My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

Bind-off of the Chevron Shawlette will commence in five, four, three, two . . .

As soon as this baby is off the needles, I will cast on for the Chevron Stole. Conveniently, the yarn I have planned to use for the Chevron stole arrived in my Loopy Ewe order today.

I do so like it when a plan works out well.

This new yarn is once again Madelinetosh Tosh Sock, this one in the “Logwood” colorway. I have two skeins of it, because I think the stole will take more than one skein.

From time to time people ask me what I do with all these shawlettes. A girl can only wear so many shawls, right? I always keep a couple at the office for starters. and the smaller ones I’ve been making lately make great scarves. I do give some of them away. And right now, three of them (Argus, Seaside, and Miss Woodhouse) are visiting for the next few weeks over at fibre space.

Lucy has indicated that her own fluffy fur coat is sufficient for her, thank you.

  1. Lovely. I have to admit that I prefer stoles to shawls, but when I was first learning to knit lace I found the evenness of the rectangle another great way of making sure I was still on track with the pattern.

  2. I just love your shawlettes and am filling my Ravelry library – ha. I just got Printemps and it is gorgeous too. I was wondering in the photo on the cover page – what shawl or shawlette is that peeking out underneath from Printemps? It is blues – I was thinking Seaside (which is my favorite) but I am not sure if that one is at your house or on the shawlette press tour at Fibre Space. Must be murder to live them with them after they have returned from their oogling and ahhing.
Cannot wait to see the new chevron and thanks for coming up with all these patterns for my ever increasing sock yarn stash.

  3. I love the color on that yarn you have planned for the stole! I’ll have to go shopping for something that color… it looks very appropriate for spring knitting. (Especially when paired with the green of the shawlette… though I’m not sure you planned it that way. Combined they remind me of violets, or iris… we’ll say you planned it. 😉 )

  4. I love the Logwood colorway. It will make a beautiful stole or shawl. I am still in awe of the speed in which you finish your shawls. I’m still cranking out the same sock that you have completed three shawls in the same time space. I will have to admit, I knit awhile then rest from my knitting because of hand pain but I could do better. By the way, Lucy always looks so comfortable and relaxed. We could all take a lesson from her for our “down” time and just lay around and look gorgeous. We wish!

  5. I am looking forward to seeing this new shawlette spread out or blocked. I love the colour too. A question about Lucy, Does she ever “dig” in place before she lies down for a nap? My Siamese Truffles does and it is funny to watch but none of my others do this.

  6. Oooh- I love the color of the new yarn! Can’t wait to see the stole, and and latest shawlette!

  7. Love the Tosh Lace & Logwood is so pretty! Can’t wait to see it knitted!

  8. You should consider auctioning them off!

  9. I love the Logwood color, but it’s a funny name for such pretty yarn!! I don’t like stoles so much, but am looking forward to seeing this one.

  10. Can you ever have too many shawlettes? I think not! Logwood is gorgeous.

  11. Love the colorway – I just got roving in the same shade! I can’t wait to see how it spins up!! I’m sure your stole will be gorgeous!

  16. Oh Lucy! She’s so sweet, but I bet if she tried one of your shawlettes on, she might like it after all 🙂
