And That’s the Weekend That Was

My guests this weekend were Dani and Aimee. We had a wonderful time and they are now on their way home.

We ate brownies for breakfast.

We had adult beverages at night.

The weather cooperated.

And I found that when you stay up until 3:00am every night, you get a lot of knitting done. Imagine that.

When I went into the guest room after they left, I discovered the lovely gift they left for me — a handmade oak trivet.

When you stand him up, his middle makes a basket!

Thank you so much, Dani and Aimee — for this beautiful gift and for the gift of your company and friendship!

Lucy sez:

“Hey! Where did my new servants go?”

  1. I love the gift. It’s so cute. I’m glad you had a good weekend

  2. The sweater is beautiful! I can’t believe how much you got done in a weekend. Lucy is, of course, beautiful as usual!

  3. Wow, that is a lot of knitting. You must knit really fast and those adult drinks must have caffeine.
Lucy does look a bit put out that her visitors have left! Or was it because the cute gift wasn’t for her? If only the basket was a bit bigger it could have made for a new nap location.

  4. AAh I know you were in good company as I sit ‘n kit with them here in Charlotte! What FUN!!!

    Giggle @ new servants!

Glad you had a nice weekend with your new friends!! Isn’t it fun to meet IRL and find out they truly are real and just as fun!!

  16. Whoa, that sheep trivet — that’s ingenious! I want a closer look at that.

  17. Where can I get one of those Trivet/baskets? I’ve never seen anything like it, I just love it. Please tell me they make them to sell.

  18. The sweater is really turning out nice. The trivet – well it’s something to be admired and envied. What a wonderfully crafted treasure and I am sure will become a family heirloom. Lucky girl!

  21. Great weekend with friends! Your Daily Sweater is inspiring me to make a new sweater for winter!

And a blanket with those nice cables would be a warm addition too. Thanks for sharing.

  22. Brownies for breakfast are perfect, especially if combined with a scoop of ice cream. Gotta get the dairy, right. I love the lambie trivet. I have seen some similar but not lambies. N

Melissa’s initial book, Cables Untangled, is fabulous and I can’t wait to see the new one. Of course winning a copy from you would only make it that much better.

  24. Gosh i LOVE those basket/trivet things sooooo much. Then again, I have kind of a “thing” for pretty much any “collapsible” type basket with a hanging bottom.

  25. What a great gift and wonderful friends! And oh the knitting! jamming! 🙂

  26. Is the outdoor picture taken in the park on the Potomac river in Old Town Alexandria? It looks familiar, and makes me a little homesick.
