Love is All Around

Here it is the last day of June. Where did the month go? For that matter, where has the year gone? It seems like it was just January.

My little scarf/shawlette thingie is done, see?

It’s really more of a scarf than a shawlette.

It used about 250 yards of fingering weight yarn.

Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in the Creme de Menthe colorway, to be exact.

I’m very happy with it!

Using the same construction technique and lace edging, I plan to make another one that is more of a shawlette — it’ll have a deeper “body” so it is longer from top to bottom. More about that on Sunday. I’ll offer the two versions together in one pattern.

Gotta love a two-fer.

Other things to love . . .

We Love Lynn Zimmerman

My buddy Lynn Zimmerman is doing her second annual Make A Wish fundraiser — all details are over on her blog. If you donate $5.00 via her donation page (linked to from her blog with detailed instructions), Lynn will send you a copy of Laura Linneman’s beautiful My Wish Shawl Pattern. You have until August 26 to make donations.

But wait, there’s more!

For every $10.00 you donate, you will receive an entry in a drawing for some wonderful prizes! Check out Lynn’s prize blog post for details on what you could win. There are some wonderful prizes!

Actually, I think I am being very altruistic mentioning this because if I didn’t, fewer people would know about it and I would have a better chance of winning one of those amazing prizes. Of course, the fact that the Knitgirllls talked about this on their last podcast means it is already out there. So I’m not being so altruistic after all.

We Love Vogue Knitting

Because they always send me wonderful books to review, and because they authorized me to give away free tickets to the upcoming VK Live market in Los Angeles to two of my readers. These two lucky readers, chosen at random from the comments, are Brenna D. and Cathie Jones. I have emailed you two and have sent your email addys to Vogue Knitting and they will be in touch with you.

We Love Potter Craft

A couple of weeks ago I got two advance-advance copies of my upcoming book (to be published August 23) Wendy Knits Lace from my publisher, Potter Craft. (I get a box of copies next month, but the printer sends a few on early and I always get a couple of those).

I kept one copy of course, and sent the second copy to my awesome tech editor L-B because after all the work she put in on this book, she deserved to be one of the first to have it.

Yesterday Potter Craft told me they are sending me another copy so I can do a blog giveaway now!

Who’d like it?

To be entered in the drawing for this advance-advance copy of Wendy Knits Lace, leave a comment on this blog post. I will draw a winner from among the comments using the Random Number Generator at about 4:00pm EDT next Thursday, July 7, so be sure and have your comment in by then!

Last But Most Certainly Not Least

We love Lucy!

Ooooooooo, me me me me me puuuuleeeeeease!! I would love to have your book! I will buy it anyway, but it would be extra special to have one that was really yours. THANKS!

  5. Winning your book would be awesome but I suspect that whether I win or not, a copy will find it’s way onto my knitting bookshelf in the near future. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for my future knitting!

  6. Michelle says:

In honor of your new book, I think you should update your about page from “currently obsessed with knitting socks” to obsessed with knitting lace. Your socks and shawls are both beautiful, but I think your shawls have stolen the show lately.

  7. I am deeply in love with nameless little scarf/shawlette thingie! Perfect for summer knitting in hot AZ!!! Waiting for pattern with baited breath! Wendy you rock! Lucy, you know YOU rock!

  8. Melissa says:

Count me in. It looks like a great book. Congratulations.

  9. I love your lace patterns. I finally finished the summer surprise shawlette and my daughter is eyeing it covetously – which is bad ’cause she’s Buddhist and greed is not a good thing, so I’m going to have to give it to her. So I want more of your wonderful lace patterns! Please?

  10. Bethany says:

The book cover photo is lovely!

  11. My first shawl was the Summer Mystery Shawl. Loved it and would love a copy of your new book!

  12. Jane Pulley says:

Hope I win the book but if I don’t I have it on my Wish List at Amazon!!

  13. Lovely lace, lovely Lucy!

  14. Would love a chance to win this book. Thanks!

  15. I discovered you from Lisa at 90% Knitting, when she talked about the “Summer Mystery Shawlette”. That was my first mystery KAL, my first shawl and my first real bit of lace knitting (I’ve done a little bit before, but nothing like this) and I LOVE IT! I would love to win your book, but will likely buy it when the time comes.

    Thanks!

  16. bellatulips says:

I’d love a copy of your lace book! It looks stunning! And I’d love to see the second version of your ‘scarf’ as well! 🙂

  19. What a great job on the new shawlette/scarf, love it! It sort of reminds me of the Pimpelliese…I made on for my mom not long ago. I’d love to have a copy of your book. When are you going to do another mystery KAL? that was so fun!

  20. Yes, I would like the book! Give Lucy a hug, if that’s what she likes. My cat, the Divine One, likes hugs.

  21. I was never very interested in shawls or lace until I started following you. You have certainly sparked my interest and now I’m obsessed. I would love to be the lucky one who wins your book.

  22. Darlene says:

Your new book looks great… Please add my entry. Thanks!

  23. Ooh, the book looks lovely! Such a great cover. 🙂

  24. I’m really, really looking forward to seeing this book. I’d love to see it even sooner than in the Fall.

  25. I am on a serious lace kick right now and am also looking at patterns to make my sister a shawl for her wedding next summer. The book would be awesome, but I also think a larger version of what you’ve just posted might do the trick, too… hmmmm.

  26. (Trying again.) I’m really looking forward to seeing this new book in the Fall. Still, I’d love to see it even sooner. Especially since I enjoyed making the Mystery shawlette.

  27. Your scarf/shawlette would be so perfect under the colar of a black winter coat for just a pop of color, maybe to coordinate with a special hat! What a cutie. Lucy, too.
