My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

One Down, One To Go

Judging from the comments about the cords on the Kollage square circulars, it’s not just me who has problems with them. But did you see this comment from Nancy?

I talked to the Kollage people at Stitches South and they told me they are coming out with a firm cable – probably by July. He implied that many people like the soft cable so they will be offering two different cables. I haven’t heard of anyone who liked the soft cable below a size 7 or 8 so I have a feeling if the firm cable actually works it will end up being the only one.

So, there is hope. πŸ™‚

Meanwhile . . .

I have finished my first Rivulets sock and have just barely embarked on the second one.

This was going to be my main travel knitting when I head out to the S.W.A.K. Knit Out this weekend, but it looks like I’ll have a good part of the second sock done by the time I board a plane for Oklahoma Friday morning. So I must winkle together something else to bring in case I finish the second sock!

This has nothing to do with anything, but I glanced out my office window and saw this shortly before leaving today:

I’ve no idea what that was about. But it went on for about 10 minutes. That’s a lot of cyclists!

And Lucy just wonders when dinner will be served.

  1. law enforcement memorial week – you got to see all those who have biked from PDs around the country

  2. It’s Police week or national police week or something… perhaps that’s what was going on?

  4. Ah! I was going to say it’s Biking to Work Week here, maybe there as well? But that wouldn’t explain why everyone is in the same shirt! πŸ™‚

  6. Yup, National Police Week Memorial Ride:

  7. Lori Beard says:

Well, that would explain the busloads of police that were coming into Annapolis last night…with trailers full of bikes. They must have biked from here to there.

(And on a side note, I bought your book, and used it to cast on a toe-up for the first time…for one of your free patterns. I’m just weird.)

  8. you do knit those socks pretty fast. I liked your sheep rug too and the kitty one

  9. I’m almost certain the Police Unity Tour – I work at a newspaper in Virginia and just edited a story about the tour heading to D.C.! The riders raise money for a police memorial, and they ride to honor slain officers.

  10. I actually like the flexible cable of the Kollage needles . I use the size 1 and love it. I found mine at a shop in Austin Texas and plan to get more when I am there next weekend for my daughter’s college graduation.

  11. Roseanne says:

Riders from all over are biking to Washington to the memorial for officers who have fallen in the line of duty. A group from Charlotte left Sunday to ride to DC. Smooches to Lucy!

  12. Michele In Maine says:

What cracks me up is I’ll feed my cats first thing in the morning, and they still line up for treats when I leave for work. I guess they’re beefing up for a day of power napping.

  13. Patricia says:

I love the new pattern! And ait a minute what about the other yarny news? How about a hint?

P.S. I enjoyed your class at the Fling!

  14. Loving those Rivulets!

  16. I love the new socks, but mostly I love the vast varieties of sock yarns you use to showcase your sock patterns. It is great to see all of the varieties of sock yarns worked up in the wild as it were before going to the Loopy Ewe to buy them (all).

  17. This is National Police Week and officers from all over the country are heading to DC for a candlelight vigil at the National Law Enforcement Memorial to honor their fellow fallen officers. Our Charlotte, NC, contingent left on bikes, expecting it to be a 4 day ride each way…..

Thanks for your blog….can’t wait to meet you in Charlotte next month!

  18. Allyson says:

My friend’s son does that ride every year.

  19. I got to see them go by the Lincoln Memorial, as we were on vacation (yay to vacations!). Two of the officers from our campus police dept were riding in it, so it was very cool to see.

I have to tell you, several times while we were in the DC/VA area, I thought “I bet Wendy is somewhere in one of these buildings.” πŸ™‚
