Thanks for all your nice comments about my Knitty pattern and article. I appreciate your support!

And just in case you missed it . . . this is my design:

There’s nothing like a little shameless self-promotion, eh?

There’s lots of great stuff in this issue of Knitty — if you haven’t yet, head over and take a look! As usual, Amy and the gang did a wonderful job.

Yesterday was a cold and windy day. Does this qualify as March coming in like a lion? Because I am so ready for it to go out like a lamb.

So is Izzy. She spent most of yesterday huddled under the quilt, but came out for a photo op.

Oregon

mar0303.jpg

As you can see, I’m starting the border pattern. I’ve got that and the cuff ribbing to do, then Oregon is done. I was asked in the comments if there was any color I had way too much of (since I reported I ran short of two colors yesterday). The pattern calls for two skeins of Blue Grass. I’ve still got a bit to go, but I’m pretty sure I won’t be touching the second skein. Go figure.

The yarn for Henry VIII is on its way to me so I’ll be able to start that soon. In the meantime, I’ve got a couple of small projects I could be working on . . .

Windows XP Update

Since installing Windows XP last Friday, my computer has not crashed, not even once.

Well I gotta go to work . . . have a great day!

I really like your pieces in Knitty Wendy. And the top button rocks!

Don’t you just hate it when the yarn amounts are wrong ? Drives me crackers ! Thanks for letting us know - luckily hadn’t sent my order to J&S yet.
Are you sick of knitting Oregon yet ? Did I detect a tiny note of relief in this post ,now that there’s just a little of the border and cuff to do ? It really looks stunning ,and I’m looking forward to seeing you model the finished article . ;-]

Suprisingly, I’m not sick of knitting Oregon. I’ve been going slower on it the past couple of weeks due to some back pain that doesn’t let me sit still for too long. :-(
I’ll be interested to hear if others have the same yarn experience with Oregon. When I run short I always wonder if it isn’t just me.

I just love that Baby Norgi!! :)
I notice when I’m doing socks that my hands get a little cramped, does that happen with you too? Or do you have suggestions as to how to counteract it?? I’m too young for arthritis..hehe.

Sorry about the back pain, that is the WORST! :( Especially when your hobby kinda requires you to be seated.

Fortunately, I have no problems with my hands cramping on small projects. Are you using dpns or circulars? I use dpns and never have had a problem . . .

Wendy - I’m so amazed by how fast you made Oregon — it’s practically done and I’m just starting the body of my PW sweater (both sleeves are done) that I started, oh around the same time you started this! And it’s on size 8s!! Although I’ve been inspired to do an AS pullover, I’m quite daunted by the prospect of 300 stitch rounds on size 3 needles. I may be buried in the sweater!

Sorry about the back pain — shoveling?

Hi Wendy, Love the baby Norgi. I just found out I’m gonna be a grandmother (42 feels too young) and your design is gonna be one of my gifts!

Wendy, I use DPNS…the 6″ size 3’s for the socks I’m knitting right now. I think it’s partly because they’re the smallest needles I’ve used yet, and I’m not used to holding them. :) I love using DPNs though..I can’t see myself ever using circs for socks..but one never knows..hehe.

That last little computer comment might be tempting fate…..;-)

Loved seeing your pattern in Knitty. Knitty is, as the kids say, way cool. Seriously, I’m very impressed by the range of patterns and info. Great being able to see your work in TWO, count ‘em, TWO places.

RE your back - I started doing gentle yoga about 6 years ago when I hurt my back - still doing gentle yoga and haven’t had a problem since.

Wendy, Thanks for the e-mail this morning with your suggestions for my socks. Think I’ll try the 2K2P for the ribbing. I don’t think I can decrease around the ankle because I need those stitches to go above the ankle—does that make sense? Re running out of yarn on a project—I have in the past and will continue (especially after ready your blog yesterday) order the largest size in a kit or pattern just to have the extra yarn. I can always find something to do with the excess. :)

I am so excited about the baby Norgi… it’s perfect. Even the colors I wouldn’t change. I have to finish DH’s norgi first LOL or he will get jealous. Thanks for the heads up on the steeking article too. I’m so nervous that the floats are going to get eaten up by the tread thing on my sewing machine. I think it’s just the general paranoia of steeking that is making me so irrational. Anyway, I don’t much have to worry about it until I finish the sleeves…

For sewing the steeks - I read that if your machine catches the fabric, you should place a piece of tissue paper under your sweater and sew through it. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m getting there!
