My current work in progress:

1. Segel, designed by Lea Viktoria, knit from Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply Toes in the "Draco" gradient set on a 3.5 mm (U.S. size 4) needle.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

Status

The Knitting Status:

The Talisman Shawl is a few rows longer than it was the last time I posted photos. But just a few.

I have high hopes for this weekend, when we are supposed to get what might actually be a “significant” snowfall.

I dearly wish that said significant snowfall is significant enough to stall all activities in the region and cause the government to close with admin leave for all on both Monday and Tuesday. Why, yes, my holiday leave starts Wednesday. How did you know?

I realize this is not very likely, but hey! A girl can dream, right?

The Hair Status:

It’s still red.

It’s been just about a year since I started henna-ing it.

The Heat Status:

I have not yet turned on the heat.

I think it’s comfy in here!

The Lucy Status:

She’s snuggled up on her sheepskin due to the heat status.

Though I still do not understand how she, with her lovely thick fur coat, can be chilly when I am not.

What a Difference a Year Makes

I was digging through my archives last night (looking for a recipe I posted last December) and I came across a photo of my hair I posted shortly after I started using henna on it. December 14 of last year:

And here is a picture of it today.

I’d no idea it had grown so much — even having had 2 haircuts in the last year.

What a Difference a Day Makes

Yesterday it was raining and miserable.

The sky this morning:

There appears to be something flying through the sky there. I wonder what it was? Not a plane or helicopter — this is a no-fly zone.

Droid Question

In the comments Lisa asked:

About the Droid…how are you finding the battery life? I would really like to get one, but that is the one thing holding me back. I keep hearing that the battery dies really quickly and has to be recharged a lot. What do you think?

The answer, like so many things in life is . . . it depends.

It depends, of course, on usage.

If you have gps and wifi turned on and a bunch of apps running, your battery is going to drain more quickly than if you don’t. I keep gps and wifi turned off because I don’t use it all the time. There are apps you can get that put a switch on the Droid desktop to enable you to quickly turn off gps, wifi, etc.

I don’t spend all day on my phone. A typical day for me includes a few calls, a bit of websurfing and news checking, email checks a couple of day. At the end of the day I have 90% battery power.

It’s All Over Except the Bind-off

And binding off I am. Or I will be momentarily.

Quickie

I’m just popping in to announce the winners in the “suggest music for Wendy’s iPod” contest. They are: Katherine, Melia, April, Gail Lucille, and Tonya. Congratulations to you five and thank you for everyone who suggested songs in the comments. The winners have been emailed, and each win the WendyKnits pattern of their choice.

I arrived home at 9:00 last night from my weekend in Manhattan. This morning was devoted to a lot of errands, and since returning home and finishing the laundry, I’ve done nothing but lie on the couch. Ah, the joys of getting older.

I’ll be back tomorrow. Hopefully coherent. But I’m not making any promises.

Here is a sign that autumn is coming:
