My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

Another blog silence, though this one was not due to fun, rather, to flu. But I am alive and for the most part recovered!

The winner of a copy of the eBook of Amazing Lace, by Sharon Mooney and Cheryl Potter is Rosane, who has been emailed. Thanks to everyone who entered the giveaway. I have another cool book to review, with another eBook giveaway, so check back on Wednesday.

And guess what? I finished Claremont! This is knit from SilverSpun fingering weight yarn, and it is wonderfully soft!

Here is a photo of it being worn. Be gentle — I took this while I was recovering from my bout with the flu.

(Do you like my stylin’ pigtails?)

I used mother of pearl buttons that match the yarn color very well:

And here is a close-up of the front band.

And here is the Little Prince, worn out from play!

  1. Did Loki get a lot of snuggling in whilst you were sick?

  2. Oh no! Sorry that you were sick! Hope you’re on the mend now. I expect your fluff-ball nurse was by your side, taking care of you?

  3. Shirley Gallagher says:

You’ve had so many health problems, I’m so sorry you had the flu too. I hope you get stronger quickly, Loki needs his mommy.

  4. Looks great – nice and cozy! And I love that you’re rocking braided pigtails…. I do it at least a couple times a week – and I think more of us should reclaim the style!

  5. Oh that cat! Glad you’re feeling better.

  6. Looks great! Can’t believe you can do so much while sick! Feel better

  7. So pretty!

  8. That is one gorgeous sweater! And, yes, I do love the pigtails! Wish I could do that with my hair, but I never let it get long enough. Hope you’re feeling better!

  9. So sorry had the flu- I did last winter and it was awful. I’m impressed you felt good enogh to knit. I love your buttonbands. And your little Prince;)

  10. Deborah Gajee says:

So happy you are better. Lovely sweater.

  11. So pretty. The mother of pearl buttons look just right.

  12. Catherine S. says:

This one will be worn every day for the rest of your life, I predict. Most excellent! I’m guessing Loki loved having you to snuggle while you were sick. 🙂

  13. Eek sorry you were ill. I hope you are on the mend now. Beautiful cardi. Nice braids 🙂

  14. Hope you are feeling better. Be careful you don’t relapse. The people I work with have had the flu and when they thought they were better would slip back down for a day or two. Stay well.

  15. Sorry you were sick and glad you’re recovering. Very pretty sweater.

  16. Love it, looks beautiful on you!

  17. Lynne in Florida says:

So glad you’re recovering from that flu. It can make you feel soooo miserable, for what seems like forever. I really like the Claremont sweater, but if I had been knitting it, I would have made the sleeves about 2″ longer, if not more. It was funny-odd, but when I looked at the picture, I could feel the sweater wrapped around me. I hope it’s as comfortable on you as it was on me.

His Highness the Little Prince is looking beautiful, as usual. It would be really cool, but probably impossible, to get an “action” picture, of him at play.

  18. Lauren Kowalczewski says:

I hope you’re feeling all better…Please remember to get a flu shot! They really do help.
I just wanted to tell you I love the Claremont!! It’s beautiful.

    PS…lots of chicken soup!

    Distant hugs, Lauren in Michigan

  19. I love your Claremont sweater; looks great on you. So sorry you had the flu and pray you are on the mend now.

The Little Prince looks beautiful as always.

  20. Beautiful! So sorry you were sick, and glad you’re getting better. I had it earlier this month, and it wasn’t fun. May we both be immune the rest of flu season!!! Amazed you could even knit. You GO, Girl!

  21. Monica Cortada says:

It looks really cozy, just the thing when you’re feeling icky. The pattern on the band is really interesting.

  22. very pretty and you’re rockin’ the pigtails!

  23. Did Loki make you chicken soup while you were under the weather? I’m hoping he snuggled you. The pigtails are so cute!

  24. Lovely sweater! Pigtails are adorable.

  25. I’m so sorry to hear you had the flu! The pigtails look great! Enjoy the new sweater.

  26. Beautiful! Feel better soon!

  27. Alice in Richmond says:

The sweater turned out stunning!! In spite of the flu!

    Glad you are feeling better!

  28. I’m sorry the flu bug caught you! Hope you’re feeling better. The sweater looks great! I really like the button band.
