Clean Bill of Health

For Izzy!

She behaved like a little lady, not a whimper out of her during her ordeal at the vet’s office. She did have a pissed-off look on her face the whole time though. Not that I can blame her, considering that she was poked, prodded, and stuck with needles.

She forgave me very quickly for this whole incident. Leftover turkey has a way of erasing any bad feelings.

So . . .

Let’s look at an old sweater!

Peer Gynt Sweater

This is a Peer Gynt design, knitted in Peer Gynt sportweight wool. My aunt gave me the pattern and wool for Christmas seven or eight years ago.

I did some knitting on Fulmar last night, but kept falling asleep.

It was way cold yesterday! I wore Jubileum to work and was very glad of it. Today I’m wearing Lake Placid.

The Weather Wankers are predicting snow for tonight. And a fair amount of it. Oh please, oh please, let the government be closed tomorrow. I’ve got lots of stuff I could be doing at home, like wrapping Christmas gifts.

Unwrapped Gifts!

  1. Good morning Wendy. I am relieved that you actually wear your sweaters to work sometimes! Do you ever wear your cowboy boots to work?

  2. If it’s cold enough (and it is today!) I wear my sweaters. I always wear my cowboy boots. Today: grey lizard Justins. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Hi Wendy, guess what I wear today? Lake Placid!
Greetings from a “waiting-for-some-snow” Germany, Ursula

  4. Hi Ursula — great minds think alike, no? ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Glad Izzy got a clean bill of health!

  6. Caroline F says:

I’m wearing Valtos. Isn’t this fun, sort of a fashion show with our eyes closed!

  7. This IS fun! I bet there’s a lot of handknits being worn today. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. You were reading my mind today! I was going to ask you what you were wearing to honor the snow-gods today! I’m wearing a Dale, but it’s a store-bought one. My first handknit one is still in a holding pattern—the SLC 2002. Guess I need to go over to your Nordic group to inspire me to finish it! Glad Izzy is well—Lucky is recovering well from his fight! The Peer Gynt sweater is beautiful—is there much difference knitting with that yarn than Heilo?

  9. The Peer Gynt and the Heilo are pretty close. I think the Peer Gynt wool was a little smoother. Heilo is just the slightest bit hairy.

    Maybe I’ll wear SLC 2002 tomorrow. ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. “weather wankers” – I love it!

  11. My little miniature pinschers love to look at the daily pics of Izzy on the screen. We are very glad that she has gotten a clean bill of health. I gotta question for you…can the brown sheep sport weight be substituted for the Heilo on Dale patterns?

  12. Hi Betsy! My Lake Placid Dale that I’m wearing today is made from Brown Sheep Naturespun Sport. It’s slight finer than Heilo but can be knit to the same gauge. The resulting sweater feels a little lighter — not always a bad thing!

  13. I’m in Montgomery County, and my company *never* closes for weather. They go to all the trouble to have a “weather emergency” hotline, but they’ve never closed. So I’m wishing for less snow to make the drive in a bit easier.

  14. Caroline F says:

Haha Katx, you don’t work for NASD do you? I worked there for years and that was the story. One time they even put on their hotline that they were closed (this was the two-foot blizzard of 1993 or 4) but denied later that they had closed.

  15. Hopefully the government will have the decency to at least offer unscheduled leave tomorrow. If it’s snowy, I’ll take it. My little Honda Civic does not like the hills in my neighborhood when it snows!
