Things Were Loopy at the Office Today

That’s because Little Loopy came to work with me.

He was a big help with some tasks. He did some photocopying for me.

He was less helpful when it came to boiling water for a hot beverage.

You see, the pot was too heavy for him to lift.

You can tell that blog fodder is thin on the ground when I resort to posting photos of Little Loopy frolicking at the office, can’t you?

In other news (and speaking of Loopy), Sheri placed another big order for my new patterns, so I’m working to get those done and shipped to The Loopy Ewe, so they should be back in stock soon. I’m so flattered that you all like ’em so much. Thank you!

Sock the Second

I am knitting along on my second Summer 2008 sock.

Because I will be spending the evening stuffing patterns in plastic sleeves, I will likely have little progress to report tomorrow.

(Channeling Forrest Gump) And that’s all I have to say about that.

Recipes! Boy Do I Have Recipes!

You guys have been awesome, leaving recipes in the comments for Monday’s post. If you haven’t left a recipe yet for a chance to win a copy of The Splendid Table’s How to Eat Supper, you still have some time to do so. I’ll pick a winner for the book tomorrow afternoon and announce it in tomorrow’s blog.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Today is my Dad’s birthday. The big parental birthday extravaganza is a week from Saturday (for both my dad and my mom, whose birthday is the 30th), so there will be much more celebrating to come. But if you would like to wish my totally awesome Dad a happy birthday in my comments, please feel free to do so. 😀

Lucy Sez:

Happy birthday, Grandpa!

  2. Molly Bee says:

Wendy, I wasn’t allowed to leave a message on the correct entry, so I’m trying this one.
    Molly Bee

Molly Bee’s Favorite Pork Chop Casserole

Put a tin of apple pie filling* in bottom of greased 9 X 13 pan.
Top with six to eight 1′ browned boneless pork chops
Make a box of StoveTop stuffing of your choice and put over all.
Cover and bake at 350° for 35 mins. Uncover and bake 10 minutes more.

*I’ve also used applesauce in place of the apples. Rasberry applesauce rocks!

  3. Happy birthday to Wendy’s dad! Looks like Loopy had a ball at your office.

Here’s an easy way to make pork chops taste like ribs:
Place trimmed chops in baking pan.
Top each chop with raw green pepper and raw onion rings.
Then top with dollops of your favorite barbeque sauce.
Cover with foil and bake at 325 for 45 minutes (adjust according to thickness of chops).
    Uncover last 10-15 minutes.

  46. To Wendy’s Dad:
There is nothing more special than the relationship between a father and daughter. They can laugh together, cry together – a hug from your daddy can cure anything! A daughter turns to her father for advice, and sometimes just a good old-fashioned butt-chewing. I know Wendy feels this way – or she wouldn’t mention the birthday of the first man in her life each year!
Have a very special day and enjoy the warmth and love from your little girl – today and every day.
    Happy Birthday!

  47. Harriet says:

Little Loopy is so cute. My daughter gave me a Little Loopy for Mother’s Day. She is so good to me.

    Happy Birthday Wendy’s father.

Wendy, I am trying to learn to spin. Could you do a blog entry on spinning some time soon?

  48. Hillary says:

Just out of curiosity, have you considered releasing your patterns as downloads? You could avoid the selling out and stuffing plastic sleeve problems that way. I’m lazy, so if I were ever to write a pattern (hah, very unlikely) I’d make it downloadable. And I’m impatient, so I like the instant gratification of downloadable patterns. :o)

  49. Happy Birthday Wendy’s Dad 🙂

  58. Deborah C. says:

To Wendy’s Dad, Hippo Birdie, 2 Ewes! and many more!

My favorite recipe of my mom’s is Barbarian Chicken:

1 whole chicken, cut up into pieces
2 tbsp. honey mustard (or to taste)
2 tbsp. sour cream (or to taste)
seasoned breadcrumbs (Progresso or whatever brand you like)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Wash the chicken and pat dry. Sprinkle a good layer of breadcrumbs onto a jellyroll pan big enough to fit your chicken pieces. Mix together the sour cream and honey mustard and smear onto one side of the chicken. Put the chicken smeared-side down on the pan. Smear the top side with the honey mustard-sour cream mix and sprinkle with more breadcrumbs. Bake for @ an hour, or until done. You can adjust the amount of honey mustard-sour cream to fit how much chicken you want to make, if you only make a split chicken breast you don’t need so much, and the baking time is quicker.
