Hurray for September

Words cannot adequately express how happy I am that it is September. While it is still wicked hot and humid, the end is in sight! Autumn will be approaching soon!

In a fit of knitting productivity, I got a lot accomplished last night.

I completed the second half of the shrug portion of the Wispy Cardi, steam-blocked both pieces, joined them via a three-needle bind-off, seamed the sleeves, and picked up the stitches around the piece for the ribbing.

After steam-blocking the pieces, I am so happy with the knitted fabric for this. The yarn blocked out like a dream and the piece is beautifully soft and drapy. No wonder Lucy loves it.

I successfully mattress-stitched the sleeve seams.

And I did a very careful pick-up of stitches and knit one row of ribbing.

But that’s not all . . .

I did wind up a skein of yarn and started a new commuter project.

Details tomorrow!

Lucy sez:

“The suspense is killing me!”

  1. I’m with Lucy! It’s pretty.

  2. Autumn is my favorite time of year and I am SO ready for it. That pink thing you’ve started looks very interesting!

Huh Grumps. And our summer is coming. I hate hot weather.

  4. No, Lucy, the desire for your toy from your favorite yarn is killing you, not suspense.

  5. November is not so very far away now! 🙂

  6. When you say you had a productive night, you’re not kidding! How many hours did you work on it last night? Do you ever sleep?

The little pink thing looks intriguing . . .

  7. That Cardi is going to be o-so lovely!

re: “… new commuter project”, it matches Miss Lucy’s seat cushion…a conspiracy on her part, I’m sure~ hehee! ♥♥♥

  8. Yes, Lucy looks like she’s very excited, especially since she can anticipate a stuffed toy with the leftovers. Love the color of your wispy! It should be beautiful with your coloring!

Could you take a picture of your seam from the three needle bindoff? Sometimes I get a lumpy seam. Thanks for sharing your skills with us.

  10. Can you explain a 3 needle cast off. I too am making a sleeve to sleeve cardigan but until I read your comment on cast on /cast off statement. The patten had called for the Kitchener Stitch (which I till cann’t fathom out! ) to join the the 2 sides together.
    Cooler weather is wecome.

  11. Ooooh! Pink thing! Curves! Lace! I want to know!

  12. Love the fall too! I am perpetually amazed by your productivity. I’ve been knitting for over 40 years, but I can’t even come close to you!!

  13. I love the start of your commuter project. Every once in a while garter stitch is just really satisfying (and that unless my eyes are taking the day off looks like the middle section of a shawlette).

  14. I’m with Lucy on this one…can’t wait!

  15. It may be September but it’s so hot here I am eager for the hurricane to come and make it cooler! There’s no AC except in the car – not fun. Even the cats are all asking if I tele-transported us all to Georgia this week!

    Lovely green sweater!

About the pink little thing/secret…it is either a shawl for Lucy or knitted undies…..
