Linen Stitch

Yay! I am past the horror of 3 inches of twisted rib and into the linen stitch portion of this knit.

All of the linen stitch I’ve done in the past has you performing the slipped stitch maneuver on every row, like in these instructions.

This pattern, however, has a resting row between the slipped stitch rows where you knit around. It gives the resulting fabric a slightly different look than what I consider linen stitch.

But it is very pretty and I am well pleased with the results.

I now have to knit about 10 more inches of it before the divide for the front and back. That should keep me busy in my spare time this weekend when I am not TNNA-ing.

The yarn is nice (Rown Lenpur Linen). I’ve not used it before. It is pleasant to knit and my only gripe is that because it is a multi-strand yarn one must remain vigilant to keep from splitting it. Pointy needles do help!

So as I said yesterday, I’m off to TNNA tomorrow. No blog post on Sunday, but I will be back on Monday with a chance for you to win something very nice. See you then.

Lucy is planning her party for this weekend.

  8. I’m going to have to take a closer look at the pattern you’re making because I like the stitch. I was going to make the Lime Scarf pattern from Ravelry using the Rowan Lenpur Linen because it looks like such a nice yarn … it has that lovely cotton/bamboo sheen to it that I like. But Rowan yarns are impossible to find in AU and I just gave up … in the end I’m using the Morris & Sons Paddington yarn. It’s turning out really well and I’m definitely going to make it again … probably for my daughter Miss C who loves purple.

  20. Have fun at TNNA! Really looking forward to the surprises in Monday’s post. 🙂

  21. I find that I am much more likely to split the yarn with sharply pointed needles. The bluntness of Addi Turbos is perfect for me for splitty yarns.

  22. What a color! I just came over from The Harlot’s blog; this green thing may be contagious. I fell down at the lys over the weekend, and bought some JoJoland Harmony in a green/tan colorway. It was half price & lonely, so I brought it home. I have no idea what to feed it….
