My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

First, this is my excuse for not being able to type. Could I possibly file down my claws? Maybe, but that would cut into my knitting time.

I finished the first of Dave’s socks last night. Here it is. Are you all wondering why I’ve been whining about how big this sock is?

Here it is next to one of Odie’s socks.

I also did some work on Valtos last night, but you don’t get a photo. See, this way you’ll be all the more excited to see it tomorrow. Right? Huh?

I’m a few rows away from starting armhole decreases, so that’s pretty exciting, no?

Also exciting — I have my next Knitty assignment. Yippeee!

  1. Elizabeth says:

    Hi Wendy,
Imagine my surprise when I got onto my computer and found your new blog in place of the old one! I’ve been in Canada (drove all the way there and back from NC) for two weeks and had a lot of catching up to do. Although I took my trusty lap top with me, I wasn’t able to get on line up there. I’m sure there is a way, but I’m not that computer suavy ๐Ÿ™ Anyway, I love your new site!!
Enjoyed reading about your typical day in Knitty. Don’t know how in this world you do all that in one day. You must be a terrific manager! Looking forward to your next assignment.

You’re right, your brother does have a huge foot. His sock really dwarfed Odie’s. ๐Ÿ™‚ I love the colors. One of these days I’ll try knitting a pair just to see if I can. I have a horrible time with double pointed needles though.

    Have a good day.

  2. Hi Elizabeth,

Glad you found your way over to my new blog!

In fairness to my brother and his big feet, Odie’s sock is for a size 4.5 shoe. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. You get assignments from Knitty? *turning green* I’ve decided my new goal is to get something (anything!) in there.

And I know you’re not supposed to let the cat out of the bag on what you’re writing, but I’ll whine about wanting to know anyway! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Heh heh heh. I’ll NEVER reveal the secrets of Knitty!

  5. Hi Wendy – I love the picture of the two socks together. I can see why it would have been kind of a nightmare to do those socks in the darker color that you were considering. If that Regia yarn is the one I’m thinking of, it also comes in a kind of dark pastel color scheme. I knit a pair with that yarn (#5025, maybe?) and I really liked knitting with it. It was smooth…and made for quick knitting.

  6. oh, yeah – and I really like your new blog. movable type is fun, isn’t it!

  7. i cannot even deal with how long your nails are! how do you manage??

  8. Ah Mary, then you can understand my sock angst!

  9. “I’ll NEVER reveal the secrets of Knitty!” eh? I bet I could break you. Unless you pull that tricky government mind stuff on me….. please don’t, I’ll be good, I swear.
Okay, I won’t try to get anything out of you until a few minutes before the launch (no doubt a few minutes AFTER it’s supposed to launch, heh heh), then it’s no holds barred.

  10. HA! You’ll never squeeze and Knitty secrets out of me. I have strength of mind. :-0
