Better One? Or Better Two?

Which do you guys prefer? Images embedded in the text, or in a pop-up window? I’ve done it both ways in today’s blog.

Leave me a comment. Make yourself heard. Influence my blog. You know you want to.

I like the popups – but that could be just because I’m used to them. Also it doesn’t make a page that is so full of photos it takes forever to load – at home I’m on a dialup (am I the last person on earth not to have DSL) so that is important to me! (PS why are we required to put our e-mail addresses in the comment window? just curious)

  2. Elizabeth says:

Wendy, I like the in-text photos better. I also have a dial-up [Caroline, guess we are the only two people with dial-up :)], but I had no problem with down loading the images. As soon as I clicked on the web site, they were there. Anyway, the reason I like them in the text is because I can print them. If they are pop-up, I don’t have that option. I like to print them for future reference. Elizabeth

  3. It depends. If it is a small photo, embedded is best, if it’s a large photo, pop-ups are better.

  4. I like the in text ones better too. I guess huge pics would be better as a pop-up, but I’m on a faaaast connection. :O) What I really want, tho, is the TAG BOARDS BACK!! Ergh…

  5. I like both, but I’m used to pop ups on your page so I think I like them better for you. Either is fine, really, I just hate when people have the pics on different pages altogether because then I’m much less likely to look at them as I’m a lazy bugger.

  6. Yeah Theresa, what’s up with our tag boards? They’ve been wonky since last night. Grrrrrrr.

Caroline, the reason you are required to enter yur email address when commenting here is that the system sends me an email when I get a new comment. The email shows your (the writer’s) email as the return address. I supposed if I turned off the email notification of comment you wouldn’t have to enter an email addy, but I like finding out immediately when one of you has left me a gem. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I think I like pop-ups better, but any pictures are great!

  8. imbedded. i suppose if i had a slow modem, i wouldn’t like that, but i don’t so i do.

    does that make sense?

  9. Caroline, sometimes leaving your e-mail address is eventually helpful. I asked a question on a few months ago, and got an answer out of the blue a few weeks later. I posted a comment on, and have since been contacted by the wonderful editor, Amy, with a follow-up question on my comment. Not such a bad thing.

  10. I’d much rather have the pop-up windows. It makes it quicker to load and it means I don’t have to look at endless pictures of socks if I don’t want to. I haven’t got the sock bug yet but maybe time will tell.

  11. i like the embedded better to (as I also have dial up modem–eeek) I am a daily visitor to your blog. I am a devotee to crochet, but am learning to knit–your work is AMAZING!!!! and inspiring!!!

  12. Embedded. I don’t usually click on links while I’m reading blogs, and my only glimpses of what you’re working on are whatever Izzy is wearing!

  13. Here: I’ll confuse everyone and say I like both. It’s sort of fun to have it both ways, sometimes embedded, sometimes pop-up. My only needs/wants are that you keep posting your gorgeous pictures, and that you keep doing the Izzy w/knitting photos. But I’m not picky.

  14. Wendy…I’m casting my vote for both. I think embedded images make blogs more interesting but I’ve also enjoyed your pop-ups, especially when you have several pics you are sharing.

Carolyn, you are not alone…we still use dial-up. Just not ready to spend the extra $$ for DSL.

BTW – I was noticed the times you all are posting comments…whoa! you all are definately morning people!

  15. Caroline F says:

Theresa I’m not that much of a morning person! I posted at 8:30 am eastern time – this must timestamp things with west coast time!

  16. Wendy,
I like the pop-up….i look at your site at work each morning and i just wonder what my boss would say if he saw skeins of yarn on my screen :)…pop ups allow me to be in control somewhat of what is showing…i love your site and go to bed at night wondering what will be there tomorrow morning! You’re my inspiration…you go girl!

  17. Popups. Faster loading for the main page that way …

  18. The embedded images are not a problem for me, I am on high speed. But there are many who are not on high speed, so images take a long time to load. A mixture of embedded images and pop-ups is the solution to this problem. You know those pictures you really want people to see? Go ahead and post ’em! ๐Ÿ™‚ Otherwise popups are wonderful fun too ๐Ÿ™‚
