This and That

Thanks for your lovely comments about my American Girl doll project. I sent out the first three dolls last week and they arrived at the Butterfly Ministry yesterday. You can see them on their Facebook account.

Several of you asked where I got the dolls to refurbish. I got them all via eBay. There are always lots of AG dolls for sale that are in less than perfect condition, so you can get them for a relatively reasonable price.

Today I made a dress for one of my dolls:

And I am working on the right front of Aspen.

Loki is helping by standing in my lap while I attempt to accomplish something.

  1. Rosemary says:

The dolls are beautiful! What a great organization. As a former foster parent, I know how much it means to these kids to know that someone cares. Thanks for doing this and for helping make others aware of a very different way to help.

  2. What a pretty dress!

  3. Dorothy Bunch says:

Every thing is very beautiful. My favourite is that floor boy!

  4. What gorgeous cables!

  5. Helene Lukey says:

You do such wonderful work. I’m a big fan.
Knitted almost every sock from both your books. Yes, more than once!

  6. I don’t know quite where to begin, but I would LOVE to spearhead a project like the one you are working with for foster children in this area. I work as a parenting coach with families who have children in the foster care system. My job is to help the parents get their stuff in one bag so that they can have their children returned to them. When that proves to be not appropriate, my job is to be a professional witness in court… those are difficult days. I plan to talk to some people this week and get some idea of which avenue to follow. I sewed for a living for many years, left off about ten years ago, and am ready to take it up again. I also have to find out whether I am able to do something like that while I hold my current job. We are very careful to retain our neutrality so that we are credible witnesses when the time comes and these things matter. I may write again if it takes flight, and pick your brain a bit.
