Transit Terror Revisited

Okay, for those of you who want to hear the story about the guy changing his clothes on the train, here it is. I went back through my archives to find it for you. Ain’t I sweet?

Of course, Jenny found it too, and posted the date in my comments. Thanks, Jenny!

Izzy . . .

. . . thoughtfully had worked up a few surprises for me when I arrived home last night. Several little piles of cat puke. She looks very proud of herself, doesn’t she?

Wendy’s Old Knitted Stuff

Russian Fair Isle

This sweater is from an issue of Vogue Knitting from the early ’90s. It’s knitted from Harrisville Shetland and is supposed to depict the Moscow skyline. It’s knitted in pieces and sewn together, not in the round. Hmmmmm, two-color rows on the wrong side. Nevertheless, it was great fun to knit. But I haven’t worn it in at least five years. I think it deserves an outing, don’t you?

Have a great weekend, everyone! It’s a long weekend for me Yay!

WOW!!! (The sweater, not the cat puke.) ;O)

I’m really enjoying the “back sweaters” theme!

Wow, this sweater is AWESOME! Don’t remember that issue, though. What issue do you remember it being from? Would like to get this pattern for myself, that’s for certain.

Unbelievable sweater Wendy…. I don’t think I would have the patience. How many sweaters do you have? Have you ever had a m*th problem?

4 Wendy 11.08.02 at 6:55 am

Melissa, I’m not sure how many sweaters I have — I’ve never counted them. I’ve given tons of them away. Nope never a m*th problem, thankfully! (Knocking wood.)

Lola, don’t know the issue number for the pattern as all my old magazines were lost in a flooding incident, but hopefully someone else will come up with it!

Oooh,I love the sweater in red and white. Wasn’t the original pattern in blue and white? I remember filing it away when I was doing a clear-out after I got married and we had too much stuff between us.Your trip down memory lane has me tempted to go through all those long-forgotten filed-away patterns, but then I get overwhelmed by all the sweaters I want to knit and where will the time come from? Can’t we all win the lottery and knit 18 hours a day? Oh, and to, Izzy…I hope you’re feeling better today! Hugs!

Don’t recall what colors the original pattern was done in . . . I’m surprised that I remember that it came from Vogue Knitting. :-)
Izzy’s feeling fine, thank-you. The gift of cat puke yesterday was, I think, a reminder to me that she is indeed a cat and must do that from time to time, as that’s what cats do.

Oh my gosh!!!! The sweater is absolutely gorgeous!!! I’m sure you have heard of Kim Komando the “computer goddess”—well–you should be known as Wendy Johnson, the “knitting goddess”. No joke. You are so talented. Thank you for your e-mail, by the way. I sent you another one about the button band. You have been such an inspiration! Hope Izzy is feeling better this morning.

Love the detail of this sweater. It’s beautiful.

Love the Moscow sweater - gotta have it! I will watch your blog to see if someone comes up the the issue. I bought your copies of the old Norwegian Knitters and the issue with the Peacock face cloth on Ebay. Let me know if you need to borrow them or any past issue of Knitters.

Wow! What an amazing sweater! Wendy, you rule the knitting universe!

12 Wendy 11.08.02 at 10:01 am

Thanks Kitty! :-)
Dianne, I sold all those back issues of knitting mags because I inherited a set from someone else — then after that mine were all destroyed! It figures, eh? Thanks for the offer of the loan!

Ah, poor Izzy!!!!! My kitties send their best wishes for a speedy recovery. It’s never fun to come home to those sorts of presents! The sweater is very cool…

Thanks Amy! Izzy seemed like her usual sassy self last night and this morning. Hopefully we won’t have a repeat of yesterday’s performance . . .

Beautiful sweater! I love the red/white combo. Also, your sock yarn is almost finished! Can you believe it? I intend to work on finishing it up this weekend. I’ll let you know Monday how it went. (We get our Veteran’s holiday next Friday instead of Monday!)
