A New Shawlette

Yep, I’m working on a new shawlette. Clearly I have shawlette fever.

I cheated on the pic I showed you yesterday, because it is from Sunday afternoon. Here is the current state of the shawlette.

Sorry for the crappy flash pic — it’s dark, so hard to get a good shot.

I’m knitting this from one of my favorite sock yarns: Sanguine Gryphon Eidos. The colorway is “Polimarchus” — ain’t it purdy?

I’m using a U.S. size 6 needle for this one. I used a size 5 for Argus, but the Eidos is a bit . . . I dunno . . . firmer than the MadTosh sock yarn I used for Argus so I figured I’d go up a needle size.

Like Argus, I’m trying to make this from one skein of sock yarn and so far it looks like I’ll be successful.

And Lucy is hard at work keeping my place on the couch warm.

  1. You and me both – I’m totally on a shawlette kick right now!

Wendy, I haven’t been reading the blogs for several days. Good luck with your back issues. The shawlettes are gorgeous, but remind me of a knitting instructor who had a pattern for a “shapely shawlette”…not so much! Jo

  3. I love that yarn also! Lucy is so conciderate to keep your place warm. Hope your back is feeling better. I hope this shawlette will work out for you because some yarn is just too pretty to put on feet!! I would like to find more one skein shawlette patterns. I have a few but am always looking.

  4. The shawlette looks lovely. Looking forward to seeing more of it! 🙂

  5. I hope you are feeling better. Because of all this new knitting you are doing, you must be better! Lovely shawlette!

  6. You keep tempting me with this ever-growing shawlette…it’s soooo lovely.

  7. Lovely! I agree with whomever mentioned that you were in your “blue” period the other day. And I likes it!

I am glad that you are feeling better. I like the color and pattern you are using!

  9. Eidos, of all of the Sanguine Gryphon bases, takes the dye exactly as it’s seen in the head of the dyer. Kypria is my favourite; it is toned down, more subtle colour shifts. People think I’m crazy for preferring it over Bugga!, but oh well. I have a stash full of all of the SG yarns, but really haven’t worked much with them. Yet.

  10. Wendy- Doesn’t “shawlette” sound like backup singers?

    Wendy J and the Shawlettes?

  11. You have the best sock yarn stash ever. I’m always seeing a new sock yarn or an old favorite come to life!
.-= Seanna Lea´s last blog ..what are they called? =-.

  12. That’s a gorgeous yarn! And I need to be on a shawlette kick myself, but it seems to be socks, socks, and more socks. Ah, well….

  13. Ha ha!
I see a new book in your future–“Wendy J and the Shawlettes” is the perfect title for it.

  14. Shawlette fever? Isn’t that how Mary Ingalls went blind?

  15. I hope this means that your back is starting to feel better….

  16. I absolutely love shawlettes. I find that they are perfect knitting.

  17. I purchased Argus and it is going to be my Olympic knitting. I am looking forward to it.

    Scratches for Lucy!
