My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

First FO of 2017

I finished my Granito sweater on Monday.

And I haven’t taken a photo of it yet. So you have only my word that it is a fait accompli. But I would not lie to you and I will have a photo eventually.

I did start something new: Azure Dragon, a cowl pattern by Jennifer Kirchenbauer. I loved the look of scales as soon as I saw it, and went in search of a yarn colorway that was appropriately “dragon-y.” I ended up with the yarn she used — Malabrigo Rios. I am using the Hojas colorway:

Nice and dragon-y, I think. I have made a bit of progress:

That is the knit side. One of the nice things about this project is that it is reversible. Here is the purl side:

I think I like the purl side better than the knit side.

Things are really crazed at work so I am dead tired in the evenings, which results in not much knitting. But I’m doing a bit.

In solidarity, Loki is napping.

  1. Oooh, that is perfect for dragon scales!

Loki appears worn out from the excitement.

  2. It’s good to have someone like Loki looking out for your interests by depositing naptime in the bank, when you can’t 🙂 Lovely project, and I, too, like the purl side best.

  3. Purl side definitely looks more scale-y. Good or bad???

  4. I love the look of the Rios with that pattern! Love the adorable boy too;O))

  5. I love cowl/scarf patterns that really do look good on both sides.
Loki always looks so nice and neat. My two always look like they were left out in the wind, no matter how much I brush them.

  6. Jennifer Lavish Craft says:

    Hi there!
    LavishCraft here, Azure Dragon designer.
Just thought I’d pop in to say hello and thanks for posting about the project!
It’s looking great the color is perfect and if you need anything I’m happy to help.

  7. I concur with other commenters: Purl side looks much more reptilian.
I’m very much liking the colorway. I’m growing to enjoy the blue-green spectrum, which is new for me: I’ve grown up definitely a red-orangey kind of gal.
Speaking of color changes, Loki’s points are pretty nice lately. Will they continue to darken?

  8. Pretty yarn, now I want to try it, especially the Liquidambar colorway.

  9. Well, you’ve gone and done it now. I looked at Azure Dragon, found it fascinating, so I looked at some of LavishCrafts other designs. She’s got a good deal going for a discount if you spend a certain sum, and I’m now the proud owner of my own LavishCrafts e-book. Three patterns! And I’m kicking myself for not including a fourth one. They are so different! Maybe a little bit daunting, but I’m sure I’ll have fun with them. Thanks, Wendy! Thanks, Jennifer!

  10. The Dragon looks really cool and the color is great too.
