The Mansion on O Street

The event I taught at yesterday, the Designer Scavenger Hunt put on by fibrespace was great fun. It was held at the Mansion on O Street, in northwest Washington DC near Dupont Circle.

The Mansion on O Street has to be seen to be believed.

The event started with a brunch. Here’s the room where we had brunch.

And the other end of the room:

After eating we did a little exploring, and I snapped a few pix of some of the rooms. Like this:

There are a bunch of bedrooms, and you can stay in them, like a hotel (for a large price). I lost count of how many huge flat panel televisions I saw as we went through the rooms.

The students had clues and had to search the mansion to find the classrooms where the teachers were teaching. To reach my classroom, they had to go through the kitchen (where people were working!), and open a secret door behind pantry shelves. Up a few stone steps and lo and behold!

My classroom. I taught my classes in the wine cellar. How fun is that?

I kept eyeing this bottle of champagne on one of the shelves:

My favorite champagne. It was still there when I left so you may now applaud my restraint.

I had a great time, but boy, am I tired today!

I’m not doing much knitting here today, but guess what I finished on Saturday night? A hint:

I’ll talk about that tomorrow.
