My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

How’s that for a whiz-bang exciting blog title? Woo-hoo!

Not surprisingly, I did not get a lot of knitting done this past weekend, but I did a little.

Deirdre’s back is now done past the armhole shaping. I ought to be able to have the back done in the next couple of days.

The edges now sport a half cable — I really like how that looks.

But I confess that I spent a fair amount of time yesterday afternoon working on the second Tiger sock.

I want to get this done asap, because I am pining for socks made from this:

This is one of the skeins of Lisa Souza’s Sock! yarn that I showed you last week, in the Mahogany colorway. Must . . . have . . . socks . . . made . . . from . . . this . . . yarn . . .

I plan on doing a lacy ribbie thing on the leg, so that will be exciting!

My Official WendyKnits Wristwarmers

I said I’d post a better photo of them, and I am a woman of my word. Are they not lovely? Thanks, Johanne!

The yarn is Rowan Wool cotton, which was perfectly comfortable for spring wear!

My Official WendyKnits Banner/Scarf/Table Runner

L-B used the letters from the Debbie Bliss The Baby Knits Book that Amelia used when she made her alphabet blanket a while back. Here’s a fun close-up for you!

New Stop on the Wendy Knits Tour

Please note that on June 3, we’ve added an appearance at Carodan Farm, 12 – 2pm. This is coinciding with their SoXperience 2006 event, which you can read about here. Looks like fun to me!

Lucy agrees.

  1. I am in awe and have absolutely nothing particular to say … except that I love LUCI, I love your blog, and I want so much to be the first comment (lame, huh?)

  2. Sorry about the LucI, LucY, … my kitty spelled her name the other way ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Will the fun and excitement ever stop?…..let’s hope not……thanks for sharing all the pics & goodies…..the banner is wonderful…..what a treasure…..and yes, isn’t the abc blanket by Bliss simply gorgeous?

  4. Finally got my hands on a copy of the book. Very nice! Wish you were coming a little closer to Iowa for a book-signing.

Also, took a peek at your archives today to find a photo of that Pink Floyd sweater. WOW. That’s all I have to say about that!

  5. I just got your book yesterday. I’ll bring it for you to sign if you make it to the Silicon Valley.

  6. Alison says:

    Wendy –

Congrats on the publication of your book. I can’t wait to pick up my copy of it! I love reading your blog and seeing all of your FO’s for inspiration. Thanks for sharing your talent with all of us. (And for sharing Lucy, too!)

    With kind regards,

  7. What great gifts! Do ya think perhaps we’re a bit smitten with you? Maybe just a wee bit? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yep, still in love with Deidre, too.

  8. What a lovely Lucy foot on L-B’s lovely banner! Those wrist warmers look marvellous. I love Rowan yarns. Oh to be in England, with the Rowan yarns! And Deirdre is still looking fabulous. (Oh to be in Ireland…) ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. What pretty prezzies from Johane and L-B! They are very talented. =)

  10. Didn’t get to comment on the last post, but it looks like you had a great kickoff for the book! The banner is just too cool! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Juliette says:

I must comment on just how ravishing Lucy looks tonight.

  12. The armwarmers and banner are gorgeous, and so is Lucy!

  13. All I can say is, WOW! I missed reading yesterday due to major fatigue, but saw all the great pics and wonderful response to your book signing at KH. It is so fun to see the excitement of family and friends — good for you!

  14. For some reason I can’t see the photos of the table runner… neither in this post nor the previous one. Are those photos different for some reason? Or has my browser merely decided to have an unreasonable prejudice to L-B’s table runner?

  15. Wendy,

I just received my very own skein of Opal Tiger in the mail over the weekend, inspired by your posts! I am also 6″ into my very first toe up sock using your tutorial and pattern! However, I have a couple questions concerning toe up:

    1. When I wrapped my stitches, the knit side stitches were looser than the purl side stitches. Is this normal?

    2. When I picked up my double wrapped stitches, I had great difficulty picking up the two wrapped stitches, then the live stitch and knitting/purling the three together. It was very tight, and on the purl side left a little “knot” and a little space between. This wasn’t evident in the knitside stitches. I am making this too complicated, and should I feel a knot and see space between the stitches?

Thank you so much and again, congradulations!

  16. Wendy, I’m having a ball reading your book! I recently ordered a boatload of yarn from however, that’s on the backburner…I’m feeling the need to do a sock safari. I think I’ll be at the LYS this afternoon to knit up some zebras! You keep us inspired!! thanks

  17. I am still loving the wrist warmers. Maybe that can be my next small project… Hmmm.

  18. Lovin’ Dierdre. The color is calming and the cables intrigueing. Such inspiration!

  19. Valerie says:

Thank you so much for signing your book for me on Sat. I was quite happy to finally meet you in person. And guess what? When I returned to my apt. on Mon. afternoon, a second copy of your book was waiting for me! This is the one I will gift for my mom on Mother’s Day, with the postcard you so graciously signed for her. KH will again be my LYS in the next few months, so I look forward to seeing you again soon! Thanks again, Wendy.

P.S. I missed Lucy, although I could understand how napping is far more important than meeting her adoring fans.

  20. Those are FABULOUS wristwarmers! How lucky you are! ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. MamaLana says:

The Eye of the Tiger!! KOARC is one lucky dude! Those socks are bootiful. And as an offspring of real Siberians, I am in awe of the “real” tiger fur. But mostly, I’m in awe of you . . . . and Lucy. I send you both smooches.

  22. I’m so completely angst ridden that there are no Florida books tours ๐Ÿ™

Love the wristers and the banner is more than cool!

Love that cutie half cable too!
