Disjointed Thoughts

Okay, first I signed Miss Lucy up for Catbook. Sadly, I could not figure out how the heck you respond to friend/family request for her.  The notification for each request says you respond on the catbook home page but I’ll be darned if I can find any notifications there.

So she is now on Facebook.

Lucy sez:

“Please friend me on Facebook?”

Ear Worm

Ever since I posted to my blog yesterday I’ve had du-wop music running through my head. I may need to form a 1960s-style girl group called the Shawlettes.

I refuse, however, to tease my hair into a 1960s beehive. One needs to know where to draw the line.

Speaking of Shawlettes

I’ve started working on the pattern for the shawlette I am currently creating. I’m putting in lotsa detail so it will be lace-newbie friendly.

Speaking of the shawlette I am currently created, I think I did three rows last night, so just look at yesterday’s photo and squint, okay?

On a Serious Note

Here are links to some relief agencies collecting donations to help with the earthquake disaster effort in Haiti:

  1. Convoy of Hope: is another agency that’s already in Haiti – an excellent relief organization.

  2. I’m hearing the DJ now: “The Shawlettes” , those girls with the pointy sticks are coming out with yet another record, folks. This one is titled “It’s My Woolmeise and I’ll Knit if I Want To” with “Johnny Mohair” on the flip side. How much you want to bet this one will go gold too??

And yes, folks, Lucy is on the cover!
.-= Leslie´s last blog ..Smart or Stupid? =-.

  3. I just noticed that Lucy was a bit cross eyed, I love it!!! Adds so much character to her face :O)

  4. You have got to be the coolest kitty-mama ever! How awesome is that? A Facebook page. Sahweet!

And thanks for the links to the relief groups. It’s much appreciated.

  5. I tried to figure out this morning how Debit could friend Lucy and I couldn’t figure it out either.

  6. Leslies comment made me LOL

  7. Love it!!! Ray Charles on the piano and The Shawlettes singing the chorus in red sequined dresses….lol….I’m a little older than you….

  8. Thanks for posting the relief links, I’ll pass them along as well ~ anything to help out~

    Lucy is such a sweetie!
.-= Sandra´s last blog ..ManyhorsesMane says DD18.999 just baked some french fries…drivin me nuts =-.

  9. I can’t figure out Catbook either. But, I did send Lucy a friend request. Sheez, I just remember how much Tommy loved her. . . .

  10. My little Muffin tried to figure out how to friend Lucy to no avail. She was excited to be able to chat with Lucy and share Ragdoll tails.

  11. miss lucy,, i got ya girl on FB!

i really think you should do a small book of shawlette patterns, something small enough to fit into a WIP bag, using about 450 yards per shawlette, maybe 8-10 designs…. am i just dreaming?? smile

Had to laugh at the beehive bit. Hubbys best friend used to work at a joke shop just outside of seattle (and he himself was a stand up improv comedian), whenever he would come to hang in hawaii he would fill his suitcase with odd gifts (TSA would love him today!) from sumo man fan’s, monkey poo cigarettes, pink lawn flamingos… he once brought 3 wigs, all beehive in blue and lemon yellow, picture marge simpson!

  12. “In the Shawl of the Night,” “Heart and Shawl,” “Shawl! In the Name of Love,” “Shawl Man,” “Shawl We Dance,” “I Only Have Shawls for You.”

Check out the retro photo I posted on Facebook today . . . talk about a beehive! Actually, it was 1968 and barrel curls had replaced the beehive.

  13. myra Harrell Fleming says:

I so enjoy your sense of humor, Wendy…thank you. If you are not working on a shawl book, you will be. It is inevitable, they are magnificent!.

  14. I would like to remind people that Wendy denied writing a sock book as well…just sayin’

  15. It got up to 39 here today, and I can’t stop humming “We’re having a heat wave…. a tropical heat wave….” I’d prefer du-wop!

And I just friended Lucy. We already have a friend in common – Charlene Butterbean!

  16. Also, Mercy Corps.
    .-= CarolineF´s last blog ..Cambridge Cables =-.

  17. Ditto on the shawlette book. As much as I think I’d like to, I’m just not getting into knitting socks.

Another great relief organization, already in country in Haiti:

  18. Ditto on the shawlette book. As much as I think I’d like to be, I’m not a sock knitter.

Another great relief organization, already on the ground in Haiti – Oxfam America

  19. I’m glad that I don’t listen to as much jazz as I used to, or that du wop would be morphing into Ella Fitzgerald and a huge amount of scat singing. It’s hard to concentrate when your brain is trying to make music along with the stars!
.-= Seanna Lea´s last blog ..knit, knit, knit =-.

  20. I LOVE Lucy’s facebook photo. I hope she friends me.

    Donated yesterday. This is unimaginable.

  21. Thank you for the links to the sites of organizations helping with the relief efforts in Haiti. It is so good to see so many knitters involved.

  22. Pam from Kansas says:

Thanks for posting the links for donations. I just donated to Doctors without Borders.

  23. Personally, I like the hair helmet a la Marlo Thomas in “That Girl”.

Re: Charities, Mercy Corps is sending 100% of donations that donors mark for Haiti directly to Haiti relief. See them at or or other sister websites.

I know many of the orgs listed above and they do wonderful work; but nearly all use a lot of the funds they receive for administration and legal costs. I’m repeating myself, but Mercy Corps is using 100% of your dollars for Haiti relief.

Pls do whatever you can, by whatever means feels right to you.
