My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

What’s It Gonna Be?

So . . . can anyone guess what my Christmas yarn is destined to become?

That’s a big box o’ Jamiesons shetland jumperweight, if you need a hint!

A Good Holiday Was Had By All

Lucy got a catnip “Boogie Mat.”

Ian got Maximilian. You can see how thrilled he is with it!

No, he’s just making faces — he really does like it. Here’s another photo.

Ian and I discovered that we got each other an identical present:

Not exactly the Gift of the Magi, but we thought it was pretty funny!

And There Was Knitting!

I finished the kitty bed knitted from the Cherry Tree Hill yarn on Christmas Day.

Felted it that night, and it was ready for Lucy on Boxing Day.

Judging from the look in her face, I bet Lucy is thinking, “How many of these stupid beds is Mommy going to make me that I’m going to have to pretend that I like?”

Well, maybe not.

The Cherry Tree Hill bed is now in the living room and the Kureyon bed is in the bedroom.

Also on Boxing Day, Ian and I went to the Auto Show, where Ian met a celebrity!

A lot more knitting went on, but I’ll save that for tomorrow’s blog. I made another bucket hat on Saturday and I found The Perfect Bucket Hat Blocker. I also started a fun bulky knit pullover that I’m making up as I go along.

So come back tomorrow and read all about it!

Have a great Monday everyone! I’m off work for the whole week, so I am likely to have a better Monday than usual.

  1. Is it Abalone ?
and by the way, thanks for the mugs details !

  2. Véronique says:

Hi Wendy ! Could this be Abalone ? The colours look beautiful indeed.

  3. Lucy’s new bed is gorgeous.
Lucky Ian.Maximilian looks great on him.
The colours of the Christmas yarn look divine. All my favourite colours.
    Happy holidays.Enjoy your Monday.

  4. Hmmm…is it Donegal in the purple colorway?

  5. don’t keep us in suspense, is it abalone? i love that sweater and have the yarn stashed… of course you’d have it knit before i’d even have the balls wound 😉

  6. Whatever the new sweater project may be – I’m lovin the colors – will have to pop over to VY and see if I can figure it out. Hope you got some rest over the holiday. Do you have a vacation planned for anytime soon?

  7. If it’s Abalone I’ll be drooling on my keyboard every day, that’s high on my list of things to buy yarn for!

  8. I’m with Rebecca,Veronique and Vanessa! I hope we have an Abalone sighting! Ian looks very nice in Maximillian, but Lucy really sets it off! Lucky wants to know if there’s room for him in Lucy’s new kitty bed? 😉

  9. Ooh, ooh, I know, I know!! 🙂

  10. That’s just like the Boogie mat we have for our kitties. You’ve inspired me to think up a felted kitty bed of my own (I felt from loose wool)…I have my thinking cap on. 🙂 Glad you had a great Christmas!

  11. Yes, yes, pretty yarn. But really! Ian met Spongebob! I’m so excited for you both! I got Spongebob sponges from my sister this year; last year it was Spongebob slippers. She knows me so well.

The new Lucy bed is lovely; but how do you get her to stay in it? Bribery?

  12. Glad to see you’ve kept busy, Wendy! Hopefully you’re still asleep now (it’s only 10 am, after all). I love the eyelash you added to the top of Lucy’s new bed – I bet it helps to keep her interest. Looks like that yarn didn’t felt quite as much as the Big Kureyon, though. I’d love to see your bulky pullover when you get a chance! Enjoy your vacation!!!

  13. Is it the Stillwater cardigan?…

  14. Lucy’s new bed is divine…and she looks lovely in it too. Have fun knitting all week…I look forward to seeing what comes off of those needles!

  15. Maximilian is lovely.

What is the perfect hat blocker? Please don’t keep us in suspense.

  16. After blocking my mom’s felted BOC on a ceramic cachepot (and she too finds it a tad big, but there was nothing else at her house to try before we had to come home), I can’t wait to see what you’ve found! I’m also free of the office this week and contemplating a trip to the District, mainly for art at the NGA, but do tell if there’s a don’t-miss fiber destination. We’ll be using mass transit . . .

  17. Hi, this is my first time here and I was admiring your kitty bed. Did you have a pattern for it or did you make it up yourself? I would love to do one for my kitties. Does Lucy leave the fringe alone? I lost a kitty this year, who got into my yarn, and I wouldn’t want that to happen again.
