My current work in progress:

Tawney Sweater,byΒ Jenni Barrett, knit from MadelineTosh Tosh Sock,Β using 3.25mm and 3.5mm needles.

In Case You Wondered

I’m not just collecting knitting bags. I do still knit. I just haven’t done much lately.

I spent 2 days not knitting courtesy of whatever viral crud hit me last weekend but I am feeling almost human again, so the knitting has resumed.

I did finish the first modified Peace Sock.

I’m working on the second one right now. What I’m not working on is the circular shawl I started last week in the Tilli Tomas Elsie yarn.Β  You know, the yarn that leaches blue dye everywhere?

I found myself avoiding working on it because the leaching of dye is so bad. I’ve come to the realization that I am not willing to knit with this yarn as it is. The yarn needs to be washed with synthrapol or something similar before it is fit to be used.

And I know myself well enough to know that I will never be bothered to do this. So who wants my dye-leaching yarn?

Ten skeins of Tilli Tomas Elsie in the “Jade” colorway. Eight of the skeins are in original condition, one is wound into a ball, and one is partially knit into a lace pattern. As a bonus you get to rip that part out yourself. πŸ˜‰

If you’d like to be entered in a drawing to receive this yarn, leave a comment to this blog entry. Don’t send me an email, don’t use the contact me link, just leave a comment. You need to click on the link at the end of this blog post that reads “x responses” to do so.

Leave said comment by 4:00pm Eastern Time on Thursday July 2. At that time I will awaken the mighty Random Number Generator and ask it to pick a winner.

  37. Everything should be blue.

  38. I should looooove to take over your poor unwanted blue yarn! Thank you for offering!

  45. Blue is my favorite color and I would even treat the yarn to prevent the blue hand syndrome. I don’t actually mind the blue hands – it’s the blue knitting needles and clothing that are the problem.

  46. in Lexington KY (where I live), the motto of die-hard UK fans is “I bleed Blue”…so I’m throwing my hat in the ring to “bleed blue!”. πŸ™‚ <3 your blog Wendy (and love to Lucy too!)

  47. I will gladly take the dye leaching yarn off of your hands.

  48. So glad you are feeling better. πŸ™‚ I have synthropol and would love to knit with your blue yarn. I have just the peacock shawl pattern to use it. Thanks for the chance to win.

  49. yarnbeans (Lori) says:

Count me in for the dye-leaching yarn! I’m tempted to pick up some of that Alchemy Juniper, it’s lovely!

  50. I would love to take that “dye-leaching” yarn off your hands so that Lucy won’t have to worry about her fur (or you) turning blue!

  51. I always wanted to be a Smurf.

  52. I’ll take it!!!!

I agree–it would be (almost) too much trouble for me to wash it, too. So much yarn, so little time..Wendy P

  59. Hey, I’m willing to wash before knitting!

  60. I’d love to try it!

  61. I’d love to have it! Did you ask the company if this happens alot with their yarns??

  62. Swish, swish, wash, wash, dry. πŸ™‚

  63. byLorili says:

    hmmm… blue fingers and all…

  64. I agree; life is too short to knit with yarn you’re not enjoying. I think that’s why I have so many half finished socks. Why am I forcing myself to finish them? Because it’s “only” a sock? Not good enough. Maybe it’s time I had a little bonfire. πŸ™‚ Oh, and please, do NOT enter me in the drawing for the yarn – LOL!

  65. I happen to love Smurfs!

  66. I would love to have it, please!
    .-= Smellyann´s last blog ..Giddy =-.

  67. this happened to me with CEY Montera yarn, the green got all over my hands and needles. The shop where I bought it was unsympathetic and said no one had ever experienced that before. I called the company and they said it was a bad dyelot, they asked me to send one skein back so they could analyze it and sent me 12 new skeins in a different non leaching shade of my choice. I would think Tilli would want to know about the problem, and maybe she’d do the same for you, Wendy.

  68. Oh, hell, I’m a glutton for punishment. πŸ˜‰
    .-= Imbrium´s last blog ..Overwhelming =-.

  69. Too bad about the yarn! You’ll find something better, you’ve flashed your stash before and I know that there has to be a real gem in there some where!

  70. Wendy, I am a sucker for lace yarn, leacher or not. Please let me have a chance at it. Thanks!

  71. I never have the lucky number, but what the hell put me in the drawing too.

  72. I’d happily give the lovely yarn a new home.

I’ve got a LOT of synthrapol. I’d be happy to see how many cycles it takes to get that yarn to stop croc’ing. πŸ™‚

  74. Okay, I’m game to try – Enter my name / number in that random number generator!

  75. I would love the yarn–loose dye and all. I would make something very pretty out of it.

  77. Boy! i would love to provide an excellent adoptive home for your pretty blue yarn.

  78. Glad you are feeling better. I would love to take the yarn off your hands and into mine!!

  79. I’d love to win your yarn, and I even have Synthropol to wash it in!

  80. I actually prefer having blue/green fingers while I knit – my favorite blue-finger sweater was a wonderful, now bedraggled, fisherman’s sweater (Filey, maybe?) from Rowan Denim ;o)

  81. i’ll take it off your hands. Willing to wash yarns to make hands not turn blue. As we know from Firefly, blue hands = bad guys.

  82. I’ll take it off your hands – I’m using Elann’s Den-m-nit yarn for a project, so blue hands are frequent around here. Doesn’t bother me a bit.

  83. I’d be up for using that leachy yarn! I just got a job today at a yarn company. It’d be a great present to myself!

  84. I’ve got a ton of synthrapol in my studio – I’d gladly make the supreme sacrifice πŸ˜‰

  85. I’d like to sacrifice my fingers to blue dye! Maybe I’ll be lucky and the random number generator will give me that opportunity.

  86. I’d be happy to take it off your hands. Thanks!

  87. Elsie Hughes says:

Add me to the list too !

  88. Rebecca Yarber says:

I would love to take this yarn off of your hands! Thanks so much for offering it! …and even if Lucy had a bit of a blue smudge she would still look gorgeous.

  89. Lynne E. says:

I’d love to have your dye-leaching yarn. I’ve been wondering about Tilli Tomas yarns for a long time!

  90. Aah bliss 350+ blog posts to catch up on! Of course yours is on my top 3 to read first. Missed your posts, your socks and Lucy.

Blue dye-leaching yarn? Hmm, why not? I could probably use the dye that leached to dye a bare skein.

  91. glad to hear your feeling better, the crud is lingering in my chest something wicked!

Hey, i’ll take your leaching colored yarn! Right now with putting up strawberries, raspberries, mango and pickled beets….blue would just make my fingers look festive and very 4th!

  92. I would take it, I think that I could maybe get it to behave. Thanks for the offer. πŸ™‚

  93. I’ll give it a good home πŸ™‚

  94. very sorry you aren’t feeling well. I would love this yarn so I can finish the sweater I had planned for it. Maybe it will behave better than the cashmere I spun that has neps, 1/2″ fiber length and a tangled mess.

  95. Hey, I’ve got Synthrapol! I could SO TOTALLY wash that blue out…but I know what you mean. I HATE it when I start knitting and then find the dye is coming off on my hands. Although I also have Reduran, so, you know…no worries…I’d take good care of it, either way. πŸ™‚

  96. Ooohhh, I could have blue denice needle tips so that my pink ones won’t be lonely. (The red Polar Knit I made DH’s Sailing Hat with stained them pink.)
Seriously, I would love this yarn. I adore anything Tilli Tomas.

  97. Erin M. says:

I would happily wash the pretty blue yarn and give it a new home!

  98. Nancy S says:

Hi Wendy, I had a similar experience about 20 yrs ago with some indigo dyed cotton and guess what – I’d love an opportunity to get some Tilli Tomas yarn!

  99. I’d love a chance to wash this up!

  100. I have had this experience with other yarns…and I would love to wash your up.
