More Wispy

Or should that be wispier?

I am plugging away on the second half of the “shrug” portion of the Wispy Cardi. I’m hoping to finish this half tonight, so I can join the two halves and get going on picking up the stitches for the ribbed portion.

Or I may wind yarn for another project. You never know.

It seems as though I will have plenty of yarn left over after completing Wispy, so Lucy will get something knitted from it. I’m leaning towards knitting her a toy from it, something around the size of her beloved fuzzy rat that she can carry around. A little blanket is a nice idea, but I have my doubts that she would actually use it.

Knitgirllls on the Road!

Those of you in the DC area, a heads up. Leslie and Laura, the Knitgirllls are coming to visit me this weekend. I can’t wait! We have lots of fun stuff planned, and they will likely record a video cast while they are with me. Lucy will be the special guest star. 😉

And on Monday, Labor Day, we plan to hang out for a spell at fibre space in Old Town Alexandria. We will likely get there late morning and be there til early afternoon. Leslie and Laura are going home Monday evening, so we need to leave in time for me to take them to the airport.

So if you want to meet the Knitgirllls and hang out and knit, stop by!

Lucy can’t wait til this weekend — more people to cater to her every whim!

  1. I am so happy that you have extra yarn and that Lucy will get something too. 🙂 I know you and the KnitGirllls will have a wonderful time, can’t wait for that video cast.

  2. You knit so FAST! I cast on this afternoon for the pi shawl since I received my yarn over the weekend. I could not get the regular cast-on or even the extra row of knitting like yours to work for me. I did the belly button cast on, and I think it’s right, but I noticed some people’s shawls have a denser middle than mine. Mine barely has a center before it has 6 yo “holes”–is that right? I’m going to keep going and just hoping my center is correct.

  3. Do you think they’d let me get on a plane today and I could just come early? I can’t wait!!

  4. I love the Knitgirllls almost as much as I love reading your blog! I hope that you make an appearance on their podcast! Pretty please??? I hope you girls have fun…I know Lucy will! :o)

  5. I’m glad to see a picture of the sweater sans Lucy and that she’s going to get something made from that yarn. Of course, if Lucy is like Izzy, she will still want to lie on the sweater. I hope that you and the knitgirrls have a wonderful long weekend. I so miss everybody and hope I get to come to Fling this year.

  6. Knitgirllls rock!

Unrelated, have you thought of designing a new pattern with a portion of proceeds going to the Pakistan flood victims? I’d buy it just to lend my support!

  7. I really like that color, it will enhance Miss Lucy’s eyes ;)♥♥♥♥

  8. Oh man. I wish I could be at fibrespace this weekend. It’s such a great store.

  9. Make something cat-blanket sized that you intend as a sort of fancy towel or oversized washcloth. This will ensure that she’ll sit on it. An object MEANT to belong to the cat will be ignored, naturally.

  10. Your sweater seems to grow so much faster than mine. Of course, you are actually working on yours while I am working on the Shetland Pi, so that might have a bit to do with it!

  11. I hope you have enough of this yarn leftover to make Lucy at least a pillow front.

I’m hoping to make it over to Fibre Space on Monday to see the three of you! (It also gives me a good excuse to check out Fibre Space; I’ve been meaning to, but, well, I just don’t head to Alexandria all that often!) An interesting thing just happened when I clicked on your link to their site (from my PC at work – at a federal agency). – Instead of getting their home page, I got a page saying: “Based on your corporate access policies, access to this web site ( ) has been blocked because the web category “Criminal Activity” is not allowed.” I wonder what sort of criminal activity my agency thinks is going on in a yarn shop?! 😉
