Happy Monday!

It’s been a happy Monday for me because I did not go to work today.

As you can see here, Lucy’s stylist came to visit.

Rossana and Lucy 061807

That’s Rossana, who I haven’t seen since last autumn. Can you tell that Lucy adores her?

Rossana’s been busy traveling for a while, and she brought me a very cool gift:

Hello Kitty Bags 061807

Hello Kitty Bags 061807

Hello Kitty zippered bags! These will be perfect to use as sock-in-progress bags, don’t you think?

(I have another new sock-in-progress bag I’ll show you tomorrow.)

I have, however, been doing no sock knitting — I’m waiting til Thursday for the kick-off of the Summer of Socks. Then there will be some serious sock knitting going on.

In the meantime, I’ve been knitting on my silk scarf.

A close-up.

Lace Scarf 061807

Lace Scarf 061807

I’ve been doing some fiddling around with stitch patterns too, as I want to create some new sock designs. So the knitting progress is a bit paltry right now.

Thanks for all the lovely comments on the Handsome Triangle. And thanks also for all the votes at the Blogger’s Choice Awards. I really appreciated that!

Just a quickie post today because I’ve got some back pain and sitting at the computer is not particularly comfy. I’ll be back tomorrow with more to say . . .

“Boy, did I have fun today! I need a nap!”

  1. Your scarf is beautiful–such pretty colors! Also the bags are so cute. I am addicted to project bags, and have many more of them than I have projects.

Lucy clearly needs lots of TLC after her busy day. Being adored is tiring!

  2. I am going to pretend that I didn’t hear that Lucy has her own stylist. I don’t have my own stylist, and might get jealous. Or Suzy might hear about it, and want her own stylist. Better to look the other way.

    The lace scarf looks great!

  3. Wendy- Clearly, getting brushed and pampered can be tiresome for a cat.

    Anything Hello Kitty is great!

  4. Glad to see the Cozy Cushion bed is still beloved! Nothing like it after an exhausting day of adulation.

  5. KnittingAddict says:

She truly is one in a million! I have NEVER seen a cat do that to be groomed! EVER! And the way she poses for photos — too freekin’ cute and gorgeous to boot!

  6. HELLO KITTY?!?! You are my people. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m anxiously waiting for Summer of Socks too…. of course, the difference being I do have one last sock I really ought to finish up before then.

  7. That scarf reminds me of the Pacific ocean in June! What a perfect project! Am looking forward to the “SOS” to begin on the summer solstice! How many pairs can Wendy churn out? I think a contest would be appropriate here! Maybe you could offer a book or pattern giveaway.. whoever comes closest to the correct number or nails it exactly WINS!!!!

Lucy, Lucy you sweet kitty! My katzes would NEVER come out for a stylist so I don’t have to worry about them becoming jealous or sulking & refusing to give me and my husband “cat love”!!!!

Hope U feel better soon. Back pain is a stone b**** !! Luv.m.

  8. What a pretty lace pattern that’s turning out to be! I’m going to do that one for sure . I’m always looking for simple lace patterns because that’s all I can do, but I love to by lace yarn!

  9. I meant buy, not by!

  10. LadyoftheLoom says:

I have just the thing for back pain. Heating pads and chocolate. Dark chocolate brownies!

  11. At first glimpse, I thought Lucy was on an outing. Silly, I know, then I read on to see she was meeting with her Stylist. I’m curious, does Lucy generally like people who visit? My cats always hide.

The colorway of your lace scarf is BEAUTIFUL!

    Hope your back feels better.

  12. Yes, Lucy, it’s very hard work allowing someone else to make you even more beautiful that your usual self! I think you earned that nap…
(Glad you all had a nice visit!)

  13. Oh – Kiki and Coco SOOO miss their groomer, Paul – he left the business after a triple bypass plus complications – we have to find a new guy/gal who will come to the house – I’m having trouble finding someone as calm and serene as he …

    back to my daily knitting,

  14. Oh, that Lucy is a lucky gal! I definitely need a stylist today.

  15. Ooooo, so THAT’S Lucy’s secret!

(Although, I think all true ladies need at least one secret!)

  16. Marianne Y says:

I love your lace scarf! The colorway is gorgeous, as is the scarf, itself!

I am really sorry to hear about your back problem. There is an over the counter product that ends up being like a portable heating pad, that works for something like 8 hours. I believe it is called ThermaCare, or something like that. These are basically disposable heating pads, one use only. I know that Walmart carries it, among other places. I have used them on my bad right shoulder before, & they have helped me a lot. They may be too warm in the hottest part of the summer for you? Or maybe you could put one on for awhile, take it off, so that the adhesive will still work, and that put it back a little while later. I have done that before. (It might not be worth it on the hottest days of summer, but it might be for the other days.) ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. I’m sorry to hear about your back. I’ve found that I need to switch up where i sit for knitting as I have a habit of staying in the same spot for two plus hours. I love the scarf and the shawl. The colours are just gorgeous. I want to thank you for the edits and suggestions you give for patterns. It has helped me get past my ‘need’ to follow the pattern exactly and instead do it the way that suits me.
Thanks for the beautiful pics of Lucy.

  18. I can see that Rossana also loves Lucy! Mutual admiration. I also approve of ThermaCare pads. They’re great! I ordered some from the other day, and they came today: the hottest day of the year! But my shoulder feels better already.

  19. Love the scarf. The colors are so wonderful.

Looks like Lucy had a great day.

What great little bags. They will make nice small project bags and even better that they are Hello Kitty. ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Love the color of that scarf!

    Hope your back feels better!

  21. Theresa in Italy says:

Sorry to hear about your back pain. I know what that’s like. Those disposable heating pads mentioned above sound wonderful—wish we had something like that over here. The last time my back went out, I asked my husband if we had any muscle relaxants and he pointed to the liquor cabinet!

I really like how that scarf is turning out; the cool colors and the lace pattern go together so well. A perfect summer scarf.

    Lucy is gorgeous as always.

And you can NEVER have too many project bags.

  22. I like how that lace stitch both shows up in that variegated yarn and shows off the variegation. I’ll have to keep it in mind for future.

One of my cats is a retired GC show cat and the other is her daughter. Grooming time is very much enjoyed here, too.

  23. Wendy,
I’m so sorry that you are having back pain. You take very good care of yourself. I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Love to Lucy and All the Best,

  24. Must be a back thing going around. I pulled a muscle in my sleep last night! Hope you are doing better today. How’s resisting the sock knitting urge going? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  25. The colors on your scarf are truly beautiful. It has a very pretty sheen.

Lucy looks very happy to see her beautician.

  26. I want my own stylist to make house calls now! Lucy is definitely a lucky kitty-girl to have so many people to worship her.

Although I didn’t get in on the Summer of Socks, I decided I am going to do my own verision of summer of socks and knit up some of my sock yarn stash. I am looking forward to seeing what you create sock-wise.

  27. Deb Kuron says:

The colorway on the scarf is beautiful.

I bought a really nice sock yarn – “Anne” – which was pretty pricey for me and I want to do something nice. It’s pretty dark so it’s not condusive to a lace pattern. I pretty much have my own generic pattern and so I’m looking for a simple texture pattern/stitch. Have any suggestions?
