, and it’s tough with blogger, since they don’t show you the email addresses.
Anyway - happy blogiversary!
I recently read your book and enjoyed the stories about how you got started knitting and your early projects. Have a great day!

49 janine 04.01.07 at 2:27 pm

Happy Blogiversary! Glad Lusy is feeling better

50 Lacy 04.01.07 at 2:28 pm

Happy anniversary! I love this blog and read it religiously, even though I’ve only commented once in the past year. I enjoy the highlighting of comments in posts, as I don’t have time to read all of the comments. Keep up the great blog!

51 Robyn 04.01.07 at 2:29 pm

happy blog-iversary!

52 Kristina 04.01.07 at 2:29 pm

Happy 5th Blog-iversary, Wendy! I’ve been reading and lurking for a few years now.

53 Robin 04.01.07 at 2:30 pm

Congrats on your blogiversary. I have only been blogging about 8 months and I don’t update it as often as you by any means. The Alpine looks great.

54 zeska 04.01.07 at 2:30 pm

Happy Blogoversary! I’ve only been reading you for roughly a year now but I’m going to keep returning here for each update :).

55 'stasia 04.01.07 at 2:31 pm

happy blogiversary! i’m glad lucy’s feeling better, though being such a clever girl, she may feign a limp forever just so you’ll keep up the princess treatment.
anyway, i have a question about simple lace versus complex lace: the friend who taught me to knit last year is dismayed that i don’t enjoy knitting lace and thinks that i’d like it more if i took on something more intricate. she claims this is a documentable phenomenon - that many people who don’t enjoy knitting lace like it more when they take on something harder. i find this difficult to believe, but if an accomlished lace knitter like you confirmed it…. well, then i’d have to give it a try.

56 Becki 04.01.07 at 2:31 pm

Wow, five years! That is quite the milestone. Happy ‘versary!

57 Lori 04.01.07 at 2:32 pm

Happy Blogversary! I’ve enjoyed the blog and your book and I really enjoy every pic of Lucy, too!

58 Christy / Not Hip 04.01.07 at 2:32 pm

Hey we can all be comment ho’s sometimes;) Congrats on 5 years, very impressive.

59 Lauren 04.01.07 at 2:33 pm

Happy Blogiversary!

60 dobarah 04.01.07 at 2:33 pm

Congratulations on 5 years of blogging! I love reading about Lucy, your knitting, and your world in general, but I must have missed about your car. How old/new is this mentioned car? That is barely a few trips in Montana mileage as it is over a daily 60 mile round trip to teach school (that is the closest groceries also…”fast food” is over 90 miles one way…and that trip may also let me find yarn in the quilting store). My kitties send healing hugs to Lucy!

61 Deirdre 04.01.07 at 2:34 pm

Congratulations on 5 years, Wendy!

I love your Lucy updates - so glad to know she is recuperating!

62 Ray 04.01.07 at 2:35 pm

Happy Blogversary!

I love your blog, and have learned a lot from you in the few months I’ve been reading.

Speedy recovery to Lucy — you’re a good “mama”!

Thanks for all you share.

63 Julie 04.01.07 at 2:36 pm

Happy Blogiversary! Yours was the first blog I started reading on a regular basis, about three years ago. In fact, if memory serves, when I found your blog my first thought was, “Wow! People blog about knitting? This is cool.” :)

64 Sydney 04.01.07 at 2:36 pm

Happy Blogiversary! Congrats on 5 years of blogging. I’m glad to hear Lucy is feeling better. Hopefully the weekend of pampering will help clear her limp up quickly.

65 lucy 04.01.07 at 2:36 pm

Congrats on 5 years! Should be a pretty impressive number of comments here, since we all come out of hiding for fibery-goodness :)

66 Sacha 04.01.07 at 2:37 pm

Happy five years! Your blog is enjoyable, thank you. :)

67 Eileen 04.01.07 at 2:37 pm

Happy 5 year Anniversary! I read your blog first thing every morning. I’ve been thinking about starting one of my own - maybe I’ll get the courage soon. In the meantime, I’ll continue to enjoy you with my morning tea!

68 Melanie 04.01.07 at 2:38 pm

Happy Blogiversary-April Fools Day!

69 Emily 04.01.07 at 2:39 pm

Hi Wendy,
I like when you answer comment questions in posts as well. Congrats on the 5 years!

70 Laurie 04.01.07 at 2:40 pm

Congratulations on blogging for five years.
I love your blog for the knitting as much as for the Lucy pictures. Well done Wendy.

71 Becki 04.01.07 at 2:42 pm

Happy 5 year anniversary! Your car is doing much better than mine…we just hit 110,000 miles today. I drive about 36,000 miles a year, so it was bound to happen!

72 Kelly 04.01.07 at 2:42 pm

Happy Anniversary!
I’m also bowing to your very good mileage in particular today. I appreciate it when I see that people do actually take public transit and keep their cars for necessity only. Give yourself a big hug from this tree hugger.

73 Kim 04.01.07 at 2:42 pm

Congratulations on five years of blogging — I imagine that adds up to a lot of completed socks (and other projects)! I’m nearly finished with my first substantial lace project so I am interested in any info about proper blocking. You mentioned the foam blocks - are they the ones usually intended for children’s rooms or areas, or something different? The idea of a clean flat surface appeals to me (for some reason I have a shortage of those in my house!), but I worry that the foam will have an odd or plasticky odor. I was thinking of using my yoga mat, but I suppose that might have an “interesting” odor too. I guess covering it with a towel might work.

74 kgraham 04.01.07 at 2:43 pm

De-lurking to wish you a Happy Blogiversary! I have gone so far as to read all your archives, being newish to the interknit, and I really like the “answers of general interest” that you post. I know you will have a ton to sort through today, but here’s one more question should you have time/interest:

I was fiddling around and came up with a “new” cast on. Maybe. I’ve looked at some of the teaching sites I’m familiar with, and checked a book out of the library, but can’t find anything like it. Can you or your readers recommend a site or book that shows EVERY cast on known? I’m perfectly happy to admit I’ve probably just found a lesser-known one, but I’d like to be sure.

A nice belly-rub to Lucy and a speedy recovery! Thanks and happy knits!

75 Jenn 04.01.07 at 2:43 pm

Happy Blogging Birthday!

(Something happened to Lucy? I was away last week, now I need to go back and find out what I missed!)

76 CC 04.01.07 at 2:45 pm

Best Wishes on your Anniversary; hope you continue blogging for many many years to come. I am always learning from all the knitting tips you impart.

And I adore the daily Lucy Photolog.

Five years - must make you a pioneer of Blogdom??

77 Sammi 04.01.07 at 2:46 pm

Happy Blogiversary! I know I was astounded how long I’d kept my online journal when I checked the other day - I’m nearing six years, six years, and I can’t keep a paper journal for more than a week :P
After a recent trial of knitting a shawl too large to block on my king-size bed, I’m thinking foam might be the way to go. Some of those puzzle block foam deals you can get in packets for kids’ rooms, might just do the trick. I should probably invest in them BEFORE I knit the next shawl though :D
*hopes for a prize* hee!

78 Sara 04.01.07 at 2:46 pm

Congratulations on five years of blogging! That’s a long time…

Am glad to see that Lucy is doing better!!!

79 Veronica 04.01.07 at 2:47 pm

Happy blogiversary! It’s always interesting to see what you’re up to.

80 Rosane 04.01.07 at 2:47 pm

Hi Wendy,

Happy Blogversary!!! And Happy April Fool’s Day!!!

Glad to hear Lucy is feeling better, the cutey. Snorgle on that furry tummy for me.

Wow, I’m impressed. 5 years, +/- 7500 miles? My car is a 2002 (Nissan Altima). Guess how many miles I have on it? 185000+, no kidding. This was my first brand-new, 0 miles car. The odometer turned 100000 on exit 16 of the Hutchinson River Parkway, I don’t remember the date. I took a picture of that, and also of 175000. I practically live in my car!

Take care,

Rosane.

81 Kristi 04.01.07 at 2:47 pm

Happy Anniversary Wendy! I really enjoy reading your blog and seeing the pictures. Lucy is a star! I’m a cat lover myself…I have 3. I just finished reading your book this morning. So many wonderful patterns that I have marked to make. I believe I’m going to make the fingerless mittens first. Now off to my LYS…

82 desiknitter 04.01.07 at 2:48 pm

Happy anniversary, wendy! Five years is a real milestone. And I love the look of that Alpine lace..

83 gladys 04.01.07 at 2:48 pm

Wow, happy fifth blogiversary! Love the site, and use your toe-up pattern regularly. Thanks for all the gorgeous knitting!

84 Margaret 04.01.07 at 2:49 pm

Here’s another happy 5 year blogiversary! :)
Your Alpine Lace shawl looks beautiful. I was at Stitches West and got the wonderful opportunity to hear Jane Sowerby speak about a lot of the patterns in Victorian Lace Today and I think that she said she thought the name possibly came from people who had been on holiday to the Alps. I could be remembering wrong, I think I was just charmed by listening to her delightful British voice!

Happy blogoversary!

(I personally love it when people respond to comments. :D)

87 cheesehead with sticks 04.01.07 at 2:53 pm

Happy Blogiversary! I love reading your blog, it was one of the first ones I discovered!

88 Regenia 04.01.07 at 2:53 pm

Happy Blogiversary!

89 Mary 04.01.07 at 2:53 pm

Both Lucy and the Alpine Shawl look like lounging Odalisques. Happy Blogoversary!

90 Beth 04.01.07 at 2:54 pm

You may be whoring for comments but I’ll sell out for a chance at a fibery prize any day! :)
Happy Blogiversary!

91 beth 04.01.07 at 2:54 pm

i’m shyly de-lurking to join in the chorus of happy blogiversary wishes! i’m relatively new to the world of knitting blogs (having become a hard core knitter only within the past 9 months or so), and yours is one of my favorites. my adopted kitten, truman, loves to hear about the adventures of lucy and thinks lucy is very lucky not to have to put up with the 3 dogs that he does! (i adopted truman from king street cats in old town. you and i live in the same area!) anyway, blog on!!

92 Samantha 04.01.07 at 2:54 pm

Happy 5th anniversary!

93 Dallas 04.01.07 at 2:55 pm

Happy Anniversary!

I’m glad to hear Lucy is feeling better. Our cat strained a muscle last year and it was a bit of a surprise to see how long it took for the limp to disappear completely. Of course, all the extra attention probably went a long way toward encouraging her to hang onto the limp!

I’m interested to hear how you like the foam squares for blocking. I’m still struggling to find a satisfactory way to block shawls.

94 Brenda 04.01.07 at 2:55 pm

Happy Blogiversary! I rarely comment here but read all of your posts.

Glad to hear that Lucy is recovering nicely. My cats are getting a lot more frisky now that spring is in the air (to the point of being quite out of character), do you notice any seasonal changes with Lucy?

95 Jeanne B. 04.01.07 at 3:00 pm

Happy Blogiversary and I’m glad to see that Lucy is back on her feet again. So to speak. ;-)

96 Alison 04.01.07 at 3:00 pm

Happy Blog-i-versary! I remember when you stopped blogging for a while — I didn’t blame you for doing it, but I selfishly am so glad that you’re here sharing your knitting and wisdom!

97 Roseann 04.01.07 at 3:00 pm

Congratulations on 5 years of blogging!!! I’m glad Lucy is feeling better, hopefully she will be back to walking normally very soon.

Alpine is sooo pretty, I am pleasantly surprised to see that it takes about 850 yds, the same amount in the lace cake Dave sent me.

98 Janet 04.01.07 at 3:01 pm

Wow. 5 years. I guess at some point in the near future, I should start a blog. Maybe on my birthday…
I love Lucy! I had to get some Lucy yarn since she’s the same colors as my Pollie girl.
Congratulations to you.

99 martha in mobile 04.01.07 at 3:01 pm

As opposed to subtle whoring for comments? Count me in on the contest — this is a blatant whoring for fibery goodness!

100 Knitting Pirate 04.01.07 at 3:03 pm

Just a quick note to let you know that I recently started reading your blog, and enjoy it so much that I immediately added it to my collection of rss feeds!

Happy Blogiversary! :)

101 Karma 04.01.07 at 3:03 pm

Congrats on your five year blogversary! It’s been fun watching your “fan base” grow. I remember when I subscribed and you had just tipped over the 1000 bloglines readers mark. Now you have about a kajillion readers. Thanks for your witty and informative posts! Belly rub to Lucy.

102 Corvus 04.01.07 at 3:04 pm

As a newbie blogger myself (I think- I’ve been at it at least a month. At which point does one go from newbie blogger to experienced or even veteren?), I see no issues with “blatant whoring for comments”.

I congratulate you on five good years and wish you many good blog-years to come.

103 Bobbi 04.01.07 at 3:09 pm

I think you handle everything blog related fabulously! Keep up the good work. Here’s to five more years. Congratulations!

104 Tammy 04.01.07 at 3:10 pm

Well, the fibery goodness incentive is a good one. :D I have Google Reader and you are on my list, so I read every time you post. I love watching your progress, but am highly jelous! I can only wish to have as many FOs as you! :D Congrats on your Blogiversary! :D

105 Tam 04.01.07 at 3:11 pm

You shameless comment ho! haha Happy Blogiversary. I’ve been reading your blog almost all that time. Glad to hear that Lucy’s feeling a little better.

You might want to speak to the KOARC about the rather… um… interesting photo he posted of you recently and his gratuitous mention of “your medication”. As if you need to go off your medication to be goofy. snort!

106 melanie 04.01.07 at 3:12 pm

So glad Lucy is feeling better - and I love your blog!

107 Emily 04.01.07 at 3:17 pm

Happy 5 years! I really enjoy reading about your knitterly exploits, and my own Ragdoll loves the pictures of Lucy!

108 Lia 04.01.07 at 3:18 pm

Wow! Five years! Congratulations. You are quite inspiring. Even before I really started reading blogs, I found a ton of useful information on your gallery, pattern, and links pages.

I just started my first toe-up socks, thanks to your pattern and a couple handy stitch pattern books.

109 Lynn 04.01.07 at 3:20 pm

Happy Blogiversary, Wendy! I enjoy lurking here every day!

110 Heather 04.01.07 at 3:22 pm

Congrats on 5 years!! I can’t manage to keep a journal more than 5 days. But I do love reading about your knitting (and other) adventures. Thanks!!

111 Julia in KW 04.01.07 at 3:23 pm

Happy Blog-iversary! You, Wendy, are responsible for the loss of time in my life…why? Because your blog was the first one I ever read about knitting (three years ago) and from there I was sucked in to the Blogisphere…I don’t have one myself, but I love dropping in on others to see what is going on with them…Thanks a lot! and I really mean it, thanks for connecting me with so many others who share my passion for things knitterly.

112 Jen 04.01.07 at 3:24 pm

Congrats and happy blogiversary!

113 puddnik 04.01.07 at 3:26 pm

Congrats on the Blogiversary, Wendy!

I also have a anniversary of sorts today - a much more personal one, but very postive nonetheless.

Likewise, I’m sure you’ve found your decision to blog and “throw yourself out there” very postive indeed ;-)
^ my shameless, blantant whoring for fiber - better or worse than your call for comments? hmmm… :D

114 Sherry 04.01.07 at 3:29 pm

Happy 5th blog anniversary! Your my favorite blog. It’s great how you reloy with posting commenter’s questions or e-mail. Lucy is so lucky to have you to cater and pamper her. (Glad she’s basking in your keeping up with her ‘kitty whims’).

Funny you posted Judy’s question on lace. I’ve just started listening to Lime & Violet and just yesterday listened to their 1st podcast. I swear they were talking about the same Russian yarn that they had seen and not bought at Estes. Perhaps, they might have some info on the perfect project.

115 Chris 04.01.07 at 3:29 pm

Great blog…glad I stumbled on to it. Chris

116 Alaina 04.01.07 at 3:30 pm

5 years, yay! I love reading for Miss Lucy and your constant flow of lovely projects. A lot of inspiration :)

117 Anne 04.01.07 at 3:31 pm

Happy Blogiversary!

118 karen 04.01.07 at 3:33 pm

Happy anniversary…and thanks for introducing info about unusual yarns and whatnot…ie, http://www.skaska.com…now if they would only travel out my way!

119 KelInCal 04.01.07 at 3:33 pm

Happy blogiversary, Wendy!

120 Elizabeth 04.01.07 at 3:34 pm

I’m not a usual commenter, but the five year anniversary deserves a comment, even without the incentive. Thanks for the great blog; there’s always something interesting happening at WendyKnits!

121 Mel 04.01.07 at 3:34 pm

Happy Blog-i-versary!!!

Send me yarn! LOL (I am soooo about free yarn.)

7500 on the odometer, hmmm. Just like my car, times 10! Of course, I live in OK, so we have to drive just about everywhere because the only public transportation we have is the bus, and it don’t come out to my neck of the prairie. :)
Healing snuggles to Lucy!

122 Leigh 04.01.07 at 3:34 pm

Congratulations! Your blog is the first one I read every day, Wendy. I started after reading that article about you in the W. Post. My husband knew I would be interested and saved it for me.

123 janna 04.01.07 at 3:35 pm

I was going to comment anyway, but now there’s a prize involved, too! W00T!

Anyway — I usually block by spreading a quilt on the living room floor, but have been looking for a better, yet affordable, solution. When you get your foam blocks, be sure to tell us about them, okay?

124 Lacey 04.01.07 at 3:36 pm

Happy Blogiversary!

The lace looks great, I have purchased the book since I’ve seen your projects on the blog. Sadly, I also ordered the Yarn Harlot’s newest book along with and it will not ship until June! JUNE! I’m going to die before it arrives, I’m sure of it.

Congrats and love to Lucy.

125 Sharon 04.01.07 at 3:36 pm

I discovered your blog thru the Knitting Guild’s message board. I also have your book and loved it. (I have a rescue cat, also).

For me, this is the year of the Fair Isle. I’ve completed two ski sweaters and am now working on a vest in purples, red, and yellow.

Wishing you decades more of good knitting and good blogging.

126 Kelley 04.01.07 at 3:39 pm

I looked over Victorian Lace Today when I received it, and didn’t even notice the Alpine Lace, but I had to go back after I saw yours!

Happy Anniversary!

127 jenn 04.01.07 at 3:39 pm

happy five year blogiversary!

128 Jo in Boston 04.01.07 at 3:41 pm

Happy Blogiversary! Glad Lucy is feeling better.

129 Julie Ernst 04.01.07 at 3:44 pm

Thanks for five years of such stunning (and prolific!!) knitting, Wendy. I’m happy to hear Lucy is feeling better, too.

130 --Deb 04.01.07 at 3:45 pm

Happy blogiversary! Wow, five years . . .

And, comments? I don’t get nearly as many as you, of course, so I try to respond to each one, even if it’s just a quick, “Thanks!” There are some bloggers for whom this isn’t practical . . . you, for example, or the Harlot . . . anyone dealing with hundreds of comments a day is automatically exempt, I think . . . but I’m not so busy that I can’t at least say something back to anyone nice enough to leave me a comment. It seems only fair . . .

Or, well, either that, or I try to get to THEIR blog to leave them one. Turnabout is fair play….

131 Bonney 04.01.07 at 3:45 pm

Happy Fifth!! I thought of your Mom the other day; I was looking through some McCalls Needlecraft magazines from the sixties and there were lots of knitted coats. Very ambitious knitting!

132 Mandy 04.01.07 at 3:45 pm

happy blogiversary!

I am so happy to see Lucy recovering!

133 Emma in Seattle 04.01.07 at 3:46 pm

Congratulations on 5 years, Wendy. I read your blog every day you post.

134 Leslie 04.01.07 at 3:48 pm

Wow - you tell people to enter a contest by commenting and your comment box is overflowing. With 128 comments in front of me I am NOT going to read each one - at least not right now. Maybe tomorrow, at work, if I’m bored :)
Happy 5 years and 7500 miles, Wendy. I check you 5 days a week, both for your prodigious knitting content and the Lucy photos. I’ve learned a lot from you over the past few years and thank you for it.

It’s good to know Lucy’s feeling better too.

135 georg 04.01.07 at 3:51 pm

I’m glad to hear Lucy is getting better. Tom sends purrs.

136 berrienisd 04.01.07 at 3:51 pm

Happy 5th anniversary! Keep blogging please! I like the progress pictures–and the blocking pictures. I’ve learned a lot.

The alpine lace is very lovely. I like the center panel effect and the texture seems to be nice & fibery. Looks soft.

Diesel (my calico longhair) wishes Lucy a little kitty wink & a purr to get well.

137 Kay 04.01.07 at 3:55 pm

Happy Blogaversary! Lucy looks so content. Did this pet food recall cause you to adjust her food? Lexi has always eaten Iams and pretty much refuses anything else. I’m glad the dry was not affected although we had to give up her Sunday “treat” of her pouch of Select Bites. :-(

138 Meghann 04.01.07 at 3:55 pm

Wow! Five years, that’s awesome! I love the Alpine lace….so very pretty:)

139 KC 04.01.07 at 3:56 pm

Wow, five years!
I was really interested to hear your comments on comments. I have a new blog and I am relatively new to the blogging world and I have wondered about comment etiquette. when should you comment on other’s blogs? Every time you enjoy reading it? That can be every day! or just when you have something to add to what they posted about? Also, what you said about responding to comments. My blog is new and I am no writer so I don’t get many comments and I would hate to make any readers feel unapreciated! any more thoughts on the issue would be great!

140 Saisquoi 04.01.07 at 3:56 pm

Happy Blogiversary!

Gotta say I agree with your comments re: simple lace and variegated yarn. My personal favorite use for variegated laceweight is Fiber Trends Shoalwater Shawl, which is old shale lace and garter stitch. It’s one of the few patterns I’ve found where the color changes enhance the lace rather than distract.

The alpine lace is gorgeous, btw. Can’t wait to see it blocked!

141 daisie 04.01.07 at 3:56 pm

happy blogday to you - and Lucy too!
Thank you for the regular posts, the news of naughty socks, the photos of Lucy, the yarn pr0n, and for writing your book which I ordered a few days ago and await with baited breath! one day I hope that just by reading your blog regularly I will magically be able to knit toe-up!

142 loribird 04.01.07 at 3:59 pm

Happy 5th blogiversary! May there be many more for our reading pleasure :)

143 Meg 04.01.07 at 4:01 pm

I’ll come right out and admit I’m commenting to be entered in the drawing! I love your blog–I’m currently working on some socks in Malamute from Yarn Pirate. You’re so darn fast you beat me to it, though!

144 LoriO 04.01.07 at 4:02 pm

Happy bogiversary! I’m sure I’ve been reading for the entire 5 years.

Glad Lucy is on the mend!

145 Miki 04.01.07 at 4:02 pm

With all that pampering, I would want to be your cat when I get reincarnated!

146 Cathy 04.01.07 at 4:04 pm

Happy fifth anniversary! Good to see Miss Lucy is feeling better.

I just tried foam tiles for shawl blocking and LOVE them. These are from an “interlocking fitness mat” found on Amazon - $20 for four 2′ x 2′ tiles.

147 Renee 04.01.07 at 4:05 pm

Congrats on this milestone. I started reading your blog in January ‘07 after enjoying your book. It is the first blog I ever read and boy am I surprised now to see how many are out there. But it is the only one I read daily because of your intelligence and of course the product reviews.
I am glad that Lucy is in your care. We have 62 cats here on our farm (all S/N’d, vaccinated, and dewormed!) as I run a rescue. Cats really do have at least nine lives and I don’t think Lucy is using one of hers on this one.

148 Michelle 04.01.07 at 4:06 pm

Happy Blogiversary!

Poor Lucy..I send my get well wishes!

149 Jes 04.01.07 at 4:07 pm

Happy Blogiversary! I always look forward to reading your latest updates (as well as the pictures!)

150 Abby 04.01.07 at 4:08 pm

Happy Blogiversay! I’m delurking to wish you many more years of blogging about knitting!

151 Badger 04.01.07 at 4:10 pm

Happy blogiversary! You and your blog are an inspiration.

Hope Lucy gets better soon :)

152 pennie 04.01.07 at 4:10 pm

Congrats on your anniversary! 5 years…wow!

153 Molly 04.01.07 at 4:11 pm

Happy blogiversary! I’m glad that Lucy is on the mend. Yours is one of my favorite blogs to read because you have my two favorite things, cats and knitting. Though, I do hold you responsible for getting me addicted to lace knitting. Here’s to another five years!

154 Sally A 04.01.07 at 4:11 pm

Happy 5th. I’ll drink a toast to you and the next 5. Yours is one of only 5 blogs I read daily so you are part of my daily routine! I keep hoping if I read enough your talent will come through the blogosphere into my fingers making me a better knitter! Thanks for another year, Wendy.

155 cari 04.01.07 at 4:13 pm

happy blogiversary! My how the time flies… Remember when you could click through the whole ring on one cup of coffee?

(I swear I would have commented without fibery prizey incentive)

156 Nessa 04.01.07 at 4:14 pm

Happy Blogiversary!! Your sweet Lucy inspired me to get the STR Lucy and I made my son a bonnet out of it because his eyes are so blue. So I think of you every time I put the bonnet on him, LOL!

157 Pat 04.01.07 at 4:18 pm

Well from someone who has had a blog for less than 1 year, I have to say WOW!! - 5 years is a long time to keep this up - thank you for taking all the time and energy needed to produce your wonderful, always inspiring blog….I’m looking forward to the next 5 years!!

158 Holly 04.01.07 at 4:18 pm

Happy Blogiversary! I only get to read you now and then, but I must admit I used your “Toe Up” tutorial from knitty.com to start my STR socks. Without it, the skein would just be another “pet yarn”.
Note: I NEVER let my cats look at your blog/Lucy. They might get ideas of how they should be pampered!

159 Juliana 04.01.07 at 4:18 pm

Hello, hello! Your plan seems to work well, considering the amount of comments you are getting here! Congratulations on the 5th year, that’s very cool. And I like you answering comments, it’s like you carry on a converation. Lucy looks happy, I am sure she is weel spoiled and loves your attention. I kow my cats did! So keep up the Lucy report. Fame suits her.

160 Debbye 04.01.07 at 4:19 pm

Since drawing day (April 5) is my birthday, I simply must enter! Happy blog anniversary! As an idea for Judy, I’m using the Open Diamonds pattern from Victorian Lace for — believe it or not — a wrap made Scarlet Fleece Poodle Skirt in the DK weight. It’s a bit loud, but kinda cool and should look great with an all-black outfit. Not making the fancy borders, just simple garter borders. Judy could challenge herself with the fancy borders if she likes how the yarn makes up in the Open Diamond pattern. If the yarn isn’t too variegated, it might work well. My beloved Birman, Sunny, whose looks are similar to Lucy’s, sends her get-well wishes.

161 Leanne 04.01.07 at 4:19 pm

I don’t expect a reply to comments unless I ask a direct question, and on a busy blog like this one, I tend to do so very rarely, as I figure it must be overwhelming to get so many questions. Happy 5th!

162 Jennifer 04.01.07 at 4:19 pm

Happy Blogiversity! I have been a reader since Deli, um, March of 2005.

163 Kellie 04.01.07 at 4:19 pm

Happy Bloggiversary Wendy! You have brought years of reading pleasure to so many people.

Good to hear Miss Lucy was thoroughly spoiled this weekend!

164 Heather 04.01.07 at 4:20 pm

I’m glad Lucy is feeling better.
My littlest kitty, TwoTone, is limping a little this week himself. He was denutted a few days ago lol.

165 Jen 04.01.07 at 4:24 pm

Happy Blogiversary!

Let´s see… Five years ago today I watching my .com go under, wondering if they were going to be able to pay me. I ended up leaving within the month, and started working an NGO in DC. So, this would have been a pivotal time for me as well. That job change has really changed my entire life, and is how I met my husband. Funny how that goes.

Congrats!
Jen

166 Shelly Kang 04.01.07 at 4:24 pm

Happy Bloggiversary! Here’s to another five years!

167 Pawdua 04.01.07 at 4:24 pm

Wendy,
Happy Blog Anniversary. Thank you for all your wonderful writing and knitting knowledge. I have really learned from your blog. I hope Lucy is feeling better. Sje helps me get my kitty fix since I’ve been catless for several years (allergy problems). Hope you have another happy 5 years of blogging.

Pawdua

168 Plum Texan 04.01.07 at 4:25 pm

Happy Blogiversary! And keep on pampering that gorgeous kitty! :)

169 M 04.01.07 at 4:26 pm

Yay! 5 years of blogging. Happy anniversary!

170 limedragon :-: Harriet 04.01.07 at 4:27 pm

Happy Blogiversary! : ) Lucy looks happy!

171 Bliss 04.01.07 at 4:27 pm

Happy Blogiversary! I hope Lucy feels better soon, but I’m sure she is soaking up all the extra attention. She deserves the princess treatment.

Wendy, I don’t know how you do everything you do, AND make us glad we stopped by every time. I’m looking forward to many more years.

172 Laura 04.01.07 at 4:28 pm

Happy Blogiversary! I discovered the world of online blogs about a year ago, and yours was one of the first I found! Thanks for all the great info, tips, and pictures of Lucy (who reminds me of my Himalayan)! Your knitting is inspiring.

173 Deb in PA 04.01.07 at 4:29 pm

Congrats on the 5 years! It’s amazing how the time flies.

Thanks for keeping the online knitting community a great place to visit.

Deb in PA

174 Linda 04.01.07 at 4:30 pm

Thanks for a great blog! It is always inspirational to pop in to you…

175 Annika 04.01.07 at 4:33 pm

Happy Blogiversary! I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your sock pattern, which I use frequently. My favorite thing to use it for is worsted weight baby socks/booties — they knit up in not time! (Though I learned today that I shouldn’t make up stitch patterns before I’ve had coffee. Those booties got frogged.)

176 Sonya 04.01.07 at 4:33 pm

Happy blogiversary, Wendy. I use your site often as a resource. Thank you for the info you provide.

177 Becky 04.01.07 at 4:36 pm

Happy Blogiversary dear! I’ve quite enjoyed reading your blog for the last year or so. I look forward to reading it for years to come.

And it’s not wrong to whore for comments. They are the fun part of blogging. :)

178 auntiemichal 04.01.07 at 4:36 pm

Happy Blogday, and many more! Your posts are one of my daily computer musts (even higher than banking!). Thank you! Is that enough exclamations?!?!?

179 Dani 04.01.07 at 4:36 pm

Happy blogiversary indeed! Thanks for all the inspiration, information, motivation and, um, Lucy-fication?

Congrats! 5 years is a mighty long time!

180 mote 04.01.07 at 4:37 pm

Happy blogiversary! Your blog is definitely one of my favourites!

181 Shannon H. 04.01.07 at 4:38 pm

Holy comment whoring, Batman! 175 comments and counting…

Happy 5 year blogiversary, Wendy! Hoping for many more years!!!

182 kit 04.01.07 at 4:39 pm

Congrats to 5 years! I hope you go at least another 5. I love reading your blog. And I come out of lurk-dom for “blatant whoring for fibre-y goodies!!”
Give Lucy a special hug for us!

183 Linda 04.01.07 at 4:39 pm

I have a Red Setter (Irish Setter) who has a poorly paw too! He lays at my feet while I am knitting, seldom interfers with my yarn, but gives a pitiful look whilst holding up his poorly paw!

184 Judy 04.01.07 at 4:39 pm

Happy blogiversary!

THanks for the answer to my question–I’ll try to get a good photo of the yarn soon. The trouble is it’s so slow to change colors that the ball doesn’t show much, and the individual strand of yarn is so fine that it doesn’t show up at all. I’ll do my best. The Skaska site doesn’t have photos of the yarn I bought, either, and I did a google image search for it, but didn’t find much, either. It’s a special mystery yarn, I guess.

So a simpler lace, hmm? What would that mean, exactly? Only lace work on the RS?

One of your readers posted a comment for me on my blog that the Alpine pattern might be nice, actually…I’ve been drooling over yours, so maybe that’s a possibility.

Thanks again for the post/answer–and happy happy happy 5th anniversary!

185 Sarah 04.01.07 at 4:44 pm

Happy Blogiversary!!
5 years is worth a comment, whether or not you’re giving away fiber!
I think I’ve been lurking for about three of those five years–and enjoyed every bit of it.

186 Judi 04.01.07 at 4:45 pm

Happy anniversary. Your blog is one of the bright spots in my day and I have learned a LOT from your website too. This is one of the few blogs that I have gone back and read all the archives for. I like the way you explain things and I love the pictures of Lucy.

187 Julia 04.01.07 at 4:45 pm

Happy Blog Anniversary! Miss Lucy looks much better, clearly pampering agrees with her. Sign me up for your drawing please!

188 Keiko 04.01.07 at 4:46 pm

Happy 5th Blogiversary, Wendy!

I think your balance of comment response is pretty good, actually. I don’t think you have to respond to every comment, and clearly you do read all the comments, so that should be that.

189 Julia 04.01.07 at 4:46 pm

Happy anniversary, Wendy! You’ve not only contributed a lot to the knitting community, but also to the blogging community and you should be proud of that. We’re happy you’re here and you have been an inspiration. I’d love to hear a review of your interlocking foam squares (and also where you got them) since I’ve heard them mentioned on several blogs and am interested in perhaps getting some myself, but would like to hear your opinion. Thanks!

190 Stephanie 04.01.07 at 4:46 pm

Ha! This makes it a perfect time for me to write a comment I’ve been thinking of lately…

Sooo, happy blogiversary!

I have a question for you. I’m a high school senior and I have to go the the prom this year, my first formal ever. A knitting friend of mine brought up the fact that we’re going to need a wrap or shrug of some kind over our dresses and that we should knit our own!

So, I figure this is the perfect time to try some lace knitting. I’m a pretty new knitter but I love trying new things. But, I am searching the Internet for free patterns and can’t find something quite to my liking, so I figured, why not ask WendyKnits for her recommendation? She’s a lace knitter. Do you have a recommendation for a beginner rectangular lace shawl pattern that I could finish in about a month? And where I could find it? It doesn’t have to be free — just that I don’t know where to look other than the Internet’s free patterns, and I figure you know of books with good patterns that I could either check out from the library or buy from Amazon.

Happy Blogiversary!

I just started reading your blog and I love it. I spent a day at work goofing off every time I got a chance by reading archives of your blog.

I enjoy your blog before I begin my teaching day with 23 Fifth Graders. I have rediscovered knitting in the last couple of years, but mostly enjoy looking at the beautiful projects you make. You are truly an inspiration to many of us! Thank you for the time you take to write your blog.
