My current work in progress:

Seaforth designed by Alice Starmore, knit in British Breeds 5-ply Guernsey Wool on US 3 needles.

Why nineteen? That’s the number of colors in my new project:

This is the Marina Cardigan, designed by Alice Starmore, purchased as a kit from Virtual Yarns.

Long-time blog readers may recall that I knit the Marina pullover years ago. How many years was it? Fifteen? At least fifteen, and knit from Jamieson & Smith Shetland Spindrift. Here it is:

The colors on the Virtual Yarns version are very close.

Speaking of colors, I dug out my old sock organizer to sort the colors. This is a very handy way top keep your colors organized when you have many!

(Don’t ask me where I purchased this — I have no idea! It was a long time ago!)

In other news, Loki is back in his tote bag!

  1. Been wanting to knit that pulli for YEARS!! I actually bought a used copy on Ebay of the Workbasket issue from years ago that had the pattern in it. The cover model was the actress who played Mrs. Hudson in the Sherlock Holmes series starring Mr. Cumberbatch. Of course the yarn is a bit problematic… You did the smart thing of course!

  2. Marina is gorgeous! Do you by chance have the color numbers in the Jamieson & Smith version?

  3. Kate Budacki says:

Sock organizers are available from Ikea, and I intend to get me one. Yarn wrangling being an ongoing issue for me.

Second, may I ask how much time you spend knitting? Daily? Weekly?

Finally, I am woozy with envy That you’ve completed TWO Starmore Fair Isles. What an accomplishment.

  4. Both the new and old sweaters are beautiful. I love the idea of using a sock organizer to contain the yarn. I just might have to order one. Thanks so much for the idea.

  5. Really like the last sweater you knitted. The one your doing now is so pretty. Love the color choices. I do remember the sweater from a few years ago! Your amazing!! stay safe!

  6. Dorothy Bunch says:

    Beautiful sweater and kitty

  7. Both sweaters (and Loki) are gorgeous.

  8. I REMEMBER! Once again, I delight in your colorway abilities.
& I wonder: How often do you repeat a project?

Because, upon reflection, I realize I may have developed new pattern paranoia — a few weeks ago, for a bday gift, I went to my mags & “in queue” notebook, but ended up CO one of my old standbyes. Even projects rated beginner or mild, gave me hesitation.

  9. I have the J&S kit for Marina in my stash! I need to blow the dust off that sock organizer and get to it. Soon. After five other things..
