Hat Trick

Today, I finished a hat.

I completed this in three days of commuting — a nice fast knit.

The pattern is a basic 2×2 ribbed watch cap. I used the free pattern on the Hats for Israeli Soldiers blog. It’s made from worsted weight yarn. I used Dream in Color Classy in the “Midnight Derby” colorway and a U.S. size 6 (4mm) needle. My hat used a bit more than half the 4-ounce skein of yarn.

Now it’s back to my sleeve full time.

Lucy is probably deciding what time she will wake me up tonight.

  1. Oh I’ve been looking at hat patterns, for my boyfriends x-mas present. This may just be what he will be receiving. I love fast little knits!
.-= Frankie´s last blog ..Spindles and Bobbins- Oh my! =-.

  2. The more I look at the yarn that you used for your hat, the more I like it, especially the subtle shading. It turned out well! That’s a lucky sailor who gets to wear it.

  3. The hat is perfect. I also like the particular yarn you used. I guess I will copy yours!

  4. I’m hoping that Lucy doesn’t wake you up at all…

The hat is lovely. Somebody very lucky will get that one. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. thank you for the gentle reminder. *off to knit a bit on her hat*

  6. All I can say is, you must have a heckuva commute. Three round trips and you’ve got a finished object. Oh, well, I’ll knit a bit more on mine tonight. Thanks for alerting us to this worthy project.

Very nice hat! I think my cat Marmalade is related to Lucy…I was trying to take a little nap this afternoon and she got her whiskers right up in my face so I never did really go to sleep. I finally got up to put her out of the room, but then I was wide awake! LOL

  8. About the title of this post… it’s only a hat trick if you make two more. =P

  9. I really like that Midnight Derby and I’m wanting to try Dream in Color too ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. To stop a cat from waking you: the advice I was given was to have the stuff at the bedside and very happily break into wrapping her in a towel and clipping her nails (if that’s what the cat hates). It doesn’t hurt, but it does discourage. Anything but positive reinforcement.

  11. The sailors will be fighting over that one!

  12. Thanks for the pattern link, I’ve been itching to knit myself a nice warm hat before the weather gets too cold.

  13. Nice to see it finished. I’m using the same pattern, but only have about 4″ finished, using a 16″ #7 Addi Turbo circ — I only have one #6 and it’s tied up elsewhere. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  15. luv the yarn color, almost ready to decrease my hat, should finish tonight — thanks for encouraging us to recognize our military personnel and I agree with MicheleinMaine that hat will be fought over.

I think Lucy and my cat Sake must be coordinating their attacks somehow. Does Lucy know how to text?
