My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

First things first, the winner of my copy of  Cut It, Sew It, Stow It is Ms. LazySockMonkey Lisa. Thanks to everyone who entered the giveaway!

On to the main attraction: a completed Hitofude!

I used 5 skeins of Dragonfly Fibers Dance Rustic Silk in the Spanish Moss colorway and lengthened the piece by 4 pattern repeats. After steam-blocking, the length in the back is 37″ from neck to hem.  As you can see from the photo above, it is shorter in the front.

I added the optional buttonhole and button.

I am very pleased with this sweater. It’s such a clever design and not overly difficult to knit. It;s just a whole lot of knitting — the rows get pretty long towards the bottom. The results are well worth the effort. It’s going to look great over a plain black dress.

Onward . . .

This is what I am using to knit my new project. more on that in my next blog post!

It is snowing here, and is supposed to continue with snow, sleet, and freezing all day and night into tomorrow. Loki and I are going to hunker down and enjoy the day indoors.

Yes, he is lying on the dining room table.

  1. YAY! Thank you! Hitofude looks AMAZING! My cats travel my table all the time. Try and stop them!

  2. Of course he’s on the table. Look how well he goes with the table cloth. It was obviously planned that way. He is the perfect centerpiece.

  3. I finally put a cat bed on the dining room table, to better accommodate Alice!

  4. My cats think the kitchen counter is their personal snack bar! Your latest creation is stunning! I have the pattern, now just to find the appropriate yarn.

  5. Great picture of Loki–we’d all like to think that our cats don’t get on the table, counters, wherever, but I feel certain mine is perfectly happy on all these spots. The sweater turned out great!

  6. Your Hitofude is gorgeous! You are right; it’s a whole lot of knitting. Seeing a finished one gives me inspiration to knit on.

  7. Lovely creation, as usual! I adopted a young female cat from my cousin outside Dallas. She shipped BJ to Herndon last month. Cousin taught her well. No tables or counters and….she uses the scratching post!

  8. Wow! That is stunning. Well done! (p.s. where else would a cat sit? Mine favor the diningroom table or the kitchen island!)

  9. This looks stunning 🙂

  10. So pretty, and it will look great over that LBD.
Our 2 cats pretty much own all the furniture.

  11. The Hitofude looks like damask. People will rave when you wear it.

Stay safe and snug. And may your power stay on!

  12. Oh my…your Hitofude is quite beautiful. Wow! Good job!

  13. Kitties have no boundaries and they shouldn’t, when I had my babies nothing was off limits, love me, love my cats. The Hitofude is amazing, so elegant, I hope you go to many holiday festivities wearing it, you will be the envy of every woman in the room. I would love to knit one but have no wear to wear it, so I will settle on living vicariously through you, lol. Hope you don’t mind.

  14. Your Hitofude is absolutely stunning! It will look wonderful over your black dress. It is so elegant. Love Loki’s latest picture too! He is such a darling.

  15. Shirley Gallagher says:

Oh my, your Hitofude is gorgeous. I love the color too, it really shows the pattern. My cat also loves tables, and will remove anything that’s in his way when he wants to lay down on one. Loki looks perfectly at home.

  16. Beautiful Hitofude. The color is lovely. Our cat, Briar is on our table daily and is enjoying taking ornaments of the Christmas tree that is there now. She likes to get on the table and pat our back when we are on the computer. If she could only work it into a shoulder massage – perfect!

  17. Tamara Lin says:

Lovely sweater! I might need to make this one. Looking forward to what’s next – love those colors.

Had to comment about Loki. As our cats would quickly point out, he’s not on the table. He’s on that blanket thing you put on the table. Totally different. 😉

    Stay warm!

  18. Congrats to Lisa! (and boo-hoo, I didn’t get picked [sound of very tiny violin….]). Hitofude looks Mah-velous, darling. Two thoughts on the cat on the dining table: thought the first was just “AAUUGGHHH! Gititoff gititoff!”; then I read Sidney’s comment and thought, Amen. And even if you’d rather he didn’t, he will as soon as your back is turned–that’s cattitude.

  19. Love your FO! Can’t wait to see what you are going to do with the Zauberball – beautiful colors! My kitties go where they like to . . . . . Could tell my brother was appalled when 1 was on the kitchen counter briefly at Thanksgiving;O))

  20. Lestersmama says:

When we visit my Mum, my Lester is allowed on the table. Gramma & kitty both eat their bowls of yoghurt for breakfast. Then Gramma clears the table, changes the tablecloth and Lester stays off the table until breakfast the neaxt morning. But he’s not spoiled! 😉

  21. Cats on the table is why I eat off of PLATES!!! Bang up job on the Hitofude!! Can’t imagine what the next project is, those colors are gorgeous though!!

  22. Oh, and Congratulations Lisa, looks like a great book!

  23. Savannagal says:

Wow, your cardigan is gorgeous. I love the color you chose. You’re such an inspiration.

  24. It’s gorgeous! As is Loki. My cats and I hope you’ll stay warm this winter. Mine are curled up in my yarn napping. No knitting for a while…..

  25. Your Hitofude came out beautiful, Wendy! I’ve got one on the needles, too. (It’s your fault!) Just two repeats done, so far. I assume that your extra repeats are at the bottom of the piece, right? It looks to me as if your sleeves are longer than the original. Did you add on to it before starting? I would have liked to have longer sleeves, but I’m not experienced enough to figure out how to do that. Maybe I could figure out how to add something on afterwards, that doesn’t look too much as if it was added on! Or maybe it will come out looking OK just the way it is. And, no, I’m not going to unravel and start over!

  26. The fabric of Hilofude is beautiful. Loki is beautiful too! So are the two colors for your new project.

  27. Beautifully knit….as always.
Your blog is really great for inspiration. Even though I may not be knitting the same pattern as you, your amazing productivity spurs me on to get going on my own knitting.
Well…….of course Loki ‘chills’ on the dining table. Where else is he supposed to hang out?

  28. Cecilia David says:

I thought all cats think that dining room table is fair game. Cd

  29. Oooooo pretty pretty pretty!
