My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

I finished and steam-blocked my first Camp Loopy project, my Daybreak shawl, Thursday night.

I made the medium size and used Skinny Bugga! in the “Cuban Cockroach” and “Question Mark Butterfly” colorways on a U.S. size 4 (3.5mm) needle. This was a fast, enjoyable knit. I’m very happy with the colors I chose — reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream. 😉

I’ve started another shawl, with a different construction technique, just for fun. Here is a sneak preview:

I took the photo last Friday at the office. I call it “Still Life With Security Badge.” The yarn is Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in the Creme de Menthe colorway (yum). You can tell I am fond of green, can’t you?

Vogue Knitting Live

You probably know that Vogue Knitting is doing another Live event — this one in Los Angeles on September 23-25, 2011.

Vogue Knitting sends me lots of lovely books to review, many of which I pass on to my readers via blog contests. Now they are offering a VKLive giveaway: free marketplace tickets to two of my readers, and those two winners will be entered in a larger contest to win a basketful of VK Live branded goodies.

You can read more about the event here:

If you are interested in attending and would like to be entered in the drawing for a free marketplace ticket, please leave a comment to this post letting me know. I’ll draw the winners (via the Random Number Generator as per usual) on Thursday, June 30, so please get your comments posted by noon EDT on Thursday.

Why I did Not Get Much Knitting Done This Weekend

I’ve named him Thor. 😀

Meanwhile, Lucy is more interested in digging around for a nail file.

She has no shame.

  1. Your Daybreak is gorgeous! Love the color choice!

  2. Hmm… mint choc chip ice cream … Lovely shawl and those colours really do suit each other! (Don’t enter me into the draw, thanks)

  3. Love your Daybreak, have to put that pattern in my Raverly queue.

  4. Wendy, your shawl is just beautiful. I’d love to win tickets to VK Live. That’s a great giveaway!

  5. Love that shawl! I seriously need to make one … but finishing Chadwick for Camp Loopy comes first.

I would so love to go to the VKL event …. especially since I live so close to L.A. and will be home on June 30!

  6. I live in LA and would love to win! It would be great to get in for free so I can spend the ticket price money on all the goodies in the marketplace! Thanks!

  7. What’s not to like about knitting that makes you think of ice cream?!! The new knit reminds me of pistachio ice cream – can’t wait to see where knitting the edging first takes you!! You’re so very clever!

I remember you had a Droid, and I think you used the dock to turn it into an alarm clock. Do you miss that with your new phone? I’ve been using the Droid as my alarm clock since I got it, and I think I would miss it sorely if I started using another phone. It was bad enough when they ‘upgraded’ the OS and we lost the “always on” face of the clock…

    Happy Sunday!

  9. I love your Daybreak – I’ve been looking a small shawls also – they’re so handy! I have to start school again in August, but I’d go to LA if I won the goodies – it would give me an excuse to take a trip!

  23. Suzanne says:

I love your Daybreak. I made one but my colors seem to blend together. One of my cats love to play with emery boards, I can’t leave them out and she finds them when I hide them. I’m looking at phones, will have to check that one out.
