Part Five

Without further ado, here is Part Five of the Shetland Pi Shawl, in pdf format. This is the last piece of the puzzle, so once you download this, you will have the entire pattern.

I don’t have time for a lengthy blog entry today because I am busy with my lovely houseguests, the Knitgirllls. They arrived a bit before noon yesterday and we had a great day of knitting and fun.

Lala is battling with the Angry Birds on my iPad.

Leslie is photographing said battle.

And Lucy is so delighted to have extra peeps to play with she doesn’t know what to do.

We are getting a little knitting done too. ūüėČ

Now, if you’ll excuse me, we have a day of fun planned. time to get started!

  1. Hope y’all will be having a great visit. We’re looking forward to seeing any knitting consequences.

  2. 1horsetown says:

Angry Birds!! What an amazingly addictive little game. Have fun this weekend!

  3. Looks like a fun time! I hope you all have a blast.
.-= Virginia´s last blog ..Whats the Haps- yo =-.

  4. drat I think I missed part 4 gonna have to search the archives for it, oops. I’ve been moving and not checking like a good girl.
.-= Aunt Kathy´s last blog ..September 1- We Are All Winners =-.

  5. Looks like you all are having a great time.

  6. I’m glad y’all are having a great time. Wish I was there with you, but it’s all good that you are having such a good time.
.-= Lynda´s last blog ..I was doing so well =-.

  7. I’m glad y’all are having a great time. Wish I was there with you, but it’s all good that you are having such a good time.

  8. Wendy, when I opened Part 5, the symbols were letters instead of your normal chart symbols. For example, the YO’s were the letter “j”.

Just wanted to bring it to your attention.

    Thanks! mb

  9. Boy, you’re quick! I went to it off of Ravelry and the symbols weren’t the letters anymore. Turbo!

  10. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful pattern. I am in the middle of part four and am looking forward to starting part five. Have a wonderful visit with your friends and try giving your fingers a rest. They must be doing yo’s in your sleep.

  11. Have a wonderful time!! Thank you for the entire pattern. Thank you for your generosity.

  12. Thank you Wendy. Hope you girls have a wonderful day…Lala rocks, we’re Steelers fans also.

  13. Just started to read Part Five – but if I’m correct that when I have 576 sts on my needle an increase by k2tog, yo then I have 2×576 sts??? Are the subsequent numbers of 576 wrong? Please help! Thanks, Claudia

  14. jealous (1,000,000) – you get to spend the weekend with the lovely Lara and Leslie, and I get to be traumatised by a 7.1 earthquake! I’ve broken out the cashmere sock yarn to comfort myself but I’m not sure even cashmere can overcome all these f’ing aftershocks!!! have some extra fun just for me would ya?

  15. Bertha Mallard says:

I’m still working Step 4 and having an absolute ball watching the yarn fly. Step 5 is calling me so I must hurry and get there. My shawl is a variegated red yarn and is going to look great for the Christmas holidays. Hope I don’t get weak and give it away as a Christmas gift!!! Thanks again, Wendy, for a lovely pattern. Hope you enjoy the days with your knitting friends.

  16. Tell Lala that I was up until 12:30 am doing Angry Birds on my iPad. I just can’t stop…’s interfering with my knitting. Glad you’re having a fun weekend.

  17. Dianna aka domesticarts says:

Didn’t I read that we actually increased to the 1152, then did your remaining border rounds? I see in part 5 you actually did not increase. Was that due to the size it blocked out to? As we did not increase, I might go up a size in needles for this last part. Great pattern. It has been great fun!

  18. How exciting! Thanks y’all for sharing your Rock Star gathering, and for the extra treat: part five. Almost ready.
    .-= LoriAngela´s last blog ..Seasonal Changes =-.

  19. 1horsetown says:

Claudia……. the K2, YO isn’t an increase. Your stitch count stays the same. The increase to 1152 happens later. It’s a change in the rhythm of the pattern.

  20. i would love what ever it is you are giving away………..cause i love lucy…
she reminds me of my 17 year old blind murphy…………cats are wonderfull

  21. Georgia H Chilton says:

Lucy reminds me of a Ragdoll Cat I had, Daphne Doodle. They are wonderful cats.

I have both of your books. I have used both. Really like them. They really got me going on knitting socks from the toes up with wonderful results.

Also, now I think I could possible start to design some socks from scratch, based on some of your patterns.

The card pattern packets would be a wonderful gift!!

    Thank you.

  22. Oh! Would love to get this box. You are the reason that I knit toe-up socks. Couldn’t seem to get the hang of it until I got your 1st book and have been saving for a good while to get the 2nd. I f I won this, I wouldn’t have to get the book and could afford more yarn. Keep up the good work and KEEP KNITTING AND DESIGNING>

  23. I love making toe-up socks so am looking forward to seeing your boxed set. Not too fond of the fit of the Wispy Cardi. You have helped me decide not to make it. Love the Pi Shawl though. I downloaded the pieces of the pattern and, when I’ve finished the shawl I’m currently working, on it will be my next piece. I really look forward to your daily blog entries. You are such a fast knitter. Maybe someday I will be fast and accurate too. Practice, practice, practice.

  24. Lynda Treen says:

I just LOVE the idea of socks in a box. Little cards to pick out and carry…oh what fun I could have. Thank you so much!!!

  25. Kathy Mahoney says:

Oh how I envy your talent. Everything you knit is with ease. I am new to sock knitting but amy coming along – would love to have your newest sock box edition.
Thanks for all your helpful hints – Thanks for sharing. Kathy

  28. Barbara Boyle says:

Please enter me in the drawing for Toe-up Socks in a Box….I’m currently learning how to knit toe-up socks, and you wouldn’t believe how many pages I’ve bookmarked to help me. By the way, my cat, Savannah, looks like Lucy’s sister. She’s a blue-point Birman. Thanks so much! Barbara Boyle

Should I win with your random generator pick, I’d have to learn how to knit socks. “I think I can. I think I can!” says the 68 year-old retired Kindergarten teacher.

  35. knitatbeach says:

I have one skein of expensive, soft yarn and want to use every bit of it for socks.
Your toe up socks in a box would be perfect.

I love Lucy! Had to have my nearly 16-year-old cat, Sally, put to sleep this past May, and get my “cat fix” every day from your post! I also love to knit socks, and am
