You Mean This Isn’t a Cupholder?

Spotted in my bathroom:

The fact that I am using the toothbrush thingie in my bathroom as a stand for my soda is a sign that today is Clear Out Day. I’ve been tidying up in one of the bathrooms, and I’ve got to have my beverage, right? I usually try to do some mucking out over Labor Day weekend. I get rid of clothes that have been marinating in my closet, never to be worn again, and try to generally reorganize things. Lookie here:

A new shoe organizer/cubby! Stuff like this makes me happy.

Clou Winners

The Random Number Generator has done its job and picked four commenters to win one skein each of Gedifra Clou. Those four are: Rose-Marie, Elsie, Sheryl, and Jan E.

I have emailed each of you. And a big thank you to everyone who left a comment.

In answer to an oft-asked question in the comments, the scrubbie does a nice job of being a scrubbie. It is softer than a nylon net scrubbie, but it certainly works. If you find the nylon net ones too harsh, you’ll like this.

Okay, back to the general muck-out/clean-up. But before I go, photos of my shetland shawl for Johanne, who would likely stop speaking to me if I neglected to post a picture or two.

And a close-up:

And a pic of what Lucy is doing this long weekend:

  1. Sounds like a good kind of Labor Day Weekend project–I might need to get into some of that myself! My boys are emulating Lucy; when last seen, there were two fur puddles on my bed!

  2. haha, cup holder indeed.
.-= Aunt Kathy´s last blog ..Saturday- So Thirty Years Later… =-.

  3. I find it a little spooky that your favorite soda (pop as we say in Nebraska) is the same as mine – Diet Coke with Lime. While visiting Virginia last year we couldn’t find it any place – maybe it has just hadn’t reached that area or we were looking in the wrong places.

I guess I have been reading your BLOG since the beginning because your tastes in pets, shampoo, totes and of course knitting so mirrors my own that it just makes me think that I can’t be too far off the trail if Wendy likes it too!

  4. I am with Lucy this weekend!! LOL

  5. I think I would like the shoe cubby thing more if it were a yarn cubby thing! LO!
.-= Milly´s last blog ..Another Sock Knitter! =-.

  6. Labor Day weekend always seems like a good time to, well, labor around the house and get stuff done. 2 plumbing jobs of 3 are done, and I’m off to tackle the closet!
.-= Kathy in San Jose´s last blog ..Brownies! =-.

  7. I carry my beverage with me, too, when I am doing housework (which rarely happens). And my beverage of choice is often Diet Coke with Lime. I found it in 12-packs of cans a couple weeks ago — totally made my day!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  10. This one is going a little slower because………. just noticing. I have a rectangular shawl that is in the ‘i am bored with it’ pile.

  12. I vote for what Lucy is doing this weekend!

  13. Wow. My Bertie Woo (Ginger neutered boy cat) is doing EXACTLY THE SAME THING AS LUCY! (NB …unless I give him a Q-tip. He ignores catnip mice but goes nutz over the ear things >.<

  14. Hi Wendy,

Here’s something I do each and every monday, so to keep everything “under control”.. I go through the house and throw out 20 items. It has become a Monday routine and I must say it works great. But… this does not apply to my knitting or my stash! Also….. if I buy 2 items, then I throw out 2 equal items when I get home. Example: buy 2 shirts, get rid of 2 shirts. I had my doubts about this system when I first heard of it, but it has worked nicely. Our house is for sale and we have already done a tremendous clean out. This just helps me keep it that way.

  15. wow, the shawl is simply gorgeous!

  16. I wish I could get my brain to wrap around lace knitting, your so creative and if I dont have a pattern to go by, I am lost!

  17. Linda in NC says:

The shawl is lovely; I love that you are knitting on the edging as you go. Sure beats trying to figure out if you have enough yarn left from the center to knit the entire border afterwards.

  18. Dear Splendid Shetland Shawl,

Meet me at midnight behind the old oak. Only pack necessities, we need to travel light. I´ve fixed you a false passport so you can come and live with me in Sweden.

P.S. Don´t say a word about this to Wendy
