Knitting in the Park for Critters•
Blankets Donated by Knit-a-Thoners
What’s this all about?
The Critter Knitters Knit-a-thon is a project started by two
knitters,
Liz and
Wendy, to make
and collect knitted blankets for shelter animals, in partnership
with the
Critter
Knitters Coalition.
What is the Critter Knitters Coalition?
The Critter Knitters Coalition was created in response to the dire
need for warm, comfortable blankets by abandoned animals in New York
animal shelters. These blankets help frightened cats and dogs feel
calm, and improve the quality of life for shelter animals while they
await their forever homes.
What Can I Do?
Anyone who wants to participate, send us as many knitted blankets as
you like -- one or twenty or two hundred.
For each blanket you donate, send a filled-out raffle ticket
(we'll link to Liz's raffle ticket page). If you don't have a
printer to print out the tickets, write the requested information on
a slip of paper -- one slip of paper for each blanket you send. At
the end of the project we'll draw tickets and award the raffle
prizes.
The prizes available are showcased here (link to prize page).
There are more prizes on their way so this page will be updated as
they come in. Be sure to check back!
What’s the Deadline for Knit-a-thon Contributions?
Send your contributions by July 31, 2004 to be included in the
drawing.

Where Can I Find Guidelines and Patterns for Blankets?
There are guidelines and patterns for blankets and afghans on the
Critter Knitters Coalition website
here.
The basic guidelines are:
» 18" x 18" for cats and small animals,
» 24" x 24" for cats and small to medium dogs,
» 36" x 36" for medium to large dogs.
These sizes are just guidelines. Your actual finished blanket
doesn't have to be exact. The Coalition will take all blankets and
put them to good use.
Do You Have Any Buttons I Can Put On My Site?
