My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

Parade of WIPs

I currently have an almost-unheard-of-for-me three knitting projects in progress. Let’s review, shall we?

This is my traveling sock which is growing very slowly. (And I don’t seem able to take a non-blurry photo of it.) I started it on my trip to Virginia Beach last month and then stopped working on it when I got back home. It did come with me to Florida last weekend and I managed a few inches of knitting in-between doing classes, etc. And I haven’t touched it since I got back. But it will accompany me to Oklahoma City next weekend (October 22 – 25) so I may actually finish it. Then I need to cast on for the second sock.

Psst! — info on my visit to Oklahoma City is here.

Next up, is the lace cowl/wimple:

This is my current commuter knitting and as you can see, it is almost done. I’m in the boring part of it, so I’m afraid it grows slowly as I am sometimes tempted to sleep on the train instead of knitting mindless stockinette in the round. But I should be able to suck it up and finish it in the next day or so.

And this is my at-home project:

My Two-Thirds Shawl. It stayed home last weekend so I’ve not made a whole lot of progress. I picked it up again yesterday and did some work on it, but I’m at the point where the rows are getting mighty long, so it doesn’t look like too much progress each day.

Yarn and needles used for each project are listed in the “Work in Progress” box at the top of the page. ๐Ÿ™‚

Lucy sez:

“May I have some more of that totally awesome fresh catnip, please?”

  1. Totally awesome projects…love the two thirds shawl…

  2. The cowl/wimple is beautiful – and oh so tempting!

  3. what a beautiful purple color! Is it blue or purple? Which does it have more of?

  4. Celestine Getty says:

Your 2/3rd shawl looks yummy and the color way is my cup of tea. I sure hope you share this pattern with us. Your patterns seem to be a good size for me. Some shawl patterns are just too small for me.

  5. I hope to see the cowl pattern. That one is my favorite.

  6. Only three WIPs? Somehow I have managed to hit eight! I think someone casts things on my needles while I am sleeping or at work. What other explanation could there be?

  7. The sock design is so perfect for the stripe that’s happening in the yarn. I love the soft pink cowl — very pretty!

  8. Wow, the 2/3rd shawl is really pretty – finish it, quick! I want to see it at SWAK =)

  9. I really like the cowl…the color is gorgeous

  10. That wimple is wimplelicious!

  11. The more I look at that sock, the more that pooling at the instep looks like a MOUTH. It makes me laugh.
.-= CarolineF´s last blog ..Something is done =-.

  12. I love the cowl! Are you going to offer/sell the pattern?

  13. Great variety and all beautiful.

  14. Love that shawl! I just love making shawls, and I love the idea of shawls, but I haven’t quite figured out how to actually wear them. Maybe I just need to make one I really love. I like how you think of your projects — commuter knitting, at home knitting, etc. I’ve also got three projects on the needles and am trying to work on each one a little bit every day but haven’t settled into a routine for when to work on each so I’m hoping I don’t just languish in WIP land.

  15. LOVE that wimple/cowl! Thanks for sharing the pictures and info.

  16. So gorgeous! I think the smallest needle size any of my WIPs are on are size 6 and I was thinking about how small those are for me. Those 2s sound impossibly tiny (though I know needles go even smaller — not in my house, at least not yet!)

As always, I just want to pick Lucy up and snuggle her ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Dr. Jackie says:

I love the wimple mannequin…with the ends of the circulars growing out of the top of her head like little horns! ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. Happily knitting along with the “Order to Chaos” Shawl!
