My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

Still With the Lace

I am still working along on my current lace sweater. I’ve had a couple of evenings where other stuff took up a chunk of my knitting time, so my progress is not dramatic.

I did finish the front and attached it to the back via a three-needle bind-off. Then neatly folded up my work.

I think I mentioned that this will be a boatneck sweater. I plan to single-crochet around the bound-off edge of the neck to finish it. That will likely occur this weekend.

And I am working along on the first sleeve.

As you can see, I am using one of my beloved Signature Needle Arts needles.

Speaking of Signature Needle Arts, did you know that one of the prizes  being offered in the Hats for Sailors projects is a $50 gift certificate from SNA? That sounds to me like a good reason to send in a hat! One of many good reasons, that is.

My apologies for the less-than-great-photos. It is dark and creepy outside. The sky a few minutes ago:

And to close, a photo of Lucy, complete with head!

  1. Even your less well lit photos are pretty darn good. Lucy looks much better with a head, but my favorite kitty pictures are always when they are in the loaf position and look like they have hidden their legs away for safe keeping.

  2. Wendy: glad to see Lucy hasn’t lost her head over all the lace knitting. I have been knitting lace for some time now, and I love your book. Once I finish my current project, I’ll be starting a project from Wendy Knits Lace. Thanks for all your hard work.

  3. I`m with you Wendy I love my signature needles too. I`m a sock knitter mostly and I waitting for them to come out with the size #1 and size #2 circ needles. I want to get back to my toe ups. For now I most do my cuff downs. Nice to see Lucy`s head has returned

  4. I could say that the photos really looks good and pretty and I should also engaged myself on knitiing and glad to hear about that Signature needle. On the other hand, Lucy really looks cute as I’ve seen in the pictures. I’m very eager to embrace that cat.

  5. I want you to know that I purchased your new book (via Knit Picks)…..whether or not I’ll actually *do* a project out of there remains to be seen……but I think I’ll find something 🙂

I just wanted it so I could say, “hey, I read her blog and she’s fantabulous!” or something to that effect.

I may also think about a hat for the sailors…I’m so behind on my knitting challenge (11 hats in 2011) that this may be a good way to get me moving again.

  6. Your mention of the Hats for Sailors group is well timed. I just finished a hat and started another that I didn’t have a home for. So, I hopped on over to Ravelry and joined the group and now the hats can keep a sailor’s head toasty. 🙂

  7. Thought you might enjoy this cat’s birthday complete with cake and gifts perfect for this kitty. Of course, Lucy is much more refined than this fellow.

  8. Thanks to your mystery shawl pattern earlier this summer I finally learned to read lace graph patterns. So I bought your book (Love it) and am doing the spiral afghan. It will make a great Christmas gift.
PS I’m in Texas, please send us your rain. Thanks

  9. Liz in Missouri says:

I love the color of this latest sweater. It’s going to be just beautiful. Glad to see Lucy regrew her head.

  10. Luxury yarn plus signature circs = pure knitting bliss!

  11. How about a DVD for the 10 year old? I find my kids prefer a visual to a book.

If a book is preferred The Klutz books are really good and come with all the necessary supplies.

  12. Wendy, Tell Lucy that Wand just wants to add a bit of Fall color to her life! And I love your new Lace book, especially the beginning chapters. You did a great job on it. Pat
