My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

Abalone It Is!

Most of you guessed correctly.

Yes, the box o’ Jamiesons will be knitted into Alice Starmore’s Abalone (from Pacific Coast Highway). My mom purchased the yarn from Moondance Wools on my recommendation. I think she and Margie are now old friends. ๐Ÿ™‚

Feather and Fan Scarf

When I wasn’t working on felted kitty beds and felted bucket hats this past week, I got a bit done on my scarf:

The Latest Bucket Hat

Another one from Colinette Skye yarn, this on in colorway “Primavera.” Before felting:

After felting:

And as I mentioned yesterday, I found the perfect hat blocker for my head on Sunday afternoon.

This is a Rubbermaid 4 quart container. Turned upsidedown it’s the perfect size and shape. Ahhhhhh!

Bulky Pullover

Just for grins, I started a pullover knitted from Big Kureyon (color number 7) on size 11 US needles.

I’m knitting the body in the round up to the armholes, then I’ll do the front and back separately. I thought about just knitting a tube and stitching and cutting open steeks, but I decided I wanted the change in the stripe size that I’ll get by changing from “in the round” to back and forth. This will have dropped shoulders and I’ll pick up stitches around the armholes and knit the sleeves down.

  1. you have one nice mama!

  2. I feel like celebrating over your Rubbermaid find! I mean, after all, I do have an emotional investment into the search…I spent three minutes trying to help you think of where you could find just the right item. I must know. Where did you find it? Was it at the store, or in your cupboard, perhaps? Inquiring minds want to know!
And…are you even using a pattern for the Kureyon sweater? Or is this one that you just whip up on your own from years of experience?
I saved the Moondance site to my fav’s…Scotland, huh? Boy, you get around!
Glad to see Lucy is loving her mat. Bella hasn’t gotten any knitted gifts from me lately. She’s going to get a sweater soon though. January and February get a little chilly here in Florida, and she doesn’t have much meat on her bones to keep her warm. Most of her 4 lbs. is hair…and attitude ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy Knitting…and Happy New Year!

  3. Scratch the question on the Big Kureyon…I just found the answer. Silly me.

  4. Many thanks for the Moondance site. Congrats on the rubbermaid find. Love your scarf.

  5. Well, all I have ever been able to do is sit and watch, in ever-increasing wonder, at the speed you kjit. I am awed/amazed at your expertise and speed, and the fact that you can always find projects that keep you occupied.

Since I was young, if I wanted to watch TV, the family rule was that I must be crafting at the time. Recently, I tore my rotator cuff, and am unable to knit. Have you ever suffered through times when you’ve been physically unable to knit/craft, and, if so, how have you kept yourself sane during that period!?

  6. Damn, I wish I knew how to kjit! That sounds like fun! (not being snotty, I really DO want to kjit!)

  7. Long time no write Wendy… I have missed you! I have been running around like a headless chicken this holiday season!!! Glad to be reading blogs again…

Congrats on your rubbermaid find! I think I may have to look into that as I don’t want to “squish” my hair (now that it’s short and more wavy). Saved the Moondance site for, ‘ahem’, future purposes (as in today…). ๐Ÿ˜‰

A Big Kureyon sweater?!? Oooooo… Got a little gift certificate to Hilltop Yarns (LYS) from the hubby…. May have to fondle the BK there!

  8. Beautiful bucket hat – I absolutely love that color! My LYS gift certificate is burning a hole in my pocket and now I know what I’d like to get!

  9. I love the bucket hat, and the bucket hat blocker! Now I have a new project I want to take on, and I know ahead of time how to block it!!! Thanks for the tip and the inspiration!
