My current work in progress:

Margaret Tudor, by Alice Starmore, knit from Frangipani Guernsey 5-ply in the Olive colorway, using 2.75mm needles.

Quick Update

I’m back from my quick trip to Delaware — had a great time!

I took the train up on Friday and was met at the station by my hostess, Janice aka Obstiknit (pssst! Janice is participating in a three-day breast cancer walk in October — check out her cancer walk blog for details).

We attended a potluck dinner at her LYS Stitches With Style that night. It was great to hang out with all these fun knitters. Saturday I taught two classes on techniques for toe-up socks, then hopped on the train to come home.

Janice and her 4 beautiful kitties were great hosts — thanks, y’all! And thanks to Linda and everyone at Stitches With Style for making me feel so welcome and ensuring I had such a great time.

Today was for hanging out with my Lucy and doing exciting things like laundry.

I knit some on my still-un-named circular shawl.

Oh, and I drew a winner for the Martha Stewart cupcake book — Mary. If your name is Mary and you entered the contest, check your email to see if you are the Mary, because I’ve send you a message.

Hello Cupcake

Check out this lovely book:

This is Martha Stewart’s Cupcakes: 175 Inspired Ideas for Everyone’s Favorite Treat, published by Clarkson Potter on June 2, 2009. I was lucky enough to receive a review copy.

This is 352 pages of delicious recipes, good advice, step-by-step how-tos, and glorious photo-styling.

Don’t these look yummy?

And you gotta love a dinosaur cupcake!

The step-by-step techniques are meticulously illustrated:

There are even templates and clipart for cupcake toppers!

When I got this book for review, I was overwhelmed with greed and thought about keeping it for myself. But given that I can’t remember the last time I made cupcakes, and have no plans to make them in the foreseeable future, I’ll pass this book along to one of you.

If you’d like to be entered in the drawing to receive my copy of this gorgeous book, leave a comment to this blog post. On Sunday July 12 around noon Eastern time, the Random Number Generator will pick a winner.

Me? I’m still shawl knitting.

Lucy is not sure how she feels about that.
