Random Thursday

by Wendy on August 7, 2008

Because I have achieved precious little knitting for much of the past 24 hours, you are now “treated” to a series of random images.

First, the sky at 6:10am today.

Then, a scary hallway at my office. I can just picture two pasty moon-faced little girls, holding hands, materializing there.

Next up, a cute little Welsh dragon who lives in my office.

And Shaun the Sheep, ready for inclement weather.

Miss Lucy von Ragdoll, being adorable. I love when she lies like this!

And I close with a shocking photo: evidence that I do not need to buy any more sock yarn for a long time. This is approximately half of my sock yarn stash.

Think that’ll stop me? No, I didn’t think so either.

That may trump my whole yarn stash. How do you fit all that in a condo?

2 Allison 08.07.08 at 5:36 pm

Ha! my credit with Loopy lasted 24hrs, as I was emailing Sherri about colors to make a shawl for a friends wedding. She of course suggested something that looks perfect and I ordered it. My Adamas shawl is taking forever and is at the blob stage, however I only have 2 more repeats until the final chart and I am trying to get them done by tomorrow!

3 Shea 08.07.08 at 5:39 pm

Wow. Just, wow. I have a stash, but it’s tiny compared to yours. If that’s half of your sock yarn stash, how big is the rest of your non-sock yarn stash?

Oh gosh that makes me ashamed of my meager sock yarn stash. On the other hand it gives me reason to buy more (”I must have as much as Wendy!”).

Lucy’s little furry tummy is so adorable.

Holy COW or should I say HOLY WOOL ? Dang girlfriend, I was worried I had too much wool stash… you’ve inspired me to go out and BUY that yarn I’ve been lusting after! ZOWIE! I also packrat cross stitch kits, needlepoint kits, books, books and more books… etc. Creative people are like that, huh? ;-)

Random pics are simply awweesummeeee!!!!!!!!! And Lucy kitty caught once again in an interpretative dance manuever. Such a little beauty! Have a wonderful wool-filled weekend! luv.m.

11 midgeling 08.07.08 at 5:58 pm

Is your work haunted? Mine is. I see shadows all the time in the office I work in. There’s one bathroom I won’t go in anymore because of the shadows that fly around in there. And then there’s the one elevator by Surgery that I can never breathe in. It’s creepy, but that’s what you get in a county hospital, I suppose.

And also - I sit here in awe of your sock yarn stash. You rock! Wow.

12 needleglyphs 08.07.08 at 5:58 pm

Wendy you are well stocked for the apocalypse, think of how you can knit socks and then trade them for other stuff, that is my excuse anyway for more sock yarn than I can ever knit in a lifetime

Honestly, I don’t know what I would do at 3 p.m. (Pacific) without this blog. I love the pics, and the stash….awesome. Big hug to Lucy, and wow, could your office corridors need some art? I wonder how many people you would stop in their tracks by doing a little knitting art for the walls…..

17 Zhenya 08.07.08 at 6:41 pm

Not to imply that you should take any more time away from your knitting… but I see a serious discrepancy between the size of the stash you just fessed up to and the size of your stash on Ravelry! Will we ever know all the details?!

I had wondered how you had the fortitude to give away so many beautiful yarns as prizes and incentives. Now I get it. What a luxury for the imagination!

I have a huge stash, too. But I keep seeing more sock yarns that I just have to have…

I love Lucy’s sweet belly!

21 Debra I 08.07.08 at 6:53 pm

Great stash storage! Is it sturdy? I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve decided to store my sock yarn stash by company — it’s too big to do it by type of yarn, i.e., tiny with high twist, Louet Gems-like (includes Claudia Hand Paints), fluffy favorites, and sock yarns destined to be knit up into shawls. The yarn is in file storage boxes, in ZipLoc bags. I can’t see them (so I don’t find myself distracted by all the pretty colors and just sit there, looking and drooling like an idiot), but I have them logged into a notebook — by company, with a description of the colors.

Seriously, how does that stash storage work for you? Do you go through every month to dust all the bags? That’s one of the reasons my stash is in boxes - with lids!

22 Linda S. 08.07.08 at 6:56 pm

When I see your stash I feel much better about mine. In fact maybe I could do a little yarn shopping tonight. Funny how we offer each other comfort and encouragement about our yarn stashing hobbies.

23 Suzanne V. (Yarnhog) 08.07.08 at 6:57 pm

That hallway looks like every hallway in every government building I ever set foot in when I worked in D.C. Definitely creepy.

The sock yarn is even more disturbing. Much as I love yarn, I don’t think I could sleep with the weight of that much expectation upon me!

Thank you for posting the picture of your stash again. It is always nice to know that other knitters “collect” yarn. My sock stash is not that large because I had a relatively large sweater/prayer shawl/Linus blanket stash when I started knitting socks and limited space. Gotta go figure out why I have 13 sts where I should have 12 in my Orchid Lace Scarf. I think I hear frogs.

Forget the size of the sock yarn stash… what impressed me is the wide range of colors. I seem to get stuck in a rut of the same family of colors more that I realize. My jaw dropped when I saw all of that sock yarn. How did you keep track of what you have - or do you even try? I found myself somewhat mesmerized by the picture :)
Does Lucy ever sleep in that position? Is that her way of asking for a tummy rub? I ask because both of my kitties have been known to sleep like that and both of them want tummy rubs when they lie like that awake. But my in-laws have a cat that lies like that and then attacks with claws if you touch his tummy. I also ask because I never tire of the Lucy stories.
