My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

I don’t have much of anything to say today, so you get a random assortment of . . . stuff.

For the past month at work, I’ve been squeezed into one corner of my office, as there are contractors working on reinforcing the window frames at one end. Towards the end of last week things were looking like they were close to completion. When I got to the office this past Tuesday I saw this:

The contractors broke one of my windows.(Of course my beloved coworkers took full advantage of the situation to accuse me of attempting to throw myself out of the window/attempting to throw one of them out of the window.)

A building engineer came by to have a look and cheerfully told me that he’d get the “glass guys” in this week to have a look. Glass guys were here today, and in order to have room to replace the glass (it’s in a tricky corner) they need to partially dismantle my office.

This may occur tomorrow while I am on my way to Richmond for the weekend. Wouldn’t that be nice? Minimal disruption for me.

The more likely scenario is that it will occur next week and cause much disruption.

I will be very happy indeed when this whole project is over and done with and I can spread back out into my usual sloppy routine.

Here’s a happier picture:

Some MadelineTosh Tosh Sock purchased from The Loopy Ewe last week. Aren’t the colors pretty?

The colors are, left to right, Filigree, La Vie en Rose, Mulled Wine, and Creme de Menthe.

Another happy picture:

My progress on my current shawl.

And a pic for Teddy’s fans:

Teddy has been a bit disgruntled because I haven’t been knitting many socks recently, so his sock-toe modeling career is sorta going down the tubes. I’m hoping that featuring him here will cheer him up.

A happy thought — tomorrow I head down to Richmond and get to spend some quality time with my best knitting bud L-B, as well as hang out with wonderful knitters at The Yarn Lounge on Saturday afternoon. (I love The Yarn Lounge. There may be stash enhancement. Just sayin’.) It’s a quick trip — I’ll be back home late Saturday night (Amtrack willing), so Miss Lucy will only have to do without her Momma for one night.

Lucy sez:

“Momma may be getting quality time with Auntie L-B, but I get some quality time with my Daddy!”

  1. I can’t wait to see you and LB on Saturday!!!!

  2. I’ve missed Teddy. Glad to see him. Enjoy the weekend.

  3. From their website, seems there’s a yarn crawl going on in July. Sounds like a plot.

  4. anne marie in philly says:

teddy needs a sock…just sayin…perhaps one of your new (gorgeous colors!) sock yarns…

please give L-B a hug from me!

PS – last evening, one of my SnB group members told me that she always had problems with her sock heels until she bought your first sock book; the lightbulb came on, and she has never had a problem since! she wanted me to tell you THANK YOU for saving her socks and her sanity!

have a fun time with your daddy, lucy! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I really like the mulled wine. It looks glorious! I have a skein of theirs that is en route to socks (almost done the first one) out of Clematis, which is a perfect color for the I wear dark colors at work shtick.

  6. I was at the Yarn Lounge today and found it to be a wonderful shop. The folks went out of their way to try to find the 6th (according to the computer) skein of Malabrigo Silk/Merino in the colorway I loved. Only got 5, but I’m sure something lovely will come of it!

    Have fun!

  7. At my previous job, they did a build-out while we were still in the office suite, so for weeks we had to SHARE CUBICLES. So I definitely feel for you with your space being cramped. But at the same time I remind you that it could be worse!

  8. We’re looking forward to your visit! And be warned, we’ve got a bunch of Tosh Sock in stock right now….

    ps-The cake’s been ordered. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. Collette says:

Construction = suck. Even if you like the contractors.

But that sock yarn is so yummy! I had no idea the colors were like that–I must not have been paying enough attention. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m so glad Teddy is ok cause I’ve missed him. Perhaps he might make a surprise appearance at The Yarn Lounge on Saturday so his fans (that would be me) could meet him? Just sayin.

  11. ChristyH says:

Socks would be nice to see again. We wouldn’t want Teddy to be sad.

  12. Mulled Wine – love!!

    teddy looks forlorn…

Desk disruption is always a blast, I’m encountering the same thing. I spent yesterday cleaning out my old desk in preparation for new furniture—after 30 years! That meant, 30 years of weird stuffed stashed in drawers on top of the desk, under the desk. I’m off today and the plan was to move out the old furniture and assemble and put in the new and viola!, Monday I’d come in and be able to get my life in some semblance of order. Wrong. The old desk is now out (so I hear), but, the new one won’t be hear until possibly Monday afternoon. Oh joy, I love trying to do my job from a crummy old laptop, but, I guess I’ll survive. We’ll see.

Ah, Wendy, I can relate to your office woes. Hubby and I have been remodeling — major work — kitchen, two bathrooms, a bedroom converted into a small office off the kitchen and a big walk-in closet. The contractors have been stellar, but I still get frustrated because it feels like we’re sharing our home with rather obtrusive houseguests. Yesterday we had painters, cabinet installers, and general contractors putting in a tile backsplash. This morning there is no one and it feels like bliss! I actually got some knitting done and am heading for a leisurely shower! Have a fun weekend!

  15. My office is so cluttered, I don’t even want to think about what would happen if I was going through what you are — you definitely have my sympathy!

Also, any yarn with “wine” in the title is a hit with me ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you have a great time in Richmond and that Lucy properly greets your return!

  16. Oh, I am loving the happy picture of the tosh sock you have there. How could you *not* buy them with names like “mulled wine” and “creme de menthe”?
