My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

Boxing Day

And a good Christmas was had by all. Although it was warm and rainy, not cold and snowy as it ought to have been, we’ve had a lovely holiday, thank you.

Lucy got some fun new toys.

One of my favorite gifts from The King of All Remote Controls:

That’s a figurine of Wendy, one of the characters in South Park. What’s that in front of her? Why, a puddle of plastic vomit, of course.

And we can’t forget these two guys, of course.

A more practical gift was the large niddy-noddy (thanks, Mom and Dad) — one that makes a 72″ skein. The one I had was a small one, making a 42″ skein.

So I finished spinning this:

The “Plums and Berries” Cotswold roving. I wound it onto my niddy-noddy and ended up with a 240 yard skein.

I have knitted on my Bohus, but I’ve been feeling less than great the past couple of days (head-achy and feverish) so I didn’t make much progress. I did, however, finish the front and start on a sleeve.

Birthday Contest Results

Congrats to Sue N., whose name I drew at random from the correct answers to the question “How old will I be on my next birthday?” Yes, a week from today, I turn 49.

Sue wins this:

Five skeins of Noro Kureyon, in color number 124.

And a special prize for Sherry W., who guessed I would turn 34. Bless you, Sherry. You win this:

Four skeins of light blue Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk.

Sue and Sherry, I’ve emailed both of you.

The last of the birthday contests will be announced either Thursday or Friday of this week. So y’all come back now, you hear?

  1. Hope you are feeling better Wendy.. My only question – is that if you are only turning 49 – you couldn’t have been more than 13 or so during the Summer of Love. How are you so familiar with the 60’s music?

    Feeling ancient at 56..

  2. There’s a whole lot of flu-ish-ness going around the country. I made your catnip mouse pattern for my Nikki’s present and — he is In Love! Thanks for making the pattern(s) available! Glad you had a God Jul.

  3. Wendy, the Plums & Berries is gorgeous! If you keep showing us all this marvellous yarn I am going to have to take up spinning!

Sherry must have had you confused with me – oddly enough, I turn 34 a week from today. ๐Ÿ™‚ You say it’s your birthday…dah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah!

  4. I thought you’d like this: One of my gifts from my family this year, without me ever having mentioned that I read your blog or anything like that, was a pre-order for your book. I just started cracking up.

  5. Hope you feel better today!

  6. I hope that you feel better soon, Wendy. It’s a good thing I didn’t enter the contest — I was pretty sure you were born in 57, but apparently I couldn’t do the math because I was sure that meant you’d be turning 48. I guess this is why I’m an English major.

  7. Lovin’ the Santa SpongeBob and Santa Patrick. The yarn you spun was gorgeous! And once again, I’m jealous of the contest winners — what gorgeous yarn you’re sending them. What lucky girls!

  8. Feel better soon!

  9. I missed a contest? wtf? How did that happen? *grin*

See what having a Love Bug of a kitten does… no time for reading.. well.. until I came back to work today, that is ๐Ÿ™‚ Now i can catch up.

Very generous gifts you’re giving there lady ๐Ÿ™‚

Note to self: Must get LARGE niddy noddy to make great big FAT skeins *grin*

  10. Hope you’re feeling better … the cotswold is lovely!

I also had to say that if my math is correct… we share the same birthday! (although we’re 10 years apart, agewise)… Happy Birthday to us!

  11. Man, I shoulda guessed 27 even though I knew better

  12. Hi. I hope you’re better now. Check this, i think it’s interesting :
They have Rowan and Noro at low prices!

  13. Ok, I have a question for you! What can a gal do with five skeins of Noro Kureyon? I have five of the little beauties in my own stash and can’t decide on anything.

  14. hope you feel better soon!

  15. That “Plums and Berries” looks divine…I have an overwhelming urge to sink my fingers into it.

Love to Lucy, and feel better!

  16. Looks like Lucy got the “Marty Mouse” for Christmas. My cat Leah has one and absolutely loves it.

  17. You’re NOT going to be 49! I’MMMMMM 49. You’re 12. That’s right. 12!!! That’s where I stopped aging in my mind. And everybody else. And it’s a darn good thing that Sponge Bob showed up in some Xmas gear to prove it!!!!! It’s about time!!!

Merry Christmas Wendy. Love Kim and Luna
