Just Do It

Yesterday afternoon after work I settled down to my favorite Monday activity: watching the latest Knitgirllls videocast while working on my current project. It was during the videocast that I discovered that Laura has declared this coming Sunday “Knit On Whatever the Heck You Want Day.” What a great idea!

For some of us in the U.S., this coming weekend is a holiday weekend: Monday is Columbus Day and I am lucky enough to have the day off. (One of the advantages of being a fed — federal holidays!) That makes “Knit On Whatever the Heck You Want Day” even better in my opinion. I can stay up late and watch fun stuff on tv while I knit on whatever the heck I want.

I think I’ll start knitting this:

This yummy skein is MadelineTosh Vintage in the”Ms Taylor” colorway and it is going to become another Super Slouch Hat, the fourth variation I will have done for this pattern.

This hat will be my Fourth Quarter Loopy Ewe Challenge as well.

What do you think you will knit on? You can discuss your ideas in the topic thread on the Knitgirllls’ Ravelry Group, or you can leave a comment to this post and tell me. Or both. 🙂

Beyond Toes!

Thank you for the great response to the Beyond Toes giveaway! I awoke the great and mighty Random Number Generator and exhorted it to give me a number. It did, and the winner is Donna, who I met at Carodan Farm’s SoXperience last April. Donna, I’ve emailed you.

Other New Stuff

Last week there was a Piddleloop shop update and I was very happy to snag a large wedge bag, this one featuring Mr. Sheep:

Isn’t it cute? I love it! The large wedge bags are plenty big enough to hold a substantial chunk o’ knitting.

Speaking of a substantial chunk o’ knitting, I have done a fair bit on the front of my current sweater.

Great photo, huh? 😉

I am working on stealth projects for commuter knitting, so this is an at-home project only. That means that the majority of my work on it happens on weekends. So there is little knitting time during the week (though I did carve out a nice chunk of knitting time while watching the Knitgirllls yesterday).

“I have something new, too! Momma got me a new placemat!”

  1. I’m off on Monday too! Yay for working for the government!

  2. Now you have me checking to see if we’re off Monday or not. Depends on my customer and I’m new to this site.
I think I’m going to knit your second lace tunic for the Loopy Ewe’s 4th quarter challenge. I’ve already got the pattern and Tosh Merino Light in Rose is in my cart, waiting for me to push the button. I think your tunic patterns are so lacy that even if made with wool they won’t be too hot. I’ll see!
I got a real tickle out of Lucy’s new placement. You kitchen “cat corner” looks so much like mine :> We ktty moms like our kids to have nice places to eat.!

  3. Holy sheep!!! I won 🙂 emailing you now…..
I’m off Monday too (yay working for an insurance agency!!) I have a full sock knitting day planned !

  4. If you are doing a 4th version of super slouch and we already bought the pattern, are we going to get an update for the latest variation?

  5. anne marie in philly says:

I gotta work on monday – I don’t get fed holidays, just the traditional ones.

I knit on whatever I want EVERY day; some days I work on 3 or 4 different things!

steven and meredith say: “meow, cousin lucy, we are jealous of your new placemat!”

  6. I have to work Sunday and Monday. I’m the leader of the Sunday KAL at the yarn shop so I’m going to knit on whatever the heck I want on Saturday (which will be my Sabbath/pajama day). I have enough Cascade Eco Duo to knit a henley sweater but am trying not to cast on till I’ve finished my Christmas knits. I may have to swatch and cast on and knit a few rows.

  8. I unfortunately have to work on Monday but I plan on taking advantage of knitting on whatever I want to on Sunday to celebrate! I will also be using the colorway Ms. Taylor for my Fourth Quarter Challenge project but in the Pashmina base for the Summer Flies shawl 🙂 Happy Knitting!

    I just wanted to say . . .

I follow your blog. I admire your work, and enjoy the Lucy updates.

But it is *totally not fair* that you have all this time to knit (says the college student currently buried under homework)

That was all very tongue-in-cheek and not serious, just so you know 🙂

  10. Oh please tell us where Lucy’s placemat came from? We have been looking for something like that for our cat’s food corner.

  11. My kitties, Bruiser, Fiona, Lucy and Eddie have the same placemat and read it to me every morning. We got ours at Petsmart in Florissant, Missouri.

  12. That’s one of my favourite Monday activities too! And, Monday is my day off each week, so it’s extra nice to sit back and relax and watch Leslie and Laura after a long week.
I’ll be knitting on my Wollmeise sweater! I can’t make it to Rhinebeck, but I decided to knit a Rhinebeck sweater anyway.
