Some Progress

Here, what you’ve all been waiting for:

A progress pic of Frogner!

(You have all been waiting for that, right?)

I’ve not been spending as many hours knitting as usual. I was caught up in Life of Pi and finished it yesterday. As Christopher Walken as the Continental might say:

Wow! Wowie, wow, wow!

That was some book. I’m looking forward to the group discussion.

Check Out This Free Pattern!

My knitbud Geane has posted a free pattern for something extremely cute, clever, and useful. Check out her blog entry from Thursday to read about it and get the pattern. I want one! I think a kit to make this would be a big seller — any vendors out there reading this?

It’s nice to know that I’m not the only Birkie Hussy (as Teresa so very ably put it in my comments yesterday). But now I have another problem.

When we were in the full throes of Birkie Lust in the shoe store in Bobcaygeon, someone (and I believe it was Kathy — I’m blaming her anyway for my current status as a Birkie Hussy) pointed out that Birkies are fabbo to wear to show off your handknit socks.

You know what this means, don’t you?

I have to stop giving away all my handknit socks and keep some for myself.

(Insert greedy laughter here.)

Something Else I’m Lusting After . . .

This design is in the same Dale book as Frogner, and is also made with Daletta. I really really like it. It’s available as both pullover and cardi, and I’m yearning for the pullover. I may find myself placing an order with Bea Ellis soon . . . her yarn of the month (20% off!) for the month of July is Daletta!

And Speaking of Wow! Wowie, wow, wow!

It’s finally Friday. This has been a long and heinous work week.

I think we’ll announce the July contest on Monday. Watch this space and have a good weekend, all!

In closing, let me say this: Peter is a very, very nice guy!

  1. Happy Friday! A week of Wendyknits…it’s made my world a better place! Thanks! I am loving the Frogner, and am sharing your lust for the second Daletta design…and Daletta’s on sale at Bea’s!
Go Wendy! P.S. Ordered my birks yesterday…

  2. I’m so glad you are back!! I second your desire for that very colorful sweater from the same book as Frogner… but…. what book is it from? I must have missed that information. I love the rainbow colors and would love to make it, too, and, as you said, Daletta is on sale this month!

  3. I do not feel guilty about my Birkie-enabling yesterday—I know I’ll cave on that sweater! What’s its name? The colors are perfect for an Autumn stroll! Today’s photo of Lucy deserves to be a framed portrait!

  4. Kristin says:

Yes, yes…inquiring minds want to know! Please tell us which Dale book has the patterns. You’re right, Geane’s pattern is really cute and I think it would make a neat kit.

Could Lucy look more adorable? I LOVE her little tucked in paws in her pose. Awww!

  5. Didja notice that Lucy has her catnip mouse tucked in under her — that’s the bit of blue poking out from under her paw. And note that there are two toy mice behind her too. Oh no, she’s not spoiled.

The Dale pattern is, as I mentioned, in the same book as Frogner. The book number is 109 and is listed in my sidebar under my WIPs.

  6. I made that colorful Daletta sweater last winter, with black background. I really like Daletta, it isn’t as heavy as heilo, etc. I used a corregated ribbing for the bottom edge instead of a folded over hem and, if I remember correctly, I changed the neck.

  7. Okay Wendy, Didya have to tell us daletta was on sale at Bea’s? You were kind enough to send me a sample of Daletta several months back when I asked how it knitted up (wonderfully)so after reading your blog this am I just HAD to place an order with Bea to make Konigsberg and Rosendahl. I also ordered the Frogner book. You are a bad bad influence. You should ask Bea for a commission on my sale because you were definitely the impetus. I don’t comment too often, but I want you to know that I read your blog every day and it is such a pick me up in the middle of my work day. (Does Lucy know just how sexy she is? Have a great weekend!

  8. Hey y’all! Don’t buy up all Bea’s Daletta before I have a chance to place an order! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. Hi Wendy. Every time you mention Frogner, my brain interprets it as “frogger”. So a part of me keeps expecting a hopping frog motif to appear in each new picture you post. I think the colors your using help too.

Frogner is beautiful. I look forwart to the updated pictures. Thank you for sharing!

  10. Wellll – I can only speak for myself – but I’m always looking for progress pics – Many thanks.

Now, I’ve got to check out Birkies!

    Have a great weekend!

  11. Yes you Birkie Hussy, you’ll have to knit lots of new socks for your narrow, delicate feet ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Dainty! Don’t forget dainty! Narrow, dainty, delicate feet! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  13. I see birkie/cowboy boots with hand knitted socks peeking out of the toe ROFL !!!!

  14. Ruth D in Houston says:

    Yeee Haw !!!

  15. oh, I forgot, it’s always fun to buy sock yarn to color match the Birkies and vice versa. Koigu is my favorito!!! More justification and rationaliztion!!
deb in austin where more birks or worn than cowboy boots

  16. Judy H. says:

Wendy, I’m doing that sweater you’re lusting after, only in Baby Ull, not Daletta. (My LYS carries one but not the other, and I get an employee discount, so I tend to stick to what we carry!) I’m doing it as a cardi, with basically the colors in the picture, but since the gauge isn’t quite the same between the two yarns, I’m making a size larger than I would otherwise.

BTW, do you have any advice on very, very long carries? This sweater has some between the flowers on the bottom, and the gauge difference between the stockinette and the stranded is really bugging me!

  17. not to further enable the birkie lust, as I see you need no further enabling w/ the yarn but QVC believe it or not has great prices on birkies. I was at their outlet this week in rehoboth beach and got a pair of black patent birkie sandels for $30.00. you can also look at
