She wasn’t such an angel an hour ago! ;-)

Yarn on the counter!!!! Aren’t you nervous about spilling something on it!! Or perhaps, you are such a wiz in the kitchen that there would be no possible way an escapee would hit the yarn.

What’s this from L-B that Lucy wasn’t such an angel an hour ago!! Do tell. :-) I love naughty kittie stories.

Have a great long weekend and yummmmm the cake looks good!

Yikes. I saw the whisky bottle and thought that’s what you were refering to when you said ‘obligatory morning beverage’! Phew! :)

Looks like that cake packs a punch!! Yummmy!

Dude! You even have yarn — Good Yarn — in the kitchen! Dedicated knitter. Love the red of the Wollmeise, Love the cake (wish I had one Right N-O-W), and especially love the pic. Interesting composition of things you don’t expect to see sharing a kitchen counter, especially the cat face-topped ceramic.

I wish I had time today to bake! The cakes look goooood.

Here I thought it was going to be a still life of addictions or aides through the day.
Although with the absence of chocolate I guess I’m just being silly.

I was thinking about baking today, cold and rainy here, so baking and knitting work…
Happy Birthday to your Mom, too!

I love Svedka - so good and usually cheaper than anything else that doesn’t come in a plastic bottle.

At the duty-free store on the way home from a conference in Sweden, I picked up a lonely bottle 0f Viking Fjord vodka. Pretty good, despite the touristy name.

I’d wholeheartedly second WendyT’s concern about the yarn on the counter, but I have to question is whiskey can really do anything to yarn but improve it.
For the record, I don’t know if I’ll be the one to test this theory…

The rest of the week includes a Friday, and a 3-day weekend. I do hope it’s safe to be optimistic about it. If it’s not, that would just not be fair.

It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who’s yarn stash has inflitrated the kitchen. It looks like your mom’s birthday celebration is going to be a good one!

so we mix the irish whiskey into the diet coke, and the swedish vodka into the pastry cream, and then we try to knit a cozy for our cell phone charger.

and to think all I did was go to work this morning… ;-)

have a good l-o-n-g holiday weekend!

26 Cathy 05.23.08 at 2:51 pm

Hi Wendy,
I would like to purchase your pattern for first sock 2008 Summer of Socks pattern; I tried to enroll, but believe it didn’t take. I have a ravery account, but am a turtle on my back with that whole thing. Anyway, where could I obtain your pattern? Thank you–and I Love Lucy.

27 Jody 05.23.08 at 2:55 pm

So…are the whiskey and vodka for the cake or the yarn? Sounds like a good start to the weekend, no matter what!

28 Laurie 05.23.08 at 4:11 pm

You didn’t mention the bottle of eyeglass cleaner. Clean glasses must not be necessary once all the other items are put to use….

Irish whiskey, Swedish vodka, American coke, Wollmeise yarn, and a Siamese cat. You are quite the continental gal!!

30 Issy 05.23.08 at 6:51 pm

Maybe a select few of those items should go with you on Tues to smooth out the work week! I’ll let you decide which ones!

31 Kristi ~ Ohio 05.23.08 at 7:35 pm

Happy Birthday Wendy’s Mom! Have a great holiday weekend.

32 Maureen J. 05.23.08 at 8:24 pm

Good ingredients for a birthday, if we assume the ice cream’s in the freezer and the chocolate is on its way home with KOARC. Have a happy one.

33 NewJerseyLaura 05.23.08 at 11:32 pm

Your stash runneth over. You crack me up. It’s like the tribbles. You’re also only the second person I know who drinks Tullamore Dew. Do you also play pinochle? I’ll reserve my Irish Coffee and knitting spot on the couch; I can bring the whipped cream.

34 Jeanne 05.23.08 at 11:37 pm

I love to see other people live the way I do… eyeglass cleaner, knitting, cooling cake and LOTS of booze, all withing one frame.

35 turtle 05.23.08 at 11:45 pm

Hmmm….liquor, cake yarn and a charger. Sounds like a full and busy yet productive holiday weekend is planned! Kitty will continue to sleep.

You’re ready for anything with that “still life”, Wendy. I’ve managed to get one order of Wollmeise ….keep trying every Sneak Up, but I’ve only been able get the green, which I loved. Never, ever, give up is my motto, however…so maybe next time.

Hope your Mom has a happy birthday …and enjoys her cake. It looks beautiful…

37 Kathy Sue 05.24.08 at 2:23 am

I agree–you need some chocolate!! A Happy Birthday to your Mom. I’ll bet she’s thrilled that they made a long weekend for her celebration.

Lucy looks so sweet–I think L-B is spreading false rumors!

38 Jun 05.24.08 at 7:12 am

I love your kitchen counter’s assemblage. It is a real knitter’s kitchen!

39 Debbie 05.24.08 at 9:36 am

Okay, does the whiskey go in the cake, Lucy, or your mouth??!! HA! I loved this post!

40 Helen 05.24.08 at 5:20 pm

I love how the yarn is snuggled next to the alcohol. What’s in the cat container between cake 1 and the tray o’yarn? Stitchmarkers, Lucy treats, nothing?

41 4b1L 05.24.08 at 6:39 pm

whiskey and vodka is good for your weekend :D

Love that Coke with Lime. Love Coke in the morning, too. The cake looks good. What kind of frosting? Happy Memorial Day Weekend! (Of course you need yarn in the kitchen so you can knit while the cake is baking, cooling and so on.)

45 Darci 05.25.08 at 11:41 am
