My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

Happy Sunday, y’all! I have no knitting to show you, because I’ve been working on an un-bloggable project for the past few days, and will likely continue to do so for a couple more days. So no knitting pix.

The Random Number Generator stepped up this morning and selected a winner for the Noro book. It chose comment number 32, which was Betzi. Thank you so much to everyone who left a comment!

In other news, WendyKnits has been moved to a new server. You might have noticed some problems and glitches and slowness in the past few weeks. Well, fingers crossed, all that should be behind us. And while she was at it, Daisy upgraded me to the latest version of WordPress (v. 2.7). It’s quite different in appearance from previous versions. I think the developers have done a good job making it bigger and better.

So today, I did this:

All the gifties are wrapped! Woo-hoo!

Surprisingly, Lucy did not help me. She preferred to veg out in front of the tv.

Yesterday I did another henna application on my hair. I wanted a slightly deeper color, so did a full-head application again, and I’m very happy with the results.

When I was in the grocery store this morning, a man said to me “Red hair rules!” and made the “rock on” gesture.

I feel so . . . validated.

  1. Ok, where’s my present!
    Love your haircolor

  2. I wrapped up all my christmas gifts today too, except those that haven’t quite been finished yet. I need to knit like maniac over the next week.

  6. Beautiful hair…

  7. Red hair rules! \m/

  8. I love your hair. I bought a box of henna months ago and haven’t had the gumption to do it yet. I was born with red hair and it all fell out within a couple of months. BooHoo.

  9. cute! I’m liking how deep the hair color is getting!
awww, my lucy (we named her before i found this blog so i feel weird talking about her) she has been loving on the remote lately too.
    You have lovely gift wrap!

  11. Alright! Someone else who likes BLUE stuff at Christmas πŸ™‚ In fact, your dark paper is one of the ones I used last year. Good news about the new server – I actually couldn’t even get to your blog for a couple days and wasn’t sure if it was weather-related or not.

Have fun with your secret project Wendy πŸ™‚

  12. red hair DOES rule.

i also love the new look of wordpress.

  13. Your wrapping skills are envious. I have a large pile of presents in the staging area. For whatever reason it still looks small but that’s only because I am crazy. πŸ˜‰

  15. Oh, you organized people! I only have half my shopping done, the two knitting presents half-knitted and nothing is wrapped.
    Bah, humbug.
    Your hair color looks beautiful.
It is no wonder Lucy was uninterested in your wrapping. Where’s the ribbons? That is the interesting part to a cat, especially those curled up ends that bob so amusingly when batted. Of course, with ribbons on, all the gifts will have to be stored way high out of reach. So I guess ribbon less those gifts will stay. Poor Lucy.

I am investigating the henna….. I LOVE your color

  17. Wendy, I’m so excited about winning the book! *does bannana dance* I never win anything, so this is like a early Christmas present to me! Thanks so much! Squeeeeeeee!

Oh, and be thankful that Lucy didn’t “help”. My kitty loves to “help” wrap presents, but lets just say its waaayyyy more trouble than its worth! He likes to lay on the paper, bat at the bows, and chew on the ribbon!

    The hair is fab!

  18. Don’t you just love those comments that make your day?

No wrapped presents in this house yet. I just finished my cookies today, cooked a turkey and just sat down.

Will be waiting on pins & needles to see the latest knitting project.

    LOVE the hair!
It’s making me think of trying a touch of henna,as I have natural red highlights.

  21. So Lucy was QOARC today? Izzy always helps me wrap which can be problematic as you probably know.

  22. pretty paper. lol at the red hair rules comment! i need to do a “touch up” myself int he morning! SO happy, it finally snowed last night and is still slightly flaking outside…so stalker kitty is hiding inside! (after her adventure outside last night)

  24. That person was right; red hair does rule! I have this knitting group friend who has gorgeous red, curly hair but I’ve never told her because I’m not sure how she’ll take it (as in, is M.E. weird, gay, serious, or joking). I just don’t know. So I just glance at her every once in a while.

I prefer burgundy hair for myself. I used to work in a beauty salon, and there are people in this world who violently despise any shade of blond that has a tinge of red in it, burgundy hair (“It’s PURPLE!!!!”), or anything approaching the two…so I tend to keep pretty quiet about hair color in public.

    I love the

  27. Your hair looks FANTASTIC! I’m glad you’re loving Henna for Hair – I’m guessing you got some of Catherine’s BAQ henna from the site? That’s the one I use and I LOVE it! In fact…I’m looking a little stripey right now, lol. I’m gonna do my roots this week. Gotta look my best for Santa!

And I have always LOVED blue wrapping paper! I have trouble finding it but I think it looks so beautiful under a tree. I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season.

  28. Theresa in Italy says:

Your hair looks fabulous! And I’m just a wee bit envious that you’ve got all the wrapping done….

  29. Gorgeous!! BUT I would not have given you the rock on gesture. You know the one I would give.

  30. Wendy- you should have said “don’t hate me because I’m beautiful”-
it does look amazing, you vixen!

  31. Growing up, I always wanted to be a red-head. But no–I have that dark brown hair that’s almost impossible to dye another color without killing it. My solution? Grow up and marry into a family of red-heads–FIL, MIL, BIL, and both SILs. And one of the SILs has the good sense to like hand knit socks for Christmas.

  32. Your hair looks great! Good job! Blogless Mary Lou

  33. Heh…I wish I could get the kitties to stop helping me with the present wrapping. πŸ™‚

  34. Love your hair color. Very natural.

  35. You’re not missing anything by not having Lucy help you wrap. I’ve had collies since 1973 and every one of them insisted on helping me wrap packages. I like to use shiny foil paper and after I’d get everything wrapped I’d have to wipe off all the nose marks. There wasn’t much I could do with the collie hair stuck in the tape, though.

The current puppy discovered the joy of stealing pre-made bows and dashing off to chew on them. Before he got distracted by the bows, he was trying to pull all the ribbon off the spools. He finished the wrapping session in a crate, where he could watch but not help. Once he couldn’t help, he decided to take a nap.

I just love your hair. I have dark brown hair with gray and white (about 75% gray on top), so I don’t think henna is for me. I sure wish it were, after seeing your beautiful results.

  37. Rock on gesture. Hmmm. I’m trying to visualize that.

  38. Red hair definitely rules!

I’m a little behind on my holiday knitting, but I figure if they don’t get warm winter woolies at the end of December it won’t hurt for the recipients to get them in January or February. It’s still cold after all.
