Quoth the Raven

Despite all sorts of things taking up my time this week I did finally sit down yesterday and seam up my last sweater. Here it is:

I haven’t even tried it on yet. That’s what kind of week it has been. But there it is.

I knit this from my current favorite yarn, Hand Maiden Swiss Silk in the “Earth” colorway, on a U.S. size 6 (4mm needle). It’s a very simple sweater, just 4 rectangles: front, back, and two sleeves. The neck is a boatneck so there isn’t even any neck shaping. And the lace pattern is a simple 4-row all-over design.

So I’ve started something new.

Yes, it is another lace sweater. Yes, it is being knit from Hand Maiden Swiss Silk. This colorway is an almost-solid black and is called “Raven.”

And just for grins, I thought I’d start it with a bobble border. 🙂

So far so good!

And just in case you were wondering, I have planned at least two more lace sweaters knit from Hand Maiden Swiss Silk.

Lucy sez:

“I have been taking all of Momma’s knitting time this week. It is all about me, me, me.”

  1. It’s OK Lucy. You are definitely more important than knitting.

I love the black. I have a hard time finding colors I want to wear sometimes, because everything is so bright. I’ll have to look for some of that for myself.

  3. Love the current projects (love all your projects). Finally had some funds so ordered your Lace book today, hooray! Can’t wait for it to get here. Thanks for all you do!

  4. I bought the “Ivory” Swiss Silk colorway from Loopy Ewe to make one of your tunics, and WOW, it is so fantastic , I am not sure I will ever knit it into anything. Just sit it on my desk and stare at it. A little pink, silver, gold and ivory blended into that marvelous shiny soft base. Thank you for introducing me to this yarn!

  7. Lovely lace ! I’m certain that the second project will be great too !

  8. As long as there are no bobbles on the front that might fall in – er – inappropriate places – like that infamous Vogue Knitting sweater.

  9. Michele Eskew says:

I was looking at your tunic patterns on Ravelry and I have a question. I see for your size small the chest measures 41.5″. I’m wondering about the fit as I am a very petite person. I would normally choose the size that goes with a 36″ measurement. I would be able to change the size some by blocking but would I need to use less repeats? Can I do that? I have lots of cute camis that I would love to wear one of these over. Thanks!

  11. The completed sweater is very pretty, love the drape. Raven is a great name for a colorway, especially for this time of year.

Hope you and Lucy have a great weekend.

  12. Hey, Wendy–any chance you could recommend another (slightly more cost-effective) comparable yarn, for those of us who are slightly unsure about making ourselves sweaters and not ready to commit to all that Handmaiden Silk? 🙂

  13. Hope Ms. Lucy is feeling fine and not sick!

Love the sweaters color, and those bobbles rock, and they do look like bats hanging upside down…COOOL!
