Don’t You Love It?

Don’t you love it when stuff works out better than you could expect?

I got my new washer/dryer delivered and installed today. Yay! My delivery “window” was 10:30am to 12:30pm. They showed up at 9:50am, and at 10:30am I was doing laundry. Yay!

Here’s the new baby:

It’s a Sears Kenmore brand and the washer capacity is at least twice that of my old one. Ahhhhhhh!

So it’s been a good day. To make things perfect, we had a special lunch guest:

This is Knittish Rossana, and as you can see, Lucy loves her.

Rossana brought lots of yummy stuff for lunch and we had a great time. We even did some knitting. Imagine that.

Here’s what I’m working on:

This is the Peapod Baby Sweater (link is a pdf) by Kate Gilbert. I’m making it in the recommended yarn, Debbie Bliss Cotton Cashmere. I’m making mine purple, color #15023.

This is an extremely fun little sweater to knit! I made the sleeves last night:

Thanks for all the nice comments about Keelan!

There was a request or two for a close-up of the buttons. Here you go!

  1. Awww Lucy, do you always make friends so easily?

Keelan did turn out absolutely beautiful. It looks like it’d be a great vest to wear with jeans.

  2. LOVE Keelan and thanks for the close-up of the buttons. Those are FAB!

    Yeah for bigger washer/dryers!!!

  3. Look at that great washer! And I love the baby sweater – purple is one of my favorite colors.

  4. Ooh, perfeck buttons! They make the knit! Well, YOU made the knit, but the buttons finish it off so well!

I love that little set – as soon as one of my girlfriends finds out what color I should knit it in….off I’ll go!

New appliances – the only thing that makes us (temporarily) excited about chores! (So, I’ve never had stackers, and I have to wonder how it works – is there a magnet or a catch that holds the washer door up while you’re loading?)

  5. That peapod is so cute – haven’t seen it in purple before, but I like it.

  6. Wendy, I love those buttons, that yarn. Well, I guess that I simply love that vest!

  7. I am not a wearer of vests but I am liking that vest…

  8. Yeah! for the new washer and dryer!

And yay! for Keelan. I’m with Rebekah; that just perfect to dress up a comfy pair of jeans.

Thanks for the link to the PeaPod sweater, it’s adorable.

  9. We almost bought that same washer and dryer, but then I thought about the fact that I tend to lean into the washer (Why? I’m not short, it’s just a thing I do.) and I could imagine myself knocking my head off the dryer repeatedly. Laundry is annoying enough, I don’t need a concussion to add to the joy. It saves so much space though! *sigh*

I looooove those buttons. So pretty!

  10. Who would have thought that laundry got us excited! Keelan is exceptional!

  11. That baby sweater is beyond cute. I need to find someone who’s having a baby. Or knit one for each of the goats.

  12. That’s a really great combination of yarn and buttons! Where’d you get the buttons?

  13. I love Keelan. And that Pea Pod sweater set is the prettiest thing ever. It will be added to The Endless List of Crap I Will Never Have Time to Knit.

  14. Love the adorable purple peapod! thanks for your continuous info on new things to try (like the dpns and more sock yarn.) .WOW- just amazing the amount of beautiful knitting you accomplish in a week

  15. Claudia W says:

Congrats on the new washer / dryer set. New appliances are really exciting.

Thank you for the link to the “The Peapod Baby Sweater”. How adorable!! I love your color choice. My twin sister is expecting and this will be another item to knit for the baby!

Keelan is beautiful! Wonderfull button choice.

  16. How lame does it make me to admit to being excited that you have the exact same washer/dryer I do?

Keelan is stunning, Wendy! Definitely a winner.

  17. Wow I had no idea that’s how Keelan would look when all together. What a great pattern. It’s beautiful. The peapod sweater is too cute. I love the little circle holes on the bottom rib.

  18. Wendy, I have that exact same model and love my stackable. I live in a house but it’s still great to have that extra room in the laundryroom. You will love it too. Just be careful about lint build up in the lower portion of the dryer door. I dig it out every few days I do laundry. For some reason it collects in the lower rim. It’s easy to reach though. I love the purple baby sweater!

  19. Ah…new w/d…….heaven!……just got a new iron & ironing board……it’s the simple things!… the buttons……and peapod looks so wonderful, I may have to “convince” a friend to let me knit it for her soon to be grandchild!……big thanks for that!……Lucy has many friends…..some she has not yet met!

  20. Love the buttons — thanks for the close-up!

  21. Love the purple of that Debbie Bliss yarn. ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. anonymous says:

I’m sure you’re new washing machine(is that right?), is very nice, but is that thing that looks like an oven on top part of it? ( I might sound stupid :O )
P.S. What are your thoughts on Carey Grant? My family all agree that he was suave and dapper through his entire career.

  23. Hi Wendy
Love your new vest, and the baby set. A while ago you knitted some teddy bears, can you remember where you got the pattern as I want to knit some for charity and have searched but can’t find the pattern..Thanks

  24. Today has got to be one of the funnest Columbus/Leif Erikson Days (Hah hah! Hi, Ian!) I’ve ever had. =) Thank you for making it so, Wendy and Lucy! Mmmm…guac!

  25. This is so random, but we have the exact same washer/dryer pair in my building. I love it. Absolutely love it. It’s really nice and convenient to turn over laundry, and I don’t break my back getting my dry clothed into the bag to bring back upstairs like I did with the POS in my old building.

  26. Hooray for Kenmore! They last a lonnnng time! Lucky baby to have a habdmade by Wendy in her(?) collection. {Lucy}

  27. I second everything that Rabbitch said – except for the crap part, I would have send endless list of stuff etc. ……

  28. Baby sweaters are so scrumptious I end up wishing I could wear one myself. There is a little girl’s farm smock from a Debbie Bliss book that is so delightful I have thought of converting it to my size so that I could have one for myself. Your little sweater is looking quite delicious.

Oh, and the washer/dryer — oooh la la. I was thinking, maybe I could have you up to the farm and you could bring Lucy as well as the washer/dryer for an extended visit?

  29. Your new baby is beautiful ๐Ÿ™‚ Is it going to have a name?

And I’m very impressed with your Keelan – wow!

  30. Congrats on the new washer/dryer. Nothing like good service!

And Keelan is beautiful. The buttons are perfect!

  31. I had a Sears washer and dryer for over 10 years – they are great! Mazel Tov!

Keelan is fantastic – you’ve done it again!

    Love to Lucy!

  32. Keelan looks great. The pewter buttons look perfect against the blue.

  33. Keelan looks wonderful! I like the buttons too! What method do you use for making the button holes?

  34. anne marie in philly says:

SWEET on everything – the new w/d, keelan, lap lucy, the baby sweater.

does life get any better than this?

  35. How lucky Rossana was to have Lucy on her lap! How lucky Lucy is to have such nice friends. Your w/d is beautiful and your knitting is gorgeous and inspirational and mind-blowing. Wendy, you’re a wonder!

  36. That’s it. I’m going over to your house right now and I’m taking my dirty laundry with me. I SERIOUSLY envy your washer/dryer. Man, oh man.

P.S. How are you finding the cotton cashmere? More cotton-y than cashmere-y? The stitches look nice and glossy on my monitor…

  37. keelan looks awesome and so much better on the mannequin then lying down.

lucy looks like she is happy

i love the color purple of the pea pod jacket.

  38. keelan looks awesome and so much better on the mannequin then lying down.

lucy looks like she is happy

i love the color purple of the pea pod jacket.
    and i love the buttons

  39. Keelan is beautiful. I am going to have to add it to my list of things-to-knit-when-the-kids-are-teens-and-I-am-waiting-up-for-them-to-get- home-before-they-break-curfew. The oldest is only 11, so you can imagine how big that pile is going to be in a few years. Youngest just turned 5, so Keelan my get done before she graduates highschool.
I love the Peapod sweater. I’m not having anymore, but my cousins are all just starting to have babies. Guess I need to go hunt down that pattern.
As for the new washer- how well does it felt? I think that will be the real test of your new “toy.” Too bad that won’t let you test felt before buying.

  40. Congrats on the new w/d!! I love Keelan, just gorgeous. Are you planning to release the pattern (free or for sale)? I’d love to give it a whirl.

  41. Love Keelan!! Wendy – about the armholes… that a dropped shoulder design (and if so: how did you avoid the flying shoulders?) or a set-in sleeve w/ a ribbing border worked onto it (my bet is this one, and it’s my fav way to do armholes in vests :)). The design is beautifully proportioned – that always seems the most mysterious part of the process to me.

Off to check out the baby sweater link…..Carol
