How’d It Get To Be Thursday?

Sleep? What’s that?

Yes, gentle readers, my site was down yesterday

As I’ve mentioned in the past, there’s no need to email me to tell me this. My website statistics package includes a monitoring agent that checks my site every fifteen minutes and sends me an email if the site goes down.

For those who care, the problem was with my hosting provider’s DNS name server. Apparently there was nothing wrong with my site, just with its link to the rest of the internet.

Or something like that.

So if you didn’t read yesterday’s entry, you get a two-fer today, ‘nkay?

Yesterday was a very busy day, but I did squeeze in a few minutes of knitting here and there. A bit of progress on Liam:

There was a question the other day if Liam is a man’s sweater. I think of it as a unisex design, suitable for either man or woman. I’m working out the pattern for several sizes so it should work for a variety of people.

Smoochy Pagan Tank

I started knitting my fuschia Hana Silk. I had to. The yarn made me do it.

This photo so does not do this yarn justice.

The bottom is from Smooch and the rest is Pagan, both Rowan patterns. So this is now officially the Smoochy Pagan. Just the ticket for a Bad-Ass Knitter, no?

I was whining to Kristine how I didn’t like the bottom edge of Pagan as it rolls, and she suggested that I do the Smooch edging on it. Isn’t she brilliant?

I went to Knit Happens apres work and started her there. A good time was had by all and I stayed up way past my bedtime. Say hello to some of the gang who were there:

Hi guys! My site’s back up! My site’s back up!

Lucy doesn’t care, as long as her dinner is on time.

Meow, baby.

  1. You might appreciate today’s Ziggy cartoon. I saw it in the paper this morning and couldn’t help thinking of you. Here is a link Very appropriate.

  2. I thought it was my computer until I realized that your site was the only one I couldn’t get access to. (Once in a while I can’t get through to a web site)
I’ll have to check out the Hana Silk in person. Beautiful color!

  3. Smoochy Pagan Tank looks cute. I need to get started on Smooch too. I picked up the yarn for it at Knit Happens a week or so ago. I better get started so I can smooch it up with the rest of them. I just love that pattern. And that liam cable is amazing. Great pattern.

  4. Oh, good. The camera didn’t come out until after I’d left. And I have now placed my official order for my official Bad-Ass Knitter t-shirt. Although after last night, I may have already qualified.

  5. Wendy, you’re such a hoot n’ a half! Have a Bad Ass Knitting Day!

  6. Arg! You’re a bad INFLUENCE knitter, that’s what you are! I’m gonna end up buying that Hanna silk I’ve been coveting, and it’s all your fault! 🙂

Cool idea for the Smooch/Pagan tank. I made the straight-up Pagan a couple of months ago as my test-run project for Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora. In that yarn, the rolling is fine, though.

  7. Liam is a SUPER name…I wish it was more jewish so that I could use it for one of my future children, we have a good friend with that name.
I must say I have always LOVED cables and would love to try knitting them one of these days…and I REALLY, REALLY love that middle cable in Liam, is it complex to knit?

  8. Wendy: I did a variation of Smooch last summer, but held off on finishing it until I was sure that once I dropped some weight it would still fit… I called it my Shapely Smooch, as I combined instructions from Smooch with the White Lies free pattern for a Shapely T… just need to try the thing on and if it still fits, make the sleeves & wear in the fall.. mine is too warm for summer since it’s made with 1 strand of Cotton Fleece (worsted) & 1 strand of Cotton Fine (fingering)…

    If it’s too big, I guess I’ll hold a drawing or something…

  9. I resisted the urge to blog about your site being down, lest people think that I have turned into a blogstalker. I contented myself with working on Luanne. The end is in sight!

  10. I love the hana silk’s lush color, it’s going to be such a sinful tank…

The picture of lucy reminds me so much of my Jamie (rip april 2003), he always had the look of “well it’s about time you got home…how dare you leave me!”

joining the ranks as yet another badass knitter…

  11. Smooch’s bottom is the only thing keeping me from ripping the whole thing back and starting again… it took me hours and hours! I think the edging took longer than the lacework.

On that note I have half of smooch finished, all with twisted purls, and a quarter of smooch finished with wonky lace… so I do need to rip back to just above the picot edge.

  12. I Love Lucy! You’ve got to have the best kitty pix I’ve seen so far!

  13. I love the Bad Ass Knitter movement, and I want to be a BAK, too. Are you going to sell Liam? I certainly hope so, I’d like to make one, too. I don’t know how you make so many things, must be the sleep thing. Just don’t do it?
    Good knitting, I mean:
    Bad Ass Knitting,
