Okay, the old sweater whose photo I posted yesterday? I erroneously attributed the design to Meg Swansen.
Judy just sent me the following comment:
I found the pattern! Knitter’s 32, fall 93. It is by Jean Frost, though. Wendy, I like your colors much better. And of course keep posting older works!
And I could have sworn it was Meg Swansen and I used the colors called for in the pattern. That’s it. No longer will I rely on my failing memory for anything.
Thanks so much for finding the info, Judy!
I agree, I WANT this pattern!!! Anybody have suggestions for a legitimate way to get it? (I’m not personally averse to illegitimate ways, but I wouldn’t want to go to that as a first resort! ;->)
Hi,Caroline! Issue 37 is still available from Knitters magazine. Go to the Back Issues section of their website.
I’m sorry, Caroline. I read the 32 as 37. Must be eye-strain and wishful thinking.
Judy said it’s in Knitters 32, not 37 — and 32 is not available for sale on their website. 🙁
Hey, I’d like to get it too. Love the sweater. Maybe we could contact the designer?
Hey, another question. What’s the story on Jamieson & Smith yarn as compared to Jamieson yarn? I think I spelled those correctly. Two different companies?
Paula – Jamieson and Jamieson&Smith are two different companies making shetland yarn. For me, the most important difference is that I can mail-order over the internet from J&S, for about $1.20 a hank plus shipping that never seems exorbitant, whereas Jamieson I have to get from a yarn shop at about $4 a hank. (My apologies to any YS owners who read this, but sometimes I have to look out for my bottom line!) I ordered yarn this summer from J&S to kit up for two sweaters and spent about $85 including shipping – it would have been almost $200 of yarn if I”d bought Jamieson. Just my 2cents…
